  1. Shocking performance today against a very average team. No fluency to the play, not enough dig, long aimless balls to no one, no imagination, no players playing with confidence and little hope that things will improve. Today was possibly the start of a complete break down between team management and paying fans- when Butcher turned around to face the main stand arms akimbo in an attempt to muster up noise. It's HIS job to get a team to perform.

Pele Paterson has his (well documented ) problems but he'd to a better job on half the money. Does the club have his phone number? Failing that Robbo and Charlie Christie would also do a better job.

  2. Nevermind the 'mighty dees' or Dunflopline it looks as though our main competitors (if we decide to start competing) are going to be Queens!

While we are waisting time and effort against C*unty this weekend they are playing Morton at home and unless 'the ton' pull off a blinder Queens will have a 4 point gap at the top of the league. Our game against them the following Saturday could define our season IMO and to top it off they have 2 of our old favourites and they'll be gunning to prove a point.

    Massive game!

Not a massive game. Should be treated like the big four in England treat the league cup. Crowd estimate 3500. Says it all. In a way this game dilutes the "BIG DERBY" tag. League ALL important. Alba cup=Micky Mouse.

  3. We definitely DO have the opposition watched. Was this a serious question?

Of course it was a serious question ? It just didnt look like it in regrad to our tactics at Airdrie ? So = pray tell - who spied on Airdrie ?

All opposition teams are looked at and a report is given to Terry Butcher on personnel, tactics, players who are likely to pose problems, corner routines, free kick routines, formation etc, etc. The problem is formations, form of players etc are changeable and the opposition can be a different proposition when they actually play I.C.T.

I'm not in a position to say who compiled the report relating to Airdrie as there are at least two individuals at the club who have been asked to do that particular job.

Other clubs are regularly viewed in action to assess players who may be on I.C.T's radar in terms of being transfer targets.

But hey, I'm not saying the reports are good, bad or indifferent.

All S.P.L and 1st Division clubs will have a look at the opposition in the weeks leading up to a game. Sometimes though, results boil down to having enough players on the day playing to form and that old football cliche "the rub of the green."

As a punter myself who watches I.C.T regularly there are many games at which I'm thinking: Why didn't we play with a sweeper to counteract their fast as fech forward? or Why aren't we matching up to the obvious strength in the middle of their midfield?

We probably all do it and outcomes of games would, no doubt , turn out differently if the tactics in our minds were employed. Ten different people given the task of picking a line-up, employing tactics and delivering motivational team talks would result in countless variables. I reckon we'd all agree on one thing though. Lionel - Goodbye!

  4. I'd play a reserve squad in the Alba Challenge Cup and charge half price admission. The league is the priority! If our reserve squad win v County-it's GIRFUY and if County win -Big wows , they beat a weakened squad.

We should treat it the same way as the big four clubs in England treat the League Cup.

  5. "In terms of pace, technical ability, tackling, aerial ability and presence LDZ is the better player by far than Hastings. Unfortunately when he has to make a decision or engage his brain it all seems to fall apart!"

Hastings is in my opinion a much better box defender than a player who attempts multiple step-overs in his own box.

Hamilton are aware that in most S.P.L games they have to defend that's why they've gone for Hastings -a player who defends. LDZ "tackles" and usually falls on his arse, has the technical ability of a headless chicken, heads the ball anywhere and although pacy- he appears to run into crowded areas. If he's a regular in the I.C.T team this season, relegation battles beckon!

  6. Today I was walking along Inverness High Street and when one person passed me I scented he was a County fan. I've never been used to being in such close proximity to such a specimen before so I made the most of it and observed him curiously. Something led me to read his mind. It didn't take long, believe me! It was a fascinating insight into his way of thinking. These are his thoughts:

" This is a big city! Wow I've never seen so many people before. The clothes in the shop windows are like something out of the future. Is this place in Scotland? My mum (girlfriend) would really like it here. Wow, a MacDonalds! I'm going to buy 2000 burgers to feed the people of my home town. They'll build a statue of me. I can't wait to see my beloved County play a big team tomorrow. I think we'll win 2-2! My friends and me will sing many songs. We'll feel right at home close to our neighbours living in concrete wheel-less caravans behind the south stand. I like city life but I prefer living in Dangwill. It's the best village in the whole wide world and it's great that all my friends living there are related to each other."

