  1. I watched the incident on Alba and if anything Josh Meekings was at fault. Why did he pass it back Brill? All that does is invite pressure which in this instance resulted in a United goal. Josh should of cleared the ball instead - schoolboy defending. On a positive note. Liam Polworth's goal though
  2. Not sure. Losing Celtic will be no great loss, Aberdeen at TCS will fill the South stand and may get picked for TV.
  3. Are they not due to come back to us tho? Also a big loss of revenue if we lose out on a home game. We are due Celtic, Aberdeen, Dundee United, St Johnstone at home. One of them will have to be away. I really doubt Celtic will want to come back up to Inverness.
  4. After all the excitement of tonight, just a reminder that the Under 20s are at 'Home' tomorrow at Highland Football Academy pitch behind the GES.
  5. I can guarantee that we will be going to Celtic Park.
  6. If Norwich parted with Chris Hughton then they would appoint Neil Lennon with Malky Mackay going to Celtic IMO.
  7. Interestingly enough, I seen an article where he criticised Butcher for the lack of game time he got up here.
  8. I agree with Neil Warnock on the reasons that he declined the Nottingham Forest job. Some foreign owners in Football interfere too much with the football clubs that they own, quite rightly so despite Warnock being out of a job for so long he didn't want to be part of that and good on him. I found it really good the other day that Cellino that was trying to buy Leeds failed the Owners and Directors test by the FA - Something SFA should've done a long time ago in Scotland. I see that Malky Mackay is one of the favoured for the job but I dunno if he'd be willing after the Vincent Tan saga.
  9. Yes i recently had a relapse i had a magnum after saying i wouldn't after due to Judas left

  12. We'll have a new home strip for next season anyway...and the current away strip will remain and just have the sponsor details changed. I've often wondered whether there could be fan input into the strip, even on a very basic level, but probably not feasible, however who is it that chooses the design? Is it simply at the chairman's discretion? This goes for all clubs. This question was asked before (towards end of last year I think) and the chairman stated that if people wanted to have a thread on here to put forward design suggestions then they would be looked at....don't think that happened! I'm not sure where all design suggestions come from, but there's normally a few which are pulled together then looked at by chairman, players, manager, directors etc and a decision made from there (in consultation with the manufacturer). I believe the current away shirt is the best selling we've ever had and the home shirt is up there amongst the top sellers as well, so (commercially at least) the club seem to be getting it right. Another few weeks and I'll hopefully be able allowed to start the teaser pics for the new home shirt...!!! lol Can't wait................
  13. That's not how I understand it. The only time the cup runners up get the Europa spot is if the cup winners have qualified for the Champions league. Therefore if the league finishes with ICT 4th behind Aberdeen and Motherwell; DU v Aberdeen final = Aberdeen win, ICT in Europe, DU win, them in Europe DU v St J final = Winners in Europe Aberdeen v Rangers = 4th place in Europe regardless of result Rangers v St Johnstone = Rangers win, ICT in Europe, ST J win, them in Europe So basically need to finish 4th and need a Aberdeen vs Rangers final. I didn't realise runners up get it if winners are in Champions league.
  14. Today was much better and it gave us a well deserved win and give Yogi some breathing space. I personally found the first half a bit shaky especially from the back four so much so that Partick could catch us out on the counter attacks. I think a bit of tightening up at the back wouldn't go a miss. Credit to Partick Thistle, they passed the ball smoothly on the deck especially in the first half they were unlucky not to score but thankfully Dean Brill had an excellent game today. Danny Williams continued to impress me again like he did a couple weeks back vs Hibs which to the point I was quite surprised that Yogi replaced him with Nick Ross but for me personally I found that James Vincent isn't a winger. I felt that when he got the ball out wide that he would cut in the middle with it thus eliminating the width which has been missing. Greg Tansey linking up with Billy Mckay was really pleasing today and which was providing Billy some support which he has been crying out for just behind him. I wasn't so sure on Richie Foran today and I will tell you if Willie Collum was refereeing today he would have walked for his rash challenge on the Partick player. Some of his passes today were woeful today and unfortunately he hasn't been the same since his injury and same could be said for James Vincent. Another point I would like to add is that parts of today I felt that we were sitting back too deep and inviting trouble and then getting Meekings or Warren to hoof it up the field and same could be said for part of the second half too. Take nothing away, I am not being negative about today. We got three vital points and hopefully the boost to kick on for the rest of the season but there is still room for improvement and I am sure Yogi himself is aware of that. Regarding Richie coming off, He clapped to the home support in appreciation and then shouted something but seemed like banter to the dugout nothing to read into it. Regarding entering Europe via the cup. As I understand it, If Dundee United finishes 4th and reach the final then they HAVE to play Aberdeen for us to get into Europe*. Aberdeen have to beat St Johnstone because if St Johnstone get to the final then the runners up would get the place. Dundee United vs St Johnstone would be the worst case scenario. *Dundee United have to win the cup of course.

