This might be who we are looking for but it’s a risk. The usual names banded around like Ian McColl who I am not keen on was on Off The Ball on Sunday saying he was finished his gardening leave (money in the bank) and Tam Cowan joking that Billy Dodds can’t go back to the BBC as they had their quota of ex Rangers players

What we need right now is a strong experienced head who will get the best from the players, protect them to allow confidence to be regained and not take any nonsense/interference from above.
Unfortunately, there's not a hope in hell that our current CEO/Chairman are going to employ anyone other than another buddy/yes man. They're certainly not going to risk employing a manager that might call them out on the BS way they're running the place.
I think you are right with your thoughts STFU but I have my fingers crossed for something better.

Glad he has gone but I am not sure what will happen now but hope they can sort it out and we can see a decent game of football for a change.

Can’t even hold on for a draw

I am actually surprised that some think he will get the sack if Raith win on Saturday or have they misread the question?

Thanks for that John
You are right about the building of local railways and land owners, one example is Mr Fletcher of Rosehaugh House on the Black Isle who had a station built at Avoch after allowing the Fortrose line to pass over his land and I am sure the owner of Skelbo Castle in Sutherland did the same on the Dornoch line.
A very interesting local story about your great grandfather. I have found many things in my family tree that were not talked about and covered up by the family like child deaths and illegitimate children who were often brought up by grandparents. I spend a lot of time on Ancestry and Scotlands People.

I always questioned why this was Dodds first job as a number one at his age, when he has always been a number two! And as for the two year contract, that just smacks of jobs for the boys. His contract was up, the club could have let him walk out the door without compensation, but they decided to give him a two year deal and now he would walk away with a nice tidy sum, if we could afford it, which we can't. I only hope that there are some conditions related to the contract, like we have to have so many wins or so many points by a certain date, but I won't hold my breath on that score.
Today's game would have been a great way of getting some form and confidence back into the team, if we had of played our strongest team, instead, we let possibly one of our rivals down at the bottom of the table, get a psychological advantage over us, so we go into our next crucial game, with low expectations, no form, and Dodds no wiser to our best eleven, formation and tactics. I look at all the teams in the league and can't see where any wins will come from.
Exactly we should always put out our best team in any cup game!

BTW, I am not a railway enthusiast. But during the summer I was at the Bo'ness and Kinneil railway. The station at Bo'ness has a second-hand bookshop, where I picked up two different books about the development of the Highland Railway for the vast sum of three quid.
So, given the hints you had dropped, it was a case of checking where the "branch line" going past a castle south of Golspie was - the Dornoch Light Railway. After that it was straightforward.
I think you are
The house I thought was the old station was the bridge keepers cottage and your cottage is still there. I am learning more local history all the time. Check out the links below.

The house was a station on the main line north and there was a branch line went past the old castle.

A controversial plan to shake up how football supporters' buses operate in Scotland has been shelved.

Nobody wants this and it won’t happen. But it’s just bizarre. A proposed consultation from a transport organisation nobody has ever heard of, about introducing a voluntary code of practice that involves a club’s nominated person agreeing in advance that the supporters bus can stop at a specified pub? Who on earth thought this is a good idea?
Anyone who has driven a lorry or a bus or involved in any transport knows about them!
It’s the usual using a sledgehammer to crack a nutOne example is when The Rangers supporters stop at the Chieftain on the way to Dingwall, the Chieftain serves substantial meals but who is going to check if the fans eat one or just have six pints
