After initial surprise at these early signings it begins to make sense with regard to budgeting large salaries coming off the wage bill as we get closer to June.

The wages for polworth and ofw will buy us a number of players. Hopefully good business by Robbo.

The issue with taking over a team is that we then are subject to SFA player registration and then if we want to move players between the colts and the first we can only do it twice in a season. Having a colts would allow the club to move players freely between the first team and the colts

Unfortunately It is highly unlikely that ICT will gain entry to SHFL.

Why do we not try and do a deal with Fort William. They are in Inverness shire, and are always looking for good players. Our youngsters could be just the shot in the arm that they are looking for, and give our boys a good introduction into the mens game.

    good point

A colt team in the highland league would never be taken seriously. They are a joke. Why the sudden change of heart? We’ve all hated the colt teams in the challenge cup but now it benefits us you want to introduce it.

It really is all about DEVELOPMENT, getting capable youth players competing against MEN in a COMPETITIVE environment. If we can't afford to do our own thing In the SFL reserve league then the only option is to tie in with Clach and use them as our Development squad.

For what it’s worth if they have an odd number of teams, or don’t promote a team such as Banks O’Dee then I don’t see a problem with us playing the team who has a spare weekend in a friendly. Joining the league is just the same as the old firm wanting their colts in and I disagree with that too.

this was done many many years ago

Indeed not but rest assured it is not just Rab by any strech.

Blocking requests from ICT for trialling kids but setting up trials (not just allowing following a request) thereafter with County is pretty blatant favouratism.

Silimilary, sitting telling parents that ICT are the antichrist is also common.

Aware that there are many layers but I seen nothing recently to suggest that there is a desire to form a partnership. As an aside, the held view with many in the club is that Clach are looking across the bridge

Wow it seems the people you have met with certainly have a problem. Not the kind of setup I would put my child into so the sooner Chis knows the better!!!!!

County have a pathway for their youth and young pros - we don't  beyond 18's. If Clach tied up with county they would only get players not good enough for their teams. On the other hand if they get the full time boys at ICT they would get them all including the better players YES/NO ? simples.

Seems more necessary for Alex to ask his Head of Development why he is pursuing an anti Caley agenda. I've sat in meetings and heard it and seen the application

interesting. i will let Alex know what Mr Mullheron is saying. i take it Alex and Brian were not at these meetings. What "application" are you referring to? there is more to clach than the youth development side of things.

Coach have thrown their lot in with County and the issues with Savage and Sutherland loom in the background. Having had my son involved in the Development side the spiteful view of ICT by many of their coaches is petty and I don’t see this changing in the near future.

Clach have not "thrown their lot in with County" so I don't know where you got that from.

  9. This is an opportunity to sit down with Clach and really set a pathway for ICT youth players.

*Clach have a very limited player budget but could subsidise the ICT players wage

*ICT cannot afford a reserve team so Clach continue funding the SHFL team bur save on signing on fees.

There are so many benefits here for both clubs if they just see sense and sit down round the table.

What would it do to the pitch if two teams were playing frequently on it?  And it would require the Highland League and the SPFL to liaise over scheduling of fixtures.    :argue:

OTOH, Clach would want money for a groundshare....

But I've read the P&J article, and it all makes sense.  Keeping the lads together instead of loaning them out, and taking part in a competitive league, would be great if we could somehow pull it off.

simple. clach need players, have a ground etc etc. it's about time the inverness football community got together and build from the foundations up.

The silence on the wider development side since Danny departed is a bit of a concern.

The club now only has one coach left who holds the qualifications to be Academy Director and no announcement seems to have been made on this.

    and who is that?

This is undoubtedly a prime opportunity for John Robertson to secure the signings of teams facing relegation and an unsure future. It is a case of being of looking at the "Sales" due to budgetary constraints, as long it is a player who has attracted our attention recently.

........... and has the approval of DFS

Article makes a lot of sense for the bigger clubs but we have absolutely  no pathway for this group of u18's. Loans to highland league?. Why not do a deal with Clach as a feeder team. Our boys could play against men each week and if they mature quickly enough they could come back into our first team squad.

I dont think its a totally lost cause but families do influence there is no doubt about it. Not a reason to give up though as peer pressure has an effect too. We need to go back to school/youth group tickets and encouraging teenagers to come as they are more likely to return? Id let all u16s in free but I do realise that has implications financially.

Totally agree OCG. It would be interesting to find out how many u16s actually pay at the moment?

  15. this would be the reserve league to enter
