  1. Commentators yesterday described Vigurs as being a great player to watch.
  2. I don't think the decision to start Imrie on the bench was intended as any kind of intentional "kick up the pants". During the pre-match commentary they alluded to the fact that they believe Brewster had made last minute changes....and I think that was perhaps down to getting news that Higdon was going to be missing from Falkirks squad. If that hadn't happened then I think we would have lined up with a 4-5-1 and Imrie would have started with Woods being left on the bench.....and with Higdon to contend with we might have missed Duncan more than we seemed to in terms of breaking down plays in the midfield and supporting the back 4. Whilst I agree that Brewster had the tactics and setup right from the kick-off I think it was a last minute decision which might have gone some way towards the apparent "attitude" being displayed by Imrie. Had the decision been made earlier then there's every chance he would have gotten over it and not shown himself up in pre-match and half-time warm ups (he was described on radio as being like a sulky kid). Whatever the cause of Imrie starting on the bench, it seemed to fire him up in a positive manner when he finally did come on to the park though, so a pre-judged move by Brewster or not...it seems to have had a favourable effect.

Full-Time and a big round of cheers and applause....if it was us then I think it might have been a win.

Anyone know if they are playing at Charleston today? If they are then it sounds like things might be going well, lots of clapping and shouts of encouragement be heard from my back window.
  5. I didn't say you did, I just asked you a question that was based on your previous logic. if it was too difficult to understand, don't worry about it, no point in stressing yourself. But under no "previous logic" did I make any suggestion we got lucky You could perhaps argue that I was suggesting we made the Arbroath game hard for ourselves....but I don't view scoring 4 well taken penalties and having your keeper save one as luck. As to my views on yesterdays victory....I've already made comment on that earlier in the thread, so you may find whatever answer your looking for there. I don't find your attempt at trying to twist what I said stressful at all....slightly amusing perhaps, but not stressful
  6. You forgot to say that you should get up at 4am to start getting ready or you'll miss the kick-off
  7. I don't believe I said anything about getting lucky.
  8. I've heard "rumour" of a desire to build some posh flats with views of the Firth, but it's no more than rumour...whilst I couldn't say for certain if there's pans it wouldn't be beyond the realms of possibility for the area to become desireable what with the other development plans that are going on. On the retail front, we're already seeing some of the larger retailers taking up spaces in that area as the more industrail stuff shifts out and I know for a fact that there's plans for the Marina Development to include a Hotel, Conference Facilities, a street of "exclusive retailers" as well as bars and restaurants....although I don't believe the location for any of this is set as yet there's some "artist impression" stuff that has done the rounds of local councilors and people of a certain influence As they have stated from the get go with the Marina....the aim is to make it the only 5 star Marina facility in Scotland.....so that's going to bring a lot of investment. If you look at the site of the Marina just to the other side of the bridge from the Stadium then it doesn't make for an ideal hotel location....not if you want views, as the bridge will be pressed up against your nose and you also have to consider that there's already a lot of new there already which are fairly new and on plots that wouldn't be large enough to accomodate a hotel even if they could be persuaded to give them up. Going away from the Stadium towards the City Centre you have the Harbour itself which is well used and it would be unlikely to give up space that it sorely needs. This leaves the site of TCS as the "Prime" piece of land down there for them to realise what they want in terms of a hotel etc, especially if they want to keep it on the waters edge, and the only place to really develop a street of shops, bars and restaurants would be in the space between Longman Drive and Henderson Drive type area. There's been talk of the Recycling Depot moving for a while I believe as they want to move it on to the A96 somewhere since that's the direction all our stuff heads off in anyway, so that's not going to be an issue...leaving it where it is certainly doesn't seem condusive with other plans for the area anyway. All in all, there's big ideas being planned for that whole sector between the Firth and Longman Rd and I think it would be great for the stadium to be a part of that.
  9. Not sure I would totally disagree with the idea of clubs/associations continuing on through "International Weekends".
  10. Maybe an I.....in lower case Meanwhile, back on topic.....Hastings sounded like he had a good game today, a few times the commentators mentioned him being the one to pick up the loose ball in and around the area and take it to the midfield. If Canada were having him watched then he won't have done his chances of getting a start any harm. My only worry is that he seemed to suffer a bit last season from playing international games and flying back to play for us a couple of days later. With our back four struggling to fire in sync then I hope it doesn't cause us any problems...or worse, he picks up an injury.

