It’s gives the club an asset on their balance sheet and removes a debt in accountancy terms the club is no longer bankrupt.

It stops the rental payments having to go through the accounts ever year (which didn’t get paid) which would be owed to tulocchs then requiring a letter of comfort to allow the accounts to be signed off.  Tullochs could have called in the debt which would have ended the club.

As part of the deal Tucllochs have also given up the naming rights to the stadium.  This can now open up a lot of income if the club manage to sell these naming rights to another company.

interesting. were we / are we bankrupt?

Not suggesting to break or cancel contracts though . The point is that a significant amount of playing time and money is spent on injuries - which nobody seems to think is poor management from the club - either in terms of financially or player physical well being. Therefore does the recruitment & medical process need to be reviewed or the training & coaching methods.

First of all I would be surprised if our injury situation was related to training or coaching methods. However I would not be surprised if our medical/ physio / rehab was not very much dictated by budgets or lack of funding.

While its speculation, I'd be keen to understand how much in terms of % of budget is being paid to injured players over the last few years and for our players how many games are missed by those. Also lets not forget that all of the following left the club and needed operations or recovery time as they played through injuries - Mckay, Meekings, Draper, Tansey. While I accept players can get injured our list of crocks is significant and for a small club with limited budget we cannot afford to keep paying wages for guys who never play!!!

I dont think this is relevant as the club must abide by the contract agreed by both parties.

  4. Great to see the club thinking of the supporters by setting a ticket price of £120 and once again managing to **** up details. Community club - aye right! Only the wealthy few will enjoy this event so I hope the club can survive on their ongoing contributions.

Personally I rather like this thread.  One of the great things about this site is that there can be a large number of different threads running at the same time under each of a number of general headings.  It is therefore easy to locate what you are interested in and ignore what does not interest you.  It also means that threads can generally stay more or less "on topic" although inevitably they do go off topic from time to time and particularly when someone mentions the "Y" word.  Having a thread specifically on Yogi means that anyone who wants to have their say on him can do so with detracting from the subject of some other thread.  Anyone who is bored by the debate can simply ignore the thread.

I'm all for looking forward - it's the reason I put myself forward for the Supporters Trust Board -  but there is absolutely nothing wrong in looking back too.  Indeed I would argue that looking back and learning from the past is essential if you want to be successful in moving forward.  I think it is quite instructive to have a debate on Yogi's impact on the club because there is little doubt in my mind that opinions on him serve to illustrate what different people want from the team and how they view things differently.  Just because we have different views on things doesn't mean the discussion has to be divisive.

It is a fact that we had our greatest success in all 3 major competitions under his stewardship and for some that seems to be enough to give him club legend status.  Others will argue that there were other factors which led to the success and he was lucky to be in the right place at the right time, and that given where we were when he took over, we should have achieved far more in the previous season.  Some folk rave about the style of football he got the team playing whilst others felt it was the most boring football we've ever played.  Some argue that had Yogi been given a bigger budget he would have delivered more success, whilst others point out that he had a bigger budget than any previous manager and argue that his failure to recruit better players is what started the rot.

We probably all agree that Foran was a disaster, but the fact that we have such a polarised opinion on Hughes is fascinating.  On another thread someone wrote that in order to bring in better crowds we simply need to offer a better product on the pitch.  What the debate on Yogi demonstrates is that it is not that simple because people disagree about the style of football they want to watch.

Merely my opinion DD. I also feel you are very much stating the obvious and i don't think your role in the ST has any relevance.

I cant tell if this is sarcasm, but if it isn’t, Eddie was on one of the bigger wages of the 14/15 Cup winnning squad. There is no way we could afford his wages unless he was willing to go from thousands a week down to a couple hundred max

Dont see why we couldn't afford his wages if he is free agent and earning zilch

Not so much an accusation as an observation "Not so much nowadays though"... that is my point. I recall a few years ago where there were on occasion groups of kids (schools possibly) in the far end of the North stand. If the club did this for 'every' game it might make a difference, not just now and again.

Yes over 25 years they probably have. I have primary school age children and in the past 4 years I have not heard of tickets being offered to their school or at the many other activities they undertake.

Perhaps someone on the forum has recent experience of tickets being handed out to primary schools.

if they have stopped issuing free tickets to kids it is absolutely disgraceful

Surely any business worth its salt would be doing some market research to actually find out why the attendances are falling. They should be getting out on the streets and asking some basic questions. What about going to season ticket holders who haven't renewed - that would be a good starting point. There's the website too - put a questionnaire on that.

Of course publish the results and see if there's a common thread. Surely worth a try.

I thought we employed an expert with vast experience in this field?

It has been mentioned many times but we need to attract more youngsters to games. The club should be giving away 100+ free tickets to primary schools for every home game. No cost to the club and it may attract new fans, plus additional income on match day (food / drinks).

I also think the club should have 5 a-side matches for kids before games and a half time. You could have four teams playing a round robin before the game with the top two teams playing a final at half time. This would attract family and friends of those playing and provide the fans with some entertainment!

If the club had invested in younger fans 10 years ago our attendances might be a lot better today.

ICT issued 100's of free tickets for home games to local primary schools since the club was formed and I would be surprised if they don't  so now

Old age trumps misunderstanding. -  You are wrong!

If the poster  to whom I am  replying has not been adjudged to be off-topic then how can a direct reply to what he  or she has said be off-topic?  Because, to this point, the adjudicator has therefore clearly affirmed that the original poster's  remarks are within the tolerances of being "ON TOPIC and so any reply to what the poster has said MUST therefore also be within the realms of that poster's thoughts and statements and therefore must not be "off topic".

Effectively, in this scenario, the suggestion that replies are off-topic are actually a misjudgement or an attempt to curtail free speech because the adjudicator does not know what further thoughts  the person who is replying might have about then personally addressing the issue under discussion  more fully. And, in fact,  needs to say a few words  up front so that  everyone understands where he or she is coming from and what he or she sees as to what might happen in the future.

you'll be getting writers cramp mannie - beginning to ramble a bitty.

I hope you realise that I did not suggest that anyone think of sacking JR. It's far too close to the end of the season to even think of changing horses in mid stream.

Apart from that, he must be allowed to  see out the season since he has the right to expect backing all season long. Last, but by no means least, the team must be allowed to play out the season without the very damaging situation that might arise if the manager is  kicked out. at this point in time. Total chaos and disruption would surely follow such an event.?

gone off topic i think sp

Good luck to Darren and hope it goes well. He should know that all caley supporters will be right behind him as we are the rest of the team -

Hope the Jags supporters get behind him too ?
