  1. Not at all....I understand why he did it and I know and appreciate what he did for the club when he left. However, it's no different from what Robertson did when he went to follow his dream of managing Hearts, or what Paterson did when he went to Aberdeen and I'd take either of those guys back in a flash.
  2. True....it's not as if he walked out on us only days after giving a big speech about how grateful he was to ICT for giving him his chance in management and how he was committed to the club.....oh no wait, that's exactly what he did.
  3. Our small band of travellers were coming across loud and clear this evening on the radio.
  4. I totally agree that a manager can only work with what he has, but we've had guys in the past who've overcome the hurdles and had the team performing at, or above, their expected best. I wouldn't necessarily be looking at "obvious candidates" or even someone who is currently a manager elsewhere, but top of my list would be someone with motivational skills and a bit more of a tactical brain. How much time can we afford to give him (or any manager)? Performances at home are beyond shocking, and as a result season ticket sales are down and gates are down. It's obvious that people are losing interest in the product being served up by Brewster....and the longer it goes on, the lower crowds will drop, the less money we will be taking in and the less able we'll be to spend to rectify the issues. See above I think it's too easy to simply dismiss other peoples opinions like this. If it was one or two people then you might have a point, but we're get several people all making the same point week after week. They can't all be wrong so often. Brewster might be a great ambassador for the club, it doesn't mean to say he's a good manager. Nobody talked ICT up more in the last 12 months than Marius Niculae, and the club had no problem screwing him over letting him go. Would you like to name these "few" managers? Because I only know of 3 others...and all of them are big followers of ICT. Unless of course you mean that they have talked the club down because they re-employed Brewster?...which really just serves to argue my point for me. (That last one was retorical, I already know the answer)
  5. Ralph, I've supported Brewster on here more than once when I thought it was merited so my views are far from being any personal grudge. The bottom line for me is that, over the piece, Brewster is not getting the best out of the team and it's time for him to be moved on. Bad managers will still get the odd result that goes their way, but I just can't be doing with the negative p*sh that's being served up at the moment and the fact that we're making the same tactical errors time and time again. You may disagree, and that's fine, but there's nothing in what you've said which makes me think I should reconsider my stance on things....if you want to argue in his favour instead of trying to excuse my viewpoint on the unfounded basis that it's a "personal" thing then I'm more than willing to listen.
  6. Whenever I start to lose faith in McAllister I just go along and watch the reserves and watch as he performs brilliantly and I go back to having that little bit of hope/faith that he will come good in the first team squad. One thing I will add, and I've said it elsewhere, is that he seems to have strengthened up this season which has vastly improved his holding play. I await with interest the reports on him from fans there this evening to see if that has transferred across to his first team play.
  7. Got sore thumbs now Don? :thumb04: I don't get free texts to these shortcode numbers or it would have been The way we're performing at the moment I'll take our payday against the OF in the next round TYVM.
  8. Because he continues to make the same mistakes....and because fans were still texting in to Sportsound after we went ahead saying that they still think Brewster should go.
  9. Glad of the win, but don't think it will have done Brewsters position with the fans any good.
  10. I think Mannie has these things saved for a quick cut and paste and he hit paste twice
  11. A butt clenching final 60 seconds.
  12. feckin dancer......Dougie IMRIEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!! (never doubted him)
  13. True enough, but can it really be much worse if we only put 3 at the back
  14. The Bermuda Triangle.....not heard mention of that in years - DJ'd through in Nairn a few times in each of the 3 pubs....place would be busy then all of a sudden everyone was gone. First time it happened I was wondering WTF was going on, but low and behold an hour or so later everyone would come wandering back once the happy hour across the way had ended. Also when I worked in the Estate Agents we had a couple of tenants who you had to go chasing on a Friday afternoon before they had spent their wages and that involved braving the Triangle to track them down I always forget which is which, but I believe the Vic is in the process of changing hands. Think the guy who had it lost his licence for not having the doors manned by suitably qualified persons and got caught on more than one occasion with nobody on the side door at all (after being warned). Sure I saw something somewhere saying that new owners had applied for a licence but the decision had been delayed till October. Ummmm.....trying to think of something football related to keep it on topic....but failing!!!!!!
  15. I seem to have some kind of genetic disorder which results in my brain switching off as soon as a Rangers or Celtic fans starts speaking about football. I don't give a flying hoot if they don't like ticket prices, or they don't like songs they sing to each other, or if that wee dude that manages them gets upset because the press never showed enough of one of their players getting a smack around the napper. All their problems are of their own making and maybe when they start to look inwards for the answers instead of just pointing the finger at everyone else they will get somewhere towards addressing them. Only then might I actually start to give a toss about what opinions they have.
