Actually sitting and thinking about it maybe it isn't as bad as it seems. Craig Levein was first name that was tipped favourite to get the job. Although that would have been a great signing in terms of the name and profile of Levein his wage demands would have been far too high for us. Henrik Larsson or John Hartson again would have been great signings for the name and profile of these individuals but again wage demands would have been high for us. Realistically this left us with Paul Hartley, Kenny Shiels and John Hughes. Now, the personal reasons that Paul has declined us for seem pretty straightforward and I can only sympathise with him as sometimes life is more important than football. So this left us with Kenny Shiels and John Hughes. Both of these men are very good at motavation and that's something that Terry Butcher did apply to us and we've raised to the top with this outlook on football. Kenny Sheils although he has a great work ethic, he comes across a loudmouth pr*ck to the media like we heard on Sportsound last night. So that's left us with John Hughes. His recent CV hasn't done him any justice but he does tick all the boxes that the club needs. He took Falkirk to a Scottish cup final and took Hibs to Europe. Sometimes when managers get sacked or leave clubs we tend to forget the positives. I'm ready to give John his dues and I welcome him aboard at TCS.

It's as clear as day that John Hughes is the runner up to Paul Hartley. If Paul Hartley came out and turned down the job due to the personal reasons he is alluding to then this wouldn't have gone on as long as it has. "But his time at Hibs started so well with money and then fell apart without" - This worries me.

Inverness Courier saying that talk are on going today... Maybe Kenny might see this thread and reconsider (wishful thinking)

Supposedly Hartley turned us down because he split with his wife and doesn't want to move away from his kid.

I will give him his due and trust Kenny on this decision.

Sky Sports News saying John Hughes is getting the gig.

Hartley was not impressed with the boards dilly dallying I hear . Supposedly it was down to personal reasons, nothing to do with contracts.

Even Csaba Lazslo would be better than John Hughes.

How John Hughes has made it this far is mind boggling. I understand that he has the motavational skills but he's not Terry Butcher. Don't get me wrong, John Hughes is a good manager but we would be appointing him at the wrong time of his career.

Peter Lawwell runs the show, so I'm not surprised in the slightest.

After reading the Inverness Courier article I'm still hopeful with getting Paul Hartley. I just hope the John Hughes stories are a smoke screen to the press!

John Hughes got sacked by Hartlepool last year for getting them relegated compared to Paul Hartley who has won 2 promotions with Alloa. I have seen a suggestion that he is out the running due to personal reasons but also Inverness Courier has Paul Hartley as favourite in their back pages tomorrow so who knows!

I can't see him not being interested in the job and I don't think the fact of us being up north would really matter to him. The guy that posted this said there would be an announcement today and I'm still waiting.....

Of course he's just guessing. We all are. Of course but in his previous post, he stated 5 managers that had been interviewed as facts and I am only assuming he was doing the same in that post.