  16. Next home game is a rearranged fixture with Hibernian on Thursday 27th of March at Highland Football Academy 2pm KO.
  17. Or could we be sitting her out of the top 6 and having been beaten by Hearts? If, buts and maybes. We were poor before Yogi took over and it has sadly continued.[b/] There have been glimpses of some fine football but serious lack of cutting edge is killing us. We need one of these free transfers he spoke about, preferably a striker to take the weight for Billy's shoulders. At the end of the day it is a results game. If you don't get them then you are out. We have a history of giving managers time and Yogi will be no different. Just think, we could easily have sacked Butcher at least twice! No we weren't. We went the whole of November undefeated and that was including after Butcher left. (Fair enough two games) but we beat a Hibs side at Easter Road very impressively which should have been more than 2 IMO The current fixture schedule isn't really helping at the moment and when you take the example of last Wednesday where you had guys like Danny Williams and Nick Ross bursting with energy and Yogi made the mistake of not playing the likes of them. I can understand why Yogi picked the team he did at Fir Park because he felt that was our strongest team but what we needed was a fully fit squad and unfortunate with the schedule we don't have that. Once we have a fully fit squad and get confidence back. I don't think we will be having these topics arising.
  18. That's a bit harsh. I'd like to think of him as a young Steven Gerrard. I was thinking more the lines of comparing between Scottish players but who knows what could happen with Liam Polworth.
  19. I want both players to stay the club and if I was manager then I would give both players contracts to last up until 2017. Ryan Christie like the Cup Final and last night brought a spark to the team which is what we are needing, fresh legs and fresh ideas to freshen up the team. I can only imagine that the players will emotionally and physically drained from the heavy schedule so maybe now is the time to blood in the youngsters. As I stated in the 'Ryan Christie' thread if ICT have the similar set up as Dundee United then I feel we would come along way and we would get exposure for ICT and who know Ryan Christie may find himself in the Scotland U21 squad, we do know that Billy Stark knows that Scotland still continues past Perth. Liam Polworth as already has been stated by collectiveaction plays a different game to Ryan Christie but I feel that he is good at what he does. The difference with Liam Polworth in his postition I feel he needs bit more strength about him so that he can push players off the ball and keep good ball retention - a loan spell wouldn't go a miss IMO. Liam Polworth reminds me of a young Barry Ferguson. Neither players should be binned IMO - especially Ryan Christie be ludicrous.
  20. From what I seen of him last night he is better than Gauld! (it was only 45 minutes I know but still...) To be fair I haven't really seen much of Ryan Gauld, only game that stands out to me was vs us in the quarter final and he didn't really produce much in 90 mins. Maybe the scottish media over hype him who knows. GMS is over-rated IMO he has the skill but nothing much to him. The point I am really making before I get sidetracked is that ICT could benefit to a similar set up as Dundee United. They have young boys like Andrew Robertson (who was superb in the 5-0 game) John Souttar all very young lads playing first team football. We have the likes of Ryan Christie, Liam Polworth, Adam Evans, Ali Sutherland (maybe next season) that could get a massive benefit of little bit exposure in the first. I am sure as hell it wouldn't happen if Butcher was here but John Hughes is very impressive when it comes to young talent. Now you're talking! Whether it is under the managerial vision of John Hughes or a.n other, a vibrant, cohesive youth policy is the way forward for I.C.T. Both Aberdeen and United have worked extremely diligently in nurturing and promoting youth and their endeavour in this department is now paying dividends. What are the options? Bring in high numbers of young English players and hope we strike it lucky with one or two? No. How about paying out transfer fees for "good" players? No. Well, lets "grow" our own. In the present u-20's and u-17's potential and talent abounds. A no brainer! It's definitely the way to go. Blood the youngsters in and also gives some of the first teamers a well deserved break.

  22. That's actually a good point you've raised but the SPFL being the SPFL I doubt it.
  23. I agree that Ryan Christie should get the nod on Saturday. From the live reports from last night it sounded like he added a bright spark up front which was lacking in the first half and that's a very good positive to take from last night's game. I have watched Ryan Christie many a time in the U20 home games and always stood out to me to have the potential to make something out of himself. If you take the leaf out of Dundee United's book, we could have our very own Ryan Gauld in the shape of Ryan Christie.
  24. Look at Davie Moyes at Man United. League they play like midtablers. Tonight I watched their game and before the game I thought they were going to be put out but they totally blew Olympiacos away and are now in the next stage of champions league. Just shows you that you don't need to jump the gun so soon.