Wasn't missed today and Black seemed to be the one getting plaudits from the commentators for controlling the midfield.
  12. i cant beleive theres 2 people on here prasing brewster i thought everyone thought he was useless, have i been drinking?????? Given some of the comments you've made about Brewster in the past I don't think your in any position to be pointing the finger at anyone else. People have criticised Brewsters tactics in the past, and with some justification, I'm sure that they will give credit where it's due for getting it right today. I thought we might get punished with the 4-4-2, but without Higdon, Falkirk sounded like they had nothing to offer in the final third and our back 4, other than what seemed like a slack moment for the opening goal, seemed to cope well with the little Falkirk had to throw at us. Given Imries reaction during warm-up I'm assuming that the decision to leave him on the bench must have come fairly late on....perhaps the decision to go 4-4-2 came after getting wind of the Falkirk line-up, and if so, well done Brewster for thinking on your toes and starting the game in the right way....which with hindsight and the knowledge of Higdon missing I would have agreed with. I predicted a 2-1 victory in my Match Preview....only wish I had carried that prediction over to the Predication League :thumb04: What we need to do now is bring some consistancy to these performances. We've shown against Aberdeen and Falkirk tht we are capable, we just need to be doing it every week.
  13. Imrie should be started on the bench every week if that's the reaction we get from him
  14. I'd be tempted to go 4-3-3 in second half by the sound of the way the match is going.
  15. Played the ball OVER THE HEADS of 3 players before passing....hope that one makes the highlights.
  16. Rossco goes on one of his super moves....thought the commentators were going to cream themselves
  17. Sounds like we're doing what we do best, keeping the ball on the deck and playing football....not happening for us in front of the goal yet, but the team need keep believing that the goals will come and not start resorting to the long ball in frustration.
  18. I knew something like that would happen as soon as I chose him as "the one to watch" for Falkirk in the Match Preview
  19. Also sounds like the commentators are reporting live from the bogs!!!
  20. Think we could get punished with a 4-4-2....we really could have done with strengthening midfield to win the game there so as the likes of Higdon don't get too many chances against our back 4.
  21. I think we could borrow and slightly adapt the song Rangers sing to Celtic which references Caley Thistle To the tune of the Beatles - Let it Be. Whenever we're in times of trouble, In Caley Thistle I believe, Singing Celtic 1, Caley Thistle 3, Celtic 1, Caley 3, Celtic 1, Caley 3, Celtic 1, Caley Thistle 3
  22. What is IHE up to on the right hand side there?

Zander doesn't seem to have been as "fortunate" as Vigurs and Duff....yet. I don't think it has anything to do with Brewster not thinking he is capable, it's just the Duff and Vigurs seem to have got their chances earlier than might have been planned due to injuries and poor performances by those they have replaced. Zander has Cowie, Wilson, Imrie, McBain who are likely to be getting the nod for a start ahead of him....although I think that Brewster did slip up at Hibs by leaving him on the bench and putting Djebi-Zadi on in left midfield. His showing against Liverpool will have done him no harm whatsoever though, and as was said above....he does look to have muscled up...but not to the detriment of his mobility which sees him able to turn opposition players inside out. Dale Gillespie is in a similar boat I think, but I'm sure when the their chance comes they will do as Duff and Vigurs have done and make the most of it.
  24. Any chance of us getting a copy of the recording of the show and we can host it on here since the BBC are having problems on their site with making the archives available online?
  25. Although the Bught is the ideal location in terms of getting local (non-driving) fans along to games it would still create the need for some major upgrading to the transport routes around the area or you'd have total gridlock on matchdays - having to wait 20 minutes to half an hour to get out of the car park as is the case at present will seem like a luxury. I still have strong suspicions that any move will be to the other side of the Canal from the Bught in or near the old Quarry and that it will be in conjunction with the new distributor road that goes in over there. As I've pointed out in the past, Sutherland already owns large swathes of land over there and it would make perfect business sense for him to sell/donate/lease a large portion of that for a new stadium in return for total control of the land we sit on at present....or even selling land to whichever developer wants the current TCS site will turn him a nice profit if he was to be involved no further than that. Community Stadiums are fine in principle, but very hard to get right IMO. As has been said above, the thought of fans being 20 or 30 meters back from the pitch is not going to help an already failing atmosphere, and to get around that you would need to install some kind of lower tier seating arrangement which could be moved out over the track to bring fans in closer to the game....doable, but very expensive. You then have the logistics involved with sharing with other sports....things like not having the same flexibility when it comes to scheduling matches and re-arranging fixtures, replays etc. If your sharing with other pitch/field sports then you have the condition of the pitch to worry about. Whilst I think we should be looking to a Stadium setup which can be used for other sports, I don't think it is possible to have one where it's the "home" of several sports. Holding the odd big rugby match, shinty match, hockey match or whatever during the summer might be possible, but having the pitch ravaged constantly throughout the year in such a way is just not conducive with using it for football....not if you want a playable surface. If we want to increase income from a Stadium then we have to be looking to "off the pitch" facilities for additional income streams. With that in mind my "dream" would be to see us stay where we are but to scrap the current setup and start fresh. Build a scaled down version of something like the Reebok Stadium which incorporates a hotel, offices and conference facilities. It would take one hell of an investment in the site to do that, but where there's a will, there's a way and if you could get a partnership with one of the big hotel chains then you'd have it cracked. I'm sure there's any number of them would kill for the opportunity to get a business in on the site, even if it did mean sharing it with a football stadium. The Marina Development already has plans to include a hotel down there somewhere, why not get in on that? They also want to build some kind of shopping centre...."Club Shop Anyone?". The Club* have 2 choices....they can take the easy option and have whoever wants the site build them something elsewhere and perhaps give us a few quid in the bank to see us through a few seasons....or, they can use the fact we're sitting on what will, if it's not already, one of the most sought after bits of land in the City to get a setup, which will not only provide a Stadium the likes of which we could never have hoped for, but will create an infrastructure which provide services and incomes streams to keep the club running very comfortable for the foreseeable future. * I say club, but as the Stadium and Lease is owned by the Charitable Trust it would ultimately be down to them...all depends on what kind of tenancy agreement the club have with them for the site.
