  1. Not obsessed - my point is that giving updates on ticket sales is more than likely to generate more sales. More ticket sales means more money for the club and, more importantly, an increased chance of getting a few more people to become regulars. To say we shouldn't be concerned about people that have never been to a game before is effectively saying we don't need or want any new fans. The logical conclusion of that is that, as existing fans shuffle off this mortal coil, we will eventually run out of fans and the last one out can turn off the lights. Some of us are doing all we can to encourage more people to get to the game which is the best chance we will ever have of increasing the fan base. It is disappointing that plenty people are not that bothered about this and keeping the number of tickets sold so far a closely guarded secret is not helping!
  2. That Disney look like they've got much stock.....
  3. I asked someone at the club the other day why they don't release the figures and they said it is "because they're not putting any pressure on themselves to achieve a particular target". Do they never watch Children In Need or Comic Relief? Giving an occasional update can only generate more ticket sales and is news which keeps us in the public eye. If you don't have a target then you're never going to achieve it! Man - that sounds like some kind of business mantra which I should copyright and make a fancy poster out of with clouds and seashells on it. Can't remember what slogan was on that Athena tennis poster.....
  4. I have secured two coaches for Cup Final day and am looking to fill them with schoolkids and their parents. I will subsidise these coaches so that the return cost is just £10 for kids and £15 for adults that accompany them. This is about a third of the cost of public transport so hopefully we can get 100 people to the match that would otherwise not have gone. Departure points will be finalised in the next 48 hours. It would be great if other businesses or individuals would chip in some money so that we can organise more coaches and I would appreciate it if you can pass this request on to any charitable contacts you have. £750 would subsidise another coach but any amount is welcome. Please contact me if you can help or if you have access to more coaches (which are thin on the ground). We will be promoting this via the schools in the next two days and it will only be available for bookings where children are accompanied by adults.
  5. You get an uninterrupted view from all seats in Hampden (no pillars or obstacles) but being behind the goal in the East Stand, especially lower down, it is difficult to see how close to the goal line the action is when it's at the far end (like any other stadium). I definitely wouldn't be put off by that - the atmosphere in the East Stand will be much better!
  6. I got coach prices a week ago from Maynes of £950 (which would be £20/head). Don't know if they're still available but if this is an acceptable price and you think the demand is there I'm happy to get involved in organising. I'm already discussing with CJT and school liaison about doing the same as last year as it would be tragic if the demand was there and the only reason people wouldn't go would be for lack of transport. I don't want to step on any toes and I know CJT are doing everything they can but if some key people on this forum were to help promote it then we may indeed be able to swell the numbers.
  7. I simply cannot understand why the club won't release updates of ticket sales and instead treat it as some kind of secret. There's every chance that making this information public will encourage more people to decide to go on the basis that "if they're going, then I'm going". The club should be taking every opportunity to publicise the final, every snippet of information is more column inches in the press. I would have thought a "Let's get more than County" or "Lets get more than Falkirk" campaign could only result in more sales which means more money for both clubs (Falkirk & ICT, not County!). I don't have an issue with glory-seekers going to the Cup Final and I think it's short sighted for people to be slagging them off for it. The chances are this is the best and possibly only chance we will ever have of winning the Cup and the possibility of getting a few hundred more regular fans as a result should be a bonus, Maybe someone from the Club could explain why they are so secretive about ticket numbers?
  8. My colleague is part-owner of The Vintage at Drygate in Duke Street, Glasgow - a great venue with a beer hall serving a wide range of craft beers and good food. If anyone organising coaches (or indeed cars or pedestrians!) is still looking for a lunch stop then this venue can accommodate hundreds, has plenty on-site coach parking and is a short drive from Hampden. They're open anyway but will designate themselves an ICT venue and gear up accordingly if there is enough interest and they get some advance notice. Let me know if you're looking for somewhere with good food and drink. Details at http://drygate.com/the-vintage/
  9. I cannot believe this - the club will surely contest it. If this results in Josh being suspended then there will be dozens of similar investigations every single week. Any potential denial of a goal scoring opportunity not spotted or dealt with properly by the referee could be investigated. For starters "Why was Zaluska not penalised for punching Eddie in the back of the head?" and 'Why did the referee instruct the Celtic wall to stand just 8m from the ball for our free kick?" What punishment will be given to the three officials who failed to do their job properly in the first place? It's an absolute joke but no surprise coming from the SFA who couldn't run a bath.
  10. Does anyone know what the two blokes sitting behind each goal at the cup final were meant to be doing? They had 'pitch control' or something similar on the back of their HiVis jackets, were sitting on fold out stools, one behind each post, and seemed to be watching the posts....or the grass.... Best guesses so far: Although they didn't look particularly fast or fit they were there to stop/tackle streakers? Make sure no-one nicks the goalposts during the game? Goalposts recently painted and had to make sure no-one leaned against them and got paint all over their Sunday best? There to break up any fights? Give the impression that it's a European match with extra 'officials' behind the goal? Any help on solving this mystery greatly welcome!
  11. Where were the big flags? I never saw them anywhere.
  12. Just letting you all know that a couple of schools have accepted my offer of tickets and between them are sending 40 kids and 5 teachers to swell the ranks. Thanks to old caley girl for helping sort this out.
  13. Unfortunately my old school (Millburn Academy) is unable to find 4 teachers that are able to escort 40 kids to the final so have had to decline my offer. If anyone out there has contacts at another school that can organise this then I'm still offering to pay for 40 under 16s and 4 adults (train and match tickets). Let me know asap while there are still train tickets left.
  14. It does seem odd to me that it is so difficult to get buses organised. Is this because of a physical shortage of buses or are the bus companies are trying to cash in and overcharge? If this is the case then shame on them. I do agree that if people have an easy and definite travel option then they're much more likely to commit to going.
  15. It appears that only 3,500 tickets have been sold so far which to me seems disappointing - only 700 per day on what you would expect to be the busiest days for selling tickets. If we can't get people to support the team now then we never will. I have a business in the central belt and will happily contribute £1,000 to pay for train and match tickets for 40 school kids and 4 adults. I've been in touch with my old school this morning to organise this. Surely there must be hundreds of similar businesses around (or with a link to) Inverness that could do the same? If 50 companies did this then that's another 2,000 youngsters, some of whom just might get hooked on supporting the team. Being in the central belt I'm not connected in the Inverness business community but if anyone does have business contacts can you suggest to them that they do the same?
