  1. Sadly, there is stll a lot of progress to make but this remains a bit step in the right direction.

I have little doubt that he will get some abuse from the stands next season. It is incumbent on other fans to point it out.

So on the bench we could have Roddy in a mask, Tom on crutches and Shane with a stookie and crutches. Clearly Tom and Shane would struggle if they had to join in the penalty shoot out. However, if we were forced to put these guys on the bench I am sure they would give everything if brought on.

PS If we have problems, think about Rangers and Hearts - they are part of the Willie Collum card fest at Hampden Park this Saturday.

The Rangers and Hearts can look after themselves.

Personally, as far as football is concerned, my focus over the next week or so will be entirely on ICT.

  3. Well done to young Jake Daniels of Blackpool for having the courage to come out as gay.

Good to see the largely positive reaction. Hopefully, we have come a long way since the tragedy of Justin Fashanu.

I hope that, in the longer term, the reaction will be virtually none at all.

He's a professional footballer and he's gay. So what !

There seems to be this delusional misconception among a lot of our support that we somehow reached the play offs and the play off finals by playing great football and showing some kind of gritty character.  The truth is that we finished 3rd in the poorest Championship we've seen in a long time, with a points total that would have struggled to find 5th place in previous seasons.

I celebrated our wins as much as anyone else and I'll be over the moon if we stick it to St Johnstone, but let's not kid ourselves that this squad or the manager is anything special.

That is a bit harsh. Nobody, as far as I can see, is claiming that we played well in the play off matches but we did play well enough, albeit with a bit of good fortune, to get through.

However, you don't beat the team that finished second, sometimes down to 8 men and frequently down to 9, without showing grit and determination.

Right now, I prefer to concentrate on the positives and hope that the players and coaches are too.

The time for a post mortem is if and when our promotion hopes are finally dead and that very well may not happen.

We should not fear them. There’s not a lot between the bottom of the Premiership and the top of the Championship.

This season we’ve done best against our challengers and struggled against teams in the bottom half.

We only lost twice in 20 games against Kilmarnock, Arbroath, Partick and Raith.

We are seeing determination and resilience in our squad and a desire to overcome adversity.

It will be tough, particularly if we don’t get Devine’s red card overturned, given we will also be missing Duffy, MacGregor, Sutherland and Walsh, but we can do this.

I’m looking forward to the double header, with cautious hope.

I too am cautiously hopeful and looking forward to these games with relish thanĺ any other since the cup final.

However, we can't read too much into the fact that they finished second bottom.

They are no world beaters and, in particular, find goals hard to come by. That said, they find themselves in that position very largely due to their abysmal league form and consequent results at the start of the season.

They recruited substantially and well in January and since the end of February, once these new signings bedded in, their form has been much closer to mid table.

These ties will not be easy and we will need to be close to our best over both legs but we can do this.

Top tier status is within touching distance and, if we show the level of commitment we did in Arbroath, we won't be far away.

Looking at St J result today then I'd say we should go in with a lot of confidence against a team very low on confidence :ictscarf:

I had a look at their team, they had McCart, Rooney, Gilmour, Middleton and Ciftci starting and Gordon, Brown, Hallberg, Craig and Hendry on the bench.

And that was a Hibs team that just lost to now relegated DUNDEE last midweek.

I'm sure Saints supporters will be overly concerned going into Friday despite our depleted squad.

    Believe guys, believe 😉

St Johnstone rested 6 players who are likely to start on Friday and the rest were instructed not to be too committed in a match which meant nothing to them for fear of injury or suspension.

We can read absolutely nothing into either the result or performance.

  7. Unfortunately for us, now that St Johnstone are safe from automatic relegation but can't escape the play off place, they have nothing to play for in their final scheduled league match tomorrow and can virtually freewheel and rest as many players as they wish.

Sharp contrast to the position we find ourselves in after yesterday.

Advertised everywhere as Friday, and I've just found it in the Sky Sports schedule for Friday.  I had assumed that it would be BBC.

Guess who doesn't have Sky.... :help:

I believe that you can purchase a NOW TV day pass for under a tenner which gives you 24 hours access to SKY Sports.

  9. Ever since the play offs were introduced I have always thought that if the sides were still level after the conclusion of the second leg the tie should go straight to a penalty shoot out.

The home team already have an advantage and an extra half hour of open play at their home ground in front of mainly their fans gives them a significant additional and unearned advantage.

Fatigued players are more susceptible to injury and the team prevailing in the end are at a further disadvantage over their next opponents who are probably better rested and will have the benefit of a home match in the decisive leg of the next round.

I wonder if the club would consider having a Pay What You Can game next Friday.

It would be great to fill the stadium and tempt in some new fans for next season in the top flight (fingers crossed). I have noticed a lot of new faces, especially young ones, attending the play off games and it would be great to keep building the momentum.

In the current economic climate, it would be a nice gesture to those who are struggling financially, and these initiatives can have a funny way of actually being financially beneficial to the club.

    Let's create an atmosphere.

As half the proceeds go to the SPFL, I don't think we are at liberty to do so.

However, the club need to be advising this as widely as possible and we fans need to encourage non attenders or infrequent attenders to come along.

Surely from a population in excess of 100,000 in the greater Inverness area we can tempt 5,000 along to watch the heroes of Gayfield play our most important home match since we last beat the Perth Saints to gain promotion to the top filight almost 2 decades ago.

very disappointed with his post match interview sour grapes or what ? i would have a little respect for him had he said congratulations to Inverness on winning the game with 9 men as for Collum he should never be allowed to referee a game again the mans a disgrace🤡

I would normally congratulate Arbroath, as the only part time team in the division, on coming so close.

However, the conduct of Dick Campbell and so many of his players makes that impossible and I would shed no tears if they were relegated next season.

Well done to their fans though in turning up in such numbers.

With 9 (and at one point 8 ) players, Arbroath have only themselves. The only bit of luck we got was that header off the bar at the death, but I reckon we deserved a break at that point.

Which merely cancelled out the shot for us which almost broke the cross bar in the first leg.

Campbell says they were by far the better team on the night but sorry old man you just weren't good enough to beat us even with us at 10 and 9 men. We may not have looked that pretty but by jove we can defend all over the pitch. What a win guys!!!!!

Or briefly even 8 men giving them a 4 man advantage on the pitch.
