  1. Will the matchday pies be any better this season and will the prices be hiked up again for the SPL?

Last season pies were of a dubious quality!

    neksor

My only home game last season was against Dundee on the last day but being too excited i forgot to buy anything, I'm looking forward to testing the catering to see what all the fuss is with queues and quality.

  2. At the end of our relegation season the staff numbers doing all the behind the scenes stuff were cut drastically. They have not been replaced. The person doing the shop, I believe, also does ticketing and other things. She is a very sweet lady who tries to please everyone but doesn't have enough hours in the day for the workload she has to handle at this point in the year. If you try phoning and cant get through to someone you can always e-mail : [email protected]

Fans should either, go in person to the stadium, or, if phoning, have a bit of sympathy and patience.

I dont know what the problem is with the club shop online, unless the site is being updated with new stock.

I don't think anyone is blaming who ever is running the distribution of merchandise but WHY has no one else been employeed to help deal with the increase of demand that was invevitable once we won the league. Are we going to have to wait a couple years like last time before they realise we are an SPL club again?

  3. The only place I can find who are happy to print your tops with SPL lettering is the Celtic shop in Eastgate. They have them in stock and charge ?6 per name and ?6 per number (even if it's a double number eg 14)

Unfortunately we do not have the facilities to do this in house at the moment.

    Hope this helps

I wouldn't want to give them my cash!!

go to rangers shop , tell them its for first game of the season , they might do it free :rotflmao:

Is there even a rangers shop in inverness now?

I don't think so, and even when we did it just kept on moving.

  4. Barnet were very lucky not to be relegared to Non League status last season . If you think thats the level we're at then fair play to you but personally I think although we're favourites for relegation this time round we're a bit better than Englands Non League , just my opinion of course . what has attendances got to with it ?

Who would you say Barnet were on par with then? I think attendances do have a part in how good a team can become. More supporters going to matches gives the team more funds to compete for signings. If Barnet are pulling in as many fans as us surely that suggests they are able to pull in players of a certain calibre that we are after.

People completely over rate the lower leagues in England, I've seen some games at that level and the standard is shocking! Given that they were almost relegated to the non-leagues then I wouldn't expect them to be much better than lower Division 1 in Scotland

You may be right but i'd have thought with ticket prices and attendances roughly equal to ours they'd be between us and Ross County. These things are hard to compare though. Stockport are League Two and we only managed to beat them 1-0, They only managed 5 wins all season in League One before being relegated. I know it was only a friendly though so this doesn't prove anything. Fleetwood also beat us and they are non league, our team wasn't weakened that much either.

  6. I used to work in a grossly under staffed place, but I always managed to perform various different tasks to keep customers satisfied.

Yes but brothels are a bit different.

After a relatively leisurely year in Div 1 and a quiet summer, the club have to quickly adapt again to the extra demands and volumes, and it sounds like they aren't quite there, yet.

Why the quiet summer though? They knew we would have the extra demand for shirts and other merchandise come end of July start of August so they should have been ready to answer the phone.

  7. Oo, and back on topic, my local JJB in Southampton do shirt printing, they have different styles of numbers and letters. They should print my ICT shirt for me. They did the Sunderland shirt I got my dad for his 50th last year because it was cheaper than the Sunderland website.

Will they have official SPL numbering though?

They used to do EPL numbers but not SPL.

  8. Some quotes about "Kenny G" on the Barnet website by some fans

"Anyway, can't help think he's better suited to League 1 than the SPL. Good luck Kenny! The best Kenny to play for us since Kenny Lowe. Edit - taken from above link: "He left this summer after a contract dispute" Really? I just thought he wanted to better himself at a higher level, and as a free agent turned down a new contract... Hardly a dispute! "

"Good luck to Kenny ... although I imagine that he'll find the standard of football in the Scottish Premier League is far lower than in the English League 2."

Now this i've got to disagree with. Barnet may be lower SPL or Division 1 but playing against Hereford is not the same as playing against Rangers or Celtic.

  9. Would I be right in saying that Barnet are about lower SPL/upper SFL1 standard?

    No .

Care to add a little more than no? What level do you think Barnet are if they couldn't compete with Killie, St Mirren, ICT, Dundee, Ross County. Or are they better than this? League Two's average attendance for this season was 3,853. Pretty similar to those clubs mentioned i would say.

  10. Quoted from the Caley Thistle website

"He is a close friend of Arsenal left back Gael Clichy and has been staying with him in London"

Do you think that is real or has it just been swiped off Wikipedia?

  11. Hayes, Odhiambo and Rooney were all playing in the lower leagues on loan from their respective clubs before the moves to ICT and with very little experience at that.

This boy has played 89 games in a league that's maybe not great on a footballing level but very competitive.

It does make a nice change from signing players who have never played before for their previous clubs or have been injury ridden at all previous clubs.

  12. I called the club yest and explained to the receptionist I would like to buy the new home shirt. She said she will need to take my details and pass them on to merchandising. Ok no probs!

I never got a call so called back today and told her again what happened. Ok ill put you through to the shop, she said. It rang for a while and went to answer phone. I left a message this morning with all my personal details to call me back. Waited 4/5 hours and called again around 3pm today. Spoke to the same girl, explained the same story. All her responce was she can put a sticker on the new shirt and hold it for me but I have to wait for the call. I am in no way blaming the receptionist she has been vey polite. Is there only one person that deals with sales? I wanted my top asap and I cant even pay for it. You would think the club want my cash. Has this happened to anyone else or is it just me? Any recommendations on who to ask for as im stuck here.

    HEEEEEEEEELP!!

