  1. On the one hand they say " New Club ", Rangers can't keep old contracts for players

On the other hand they say " Old Club ". Rangers must accept transfer ban inflicted on the old regime, because of some old draconian rule meant for new applicants to the league.

    Beyond me,

They ( SFA ) then say you can't jioin if you don't accept transfer ban

Does SFA - Stand "for Sweet Fanny Adams" ?

Quote from Len Shackleton's book - Clown Prince of Soccer -

  2. Ever since Preston supporters rioted on the Bury ground I have not been able to stand them.. I remember some clown suporting Preston had a whisle he kept blowing it at criucial moments

The ref took the players off

The Preston lot charged onto the pitch

  3. Celtic

    Hearts

    Dundee United

    Motherwell

    St Mirren

    Kilmarnock

    Aberdeen

    ICT

    Ross County

    St Johnstone

    Hibernian

    Dundee

    My Guesstimate

I think St. Mirren will benifit from extra support from fringe Rangers fans wanting SPL football ,

I think Partick Thisle will too in the Div 1

  4. I suspect that a good few loyal and long time fans are losing their zeal for the club

It's a shame really, as a newcomer to the area I really tried to get involved.

I took my daughter to a game her first game in Scotland, she was very disapointed not just with the standard of play, but with the quiteness of the supporters.

The St Mirren fans sang " when the Saits" throughout the whole match, and totally drowned the home support.

On leaving the ground, a normally quiet girl said at the top of her voice "a waste of £25 ".

Anyway I have decided to buy a ticket whether I will use it , is another thing.

I have always supported the local side wherever I have lived.

    Just get the fans singing.

  5. At least they didn't pick 5th placed club as they did in England in 1919.

Extract from Wikipedia History of Arsenal

The club controversially rejoined the First Division in 1919,[17][18] despite only finishing sixth in 1914–15, the last season of competitive football before the First World War had intervened — although an error in the calculation of goal average meant Arsenal had actually finished fifth,[19] an error which was corrected by the Football League in 1975.[20] The First Division was being expanded from 20 teams to 22, and the two new entrants were elected at an AGM of the Football League. One of the extra places was given to Chelsea, who had finished 19th in the First Division and thus had been already relegated. The other spot could have gone to 20th-placed Tottenham Hotspur (also relegated), or to Barnsley or Wolves, who had finished third and fourth in the Second Division respectively.

  6. Two weeks today will be Newcos first game if indeed it is Dundee who take the step up:

    Saturday 28th July @ 15:00

    Ramsdens Cup

Brechin City FC v The Rangers FC

Will they have a team though?

I don't think this is the case because:

    1. If New Rangers are a continuation of old Rangers then they would enter the comp in Round 4 because they finished 2nd in the SPL/

    2. If they are a new club, then they are ineligible for the competition because they were not SFA members at the time of the draw and it is unlikey they will be full members of the SFA in time for the commencement of the competition.

What's the bet the Appeals Tribunal determines the penalty as suspension or explusion from the Cup. A competition they would not be eligible for anyway.

For goodness sake throw the dam rule book in the bin

Course Rangers or whatever they are called will have to be in the cup

As Douglas Bader said or similar

“Rules are for the obedience of fools and the guidance of wise men.”

  7. :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: From the heart but do we not also need to jettison specific local muppets as well !!

Totally agree. The Board seriously need to up their game, not sure if they can and I have said this on previous threads before. Too many people on the board for the wrong reasons.

Are not people on the board because they invested in the club.

Many many years ago I was told it cost at least £100,000 to join the board at Burnley.

  8. I don;t think we should be so pessimistic

I still think there are a lot of genuine people in the game.

I know a lot of distgusting things happen, but we should not let it get us down

The media don't help boosting up situations

True we all like to see our team at the top , but hell of a lot of spectators never see that but they turn up to cheer their local teams week in week out,

  9. You're right Charles about the contradictions, and being on my iPhone at the moment I know how to scroll quickly to the top, but not the bottom, so I'm not gonna wear out my finger looking for a source of all this (mildly interesting) guff.

However the author makes the usual mistake of confusing 'English' and 'British' all the way through. So we get occasionally accurate bits such as James VI and I, followed by 'Elizabeth I' and 'Elizabeth II' which are bollix. We also get 'Union with Scotland' (Scotland and who else I ask myself!).

If you are born in England, you think of yourself as British – Great British in fact.

If you are born in Scotland, you think of yourself as Scottish

    It is know in Psychology

(as the little man syndrome )

    i. e. The big guy doesn’t waste his time bragging. Or saying how good he is

You see it’s not important to him

  10. I am sorry if I seem to ne hogging the floor on this one

Regarding The football , When I lived in Sussex I watched The old Wimbledon at Crystal Palace, they played the most amazing football, but still the fans stayed away

When the team played Man U , they gave up most of the stadium to United. It made for a fantastic day out, and a lot of money for the club

Maybe season ticket holders could be given a free ticket to bring a friend with them to a St Mirren match or similar as an incentive to give up their seat

  11. Something Don said above reminded me of JFK, in Berlin

Ask not what the club can do for you, But what you can do for the club,

    seems to fit

    makes me feel rather guilty

I have to take my car to Elgin today for its annual service the cost of which would more than buy a season ticket.

    I must cogitate that one