  16. I think I'll just agree to disagree before I end up launching myself into a wee rant
  17. At last, someone else who can see that Ross is at his best when Wilson is in front of him. They know each other well, they know where they are strong and where they are weak and they play to their strengths. We all know Ross is slow to recover, he always has been, and it's only in this last couple of seasons it's become a huge issue.....why? Because nobody is covering until he gets back. I probably fall into the "Rossco is God and nobody had better say otherwise" camp because I think he is one of the last few players that epitomise what ICT were all about, and should still be all about. A team of grafters who will go out there and sweat blood for each other if that's what was needed, a team who's heads never went down when we lost a goal and could step off the park after any game and hand on heart say they had given everything...win, lose or draw. That's not to say that I think these boys should be guaranteed picks, far from it, but give me 11 players out there with a bit of fighting spirit ahead of 11 pre-madonnas looking for a foot up any day of the week.
  18. Whilst my line-up may look like it is "advocating an experimental line-up" I have actually based my choices on the players I think are playing best at the moment. I've had the luxury of seeing a couple of reserve matches this season (and compared to first team action it is a luxury) and would have no hesitation in playing these guys sitting on the fringes as I think they more than merit a start ahead of some of those who are regular first team picks. Picking your "strongest" team does not mean selecting the guys who are out there every week making the same mistakes time and again and costing us points. What I want to see from these cup games is a team that goes out there and gives it their all for 90 minutes and plays with a positive attacking attitude. I'd far rather we won a game 4-3 and saw a bit of team spirit than see us scrape through on a stuffy 1-0. We are capable of playing that way if the manager would only cut the lads loose and let them do it.
  19. Based on recent performances then I'd be tempted to go something like.... - - - - - - - - - Esson - - - - - - - - - Proctor - - - - Duff - - - - Djebi-Zadi - - - - - - - - - Duncan - - - - - - - - - -Wilson - - - - Black - - - - McBain- - - - - - - - - - Vigurs - - - - - - - - - - - - - - McAllister - Rooney - - - - - This is the type of game where we should be dominating in midfield, and with Proc, Duff and Djebi-Zadi at the back they have enough between them to be mopping up high balls over the top when Morton are forced into that as an only option. Duncan and Vigurs are effectively playing as midfielders, but I have positioned them forward and back in the lineup to demonstrate that Duncan should be mindful of dropping back to assist when need be and Vigurs should be encouraged to make some of those intelligent runs he was making on his last outing to pick up knock ons and lay offs from the front pairing...or indeed to be setting them up, which he showed equally capable of doing against St Mirren. Further more, every man I've selected has shown a willingness to get out there and give 100% this season, that's why there's no space for the likes of Cowie who could do with a spell on the bench IMO. Imrie....I wouldn't be overly upset to see him in place of McBain. Subs....the usual suspects, although it would be nice to see the likes of Zander Sutherland and Dale Gillespie get a little time on the park if circumstances permit.
  20. I just realised that some of you may not be aware that we have a subscription option available which will remove the adverts from the top and bottom of the forum for those who may find them annoying. It's ?12 per year, and you can sign up via the "My Controls" page by selecting the "Purchase Paid Subscription" option from the left hand menu or Click Here to be taken directly to the page. The adverts are there to help offset the cost of operating the site, which is far in excess of anything we make from them, but every little helps. We also have a "Donate" button at the bottom left of the forum for anyone who may want to make an additional contribution.
  21. Taken from the CaleyJags.com Matchday Gallery "McBain goes into hiding when it comes time for the Subs"
  22. Design Shop now active - http://caleythistleonline.com/cto-shop/design-shop I still have a few designs to transfer over to make them available in this part of the site, but you can now put together your own items using either the designs I have made available or using any of the hundreds of generic designs which are available to you and/or the text option to add your name or make up any message you wish - you can even upload your own photo or image!!! Have fun, and as always if you have any specific requests let me know.
  23. I don't think you can draw comparisons so easily as the personnel playing under tha manager play a big part in it also. i.e. You could take someone who has never seen the game of football and put them in charge of Celtic and be reasonably confident that they'd be able to get to a mid-table position....and in the same manner we, ICT, have in the past had groups of players who, on paper, would never have been expected to do as well as they have, but the right management has brought out the best in them and made them better than the sum of their parts. On paper we've got some great individuals in the squad, but on the pitch we aren't seeing performances which reflect that. Something is wrong...be it tactics, motivation or whatever you have to admit that, although we are doing ok in the league the results and team display haven't exactly been inspiring, especially at home. I don't think anyone is knocking our league position, but as I said elsewhere, it's hard not to believe that we should have done a bit better than what we have. That's not any delusion of grandeur or thinking we have a right to win games...it's seeing the display and listening to the comments of many people who agree that we aren't playing as we should be, it's looking at the fact that every goal we have lost has been the result of a defensive error and the fact that we aren't scoring goals because we aren't creating chances.
  24. I think we had bids of around that figure in for two players towards the end of the window....McPake and McCracken.
  25. I had intended to take in the game but after getting up at 6:30am to get everything I needed to do out of the way bright and early my lovely family put an end to my plans by all arriving for Sunday lunch!!! I miss going to the old football haunts of the Highland League and lower leagues and had been looking forward to this one.