This sort of thing has happened to me before. Being transfered to a phone that isn't even being answered has got to be up there with the best. Is there no way of buying it online? Season after season our background staff seem hopeless at literally delivering the goods.

    Link to Kenny Gillet signing....

Inverness bolster squad ahead of SPL kick-off by snapping up French stopper Kenny Gillet

    Jul 29 2010

FRENCH defender Kenny Gillet has joined Inverness after a successful trial with the Highland club.

Gillet, 24, spent the last three years with Barnet where he made 89 starts.

He left this summer after a contract dispute and turned down an improved offer from the club's new manager Mark Stimson.

Inverness manager Terry Butcher said: "Kenny has impressed us. He's still young but has good experience and gives us the left-side balance and competition we've looked for."

Bordeaux-born Gillet, primarily a left-back, played at Caen before heading to the United Kingdom.

  14. Proctor is a centre-back as cover. But his best position is defensive mid. I'm more than happy with three (Duncan/Cox/Proctor) competing for two slots plus back ups in Morrison and McBain. Spend any money elsewhere.

Priority should be a left back anyway. We let six go and we've now brought five in covering all departures except for Djebi Zadi at left back. That needs to be filled first before we think of strengthing anywhere else.

  15. We defnitely need a left back, centre mid and another forward which i think Butcher has pointed out.

And IMO one more centre back.

I think we're ok for centre-backs (Innes, Munro & Tokely with Proctor or Golly if desperate) and centre-mids (Proctor, Cox, Duncan, Morrison, McBain all competing for 2 places). LB is an absolute priority. Forward I'm not so sure is that much needed. I'd be happy to give Sutherland, Gil and Odi their chance to back-up Rooney. After that, it's more about getting a quality player that can depose a current first-teamer, rather than any squad players. We've a good first team and lots of good young players. I'd like to see Mackay-Steven on a short-termer as it's possible he could really add to the team.

Proctor is no centre half nor is he a centre midfielder, there is no way he could wing it in those roles in the SPL. McBain will probably become a fringe player. So if Cox or Duncan get injured were humped. I'd still not be suprised if Stuart Duff returned.

But as said left back is an absolute priority! I think Golie is a great pro but a regular game at the highest level is just to demanding for him imo.

It might be old news now but i'm sure Stuart Duff is on trial at St Johnstone right now.

  16. 3-2 on penalties. Tuffey saved 3 pens. think Morrison, McBain and Shinnie scored, sub Adam MacLeod had his saved, and Proc missed the target.

Calum Dingwall opened the score in the second half, but Golspie equalised 10 minutes later.

I'm still trying to decide if this was an ok result or not. I know our Under 19s are new and it may take time for them to impress but that lineup still had a few known players in it. I'd have thought Golspie would have even taken a doing from Clach.

  17. Am i alone in feeling some concern and a slight de-ja-vu regarding the showing of our youth in the pre season

have we not had in recent years players such as Zander sutherland, Iain Vigurs and to an extant Rory Mcallister whoi have shone in pre season yet come the games that actually matter they have failled to live up to the hype or they have not been trusted enough to play... barring an odd sub appearance here and there ( Which under Brewster maybe if they were lucky meant they got to double figures in minutes) they werent all they cracked up to be...are we heading down the same road with Sutherland Shinnie and to a lesser extent Ross (who had a good stint deputising in attack last year IIRC )

I completely agree with that, Although i did think Vigurs was a player we should have hung onto. We've even had players from a few years ago that at the time looked really good. Tony Low used to do well coming off the bench and i still don't understand why he was released while Darren Thomson was kept on. Lewis McKinnon was another who i seem to recall banging them in during a pre season, only for him to swap to a defensive position and play for someone like Nairn or Forres. Its rare that a youth player can break through and establish himself in a first team line up but heres hoping one of our boys this year has what it takes.

  18. I was at Double-tee today hoping to get printing on my new home top however I was disapointed to find out that he's not getting in SPL numbers :_thumbdown:

Anyone know where I can get printing on my top either in the Inverness area or in Glasgow?

    Thanks.

Been a while since i lived in Inverness but doesn't the old JJB Sports (I think its changed anyway) on academy street do shirt numbering. I know it used to a few years back anyway.

I tried JJB before and they said they only printed on shirts that could be bought in the shop and am sure the place in academy street doesn't exist anymore.

Yeah your probably right about buying it in store actually, didn't think of that. I think it may be JD Sports now? or something similar. I know you could also get your shirts done in the market, I'm not sure if that is the same place as you mentioned above though. It would be a good idea for the club to be able to supply this in the future. Having it advertised while in the shop may lure some customers to have a number or name put on the top and therefore giving ICT some much needed extra cash.

  19. Ok i think we need a strong 11 out for this one. We can't afford any slip ups and i want a good cup run this year. Its been far too long since we were at Hampden and i seen Queens put us out of the cup once before after Bobby Mann missed a penalty, cannot happen again!

  21. The players used to be numbered from 1 , the goalie, to 11, the left winger and 7, the right winger and so on.

That was in the olden days and it was simple and easy to identify who was playing in what position--names did not appear on the backs of the shirts as I recall.

This worked very well with the former traditional positions like centre half, right half, centre forward etc, but now, with the positioning all chopped and changed around, I don't think this would work effectively.

More's the pity. Seems that changes have been made now more for change's sake rather than for improvement.

The game has been forced into permutations and numbers now and a lot of the verve has been lost.IMHO. :_shocked2:

I presume we now have set squad numbers so it is easier to recognise players. Commentators who are unfamiliar with what Shane Sutherland looks like will be able to tell just by his set squad number and these can then be memorised during games. Also for kids these days wanting their favourite players name and number on their replica shirt means it will match throughout the season regardless of formation or position of that player.