    3-1 I.C.T it's a fact!

  7. anyone explain why Kyle Allison appeared to be getting abuse from our fans today when he warmed up?

And what was the dundee utd song?

Fools Rush In - Elvis: Dundee Utd fans favourite since the 80's

Kyle Allison on receiving end of abuse as som of our fans are ignorant. At the time I didn't realise who the chants were aimed at.

  8. More positives than negatives to be taken from today. 3 points the obvious plus but for me Bulvitus, Cox, Hayes & Sanchez look like they'll to very well at this level. Eagles -- I'm not sure. He looks clever with the ball at his feet but when faced with the option of actually going past a defender, he seemed to bottle it. Early days for him though. Good football played in one or two short bursts but didn't really look likely in the second half. Oh yes Granty had a few cracking blocks and looked like a captain today. Well done I.C.T. Can't forget the fans who created a decent atmosphere but please drop the Dundee Utd song.

  9. It has been a source of debate amongst Aberdeen fans for years ? what tune should AFC run out to?!

Many clubs have their own easily identifiable specific song that they can call their own ? Hibs with Sunshine on Leith.........United with Beautiful Sunday.............Rangers and that Tina Turner song, etc, etc........... But the Dons don?t.

So what should the tune be?

AFC have teamed up with their official Radio Partners Northsound to offer supporters the chance to have their say and once and for all vote for a tune.

Should be it be a tune that relates to the Aberdeen? Should it be something up beat that is going to give the players a lift such as the theme from 'Local Hero' (which don?t forget was filmed in Aberdeenshire!)? Should it be a classical tune like Carmen Birhana (Old Spice ad to you and me!)? Or should it be a current song?

    It's up to you!

Give us your suggestions by filling int he form below. We will then have a poll with a shortlist of the most popular nominations to allow the Red Army to choose the song Aberdeen will run out to during the 2009/10 campaign!

Good idea in my book. How about M.F.R doing something similar.

  10. Sadly the boys were beaten 2-1 in the QF but well done on getting as far lads.

Inverness United were also involved in the Dana Cup (under 17's) Unfortunately narrowly lost in semi-final. Great achievement by both teams though!

Yep, Inverness United are the Clach under 17s.

Fantastic achievement for the Clachnacudden u-17's!

  11. As was mentioned on the BB thing, why don't disabled people get to go to games for free? Some will call that discrimination, but we able bodied people don't have the burden of living such a terrible way every single day. I went on the Old Trafford tour once and I heard there that disabled people and a person they take with them, get to every game for free. Surely every team and ICT should be doing this as well. Discuss.

I can understand your sentiment to a degree but this is a bit of a"dodgy" area. Talking of living life in such a terrible way every day. What about people suffering from depression? Receiving treatment for cancer? Also, some people who are disabled may not want to be singled out but instead included just like everyone else.

  13. Canada beaten 1-0 by Honduras on a (very) dodgy penalty decision in the QF tonight so they are out.

RH - who did not play in this game - will be heading home on the next plane one would assume.

Thanks for the links Scotty. Dodgiest penalty decision I've seen since Wales V Scotland at Anfield!

  14. My expectation is that we will win this league. The reality is that we do have enough players in our squad who are capable of doing so. They just need to give 110% each and every game.quote]

Shouldn't be too difficult then. Reality check required!

  15. The other thing that no-one has mentioned yet, and that frequently gets bandied about when a new kit is released is that there is no way this can be mistaken for a Rangers kit !!!

That's true. Nothing could be worse than being mistaken for a Ranger's fan!
