Given how many times we have lost talent and money by not having our players secured on long term contracts I find it amazing we are in the position where we could have yet another rebuilding job on our hands this summer :frustrated01:

Three reasons we are unable to sign up players on long term deals :-

    Agents, Agents, Agents !

From the club statement, and the suggestion that Greg has parted company with his agent, it seems to me that things were happening without the players knowledge. McInnes is probably right in that he and Hughes were of the opinion that negotiations were progressing as they should. It also looks like someone at Aberdeen was given a heads up as to the trigger clause. To me it seems that Tansey was called in by chairman to discuss transfer and that he was shocked by dealings going on behind his back.

Regardless Macinnes must have known he didn't have ICTFC permission to talk to anyone . Playing the daft laddie doesn't wash

not sure if I am putting 2+2 and making 5 but based on the various bits of info (rumour?) floating around perhaps its a case of the agent touting the player without his knowledge or agreement? That would fit the comments made up to now and does not then make McInnes or ICT liars .....

Any club talking to an agent or a player who is signed by another club without the holding clubs permission means they are "tapping" which is illegal Macinnes owes ICTFC  an apology Aberdeen were in the wrong !

  4. If ICT had acted illegally to stop Tansey speaking to them then no personal terms could have been agreed and Aberdeen had no agreement with the player. However if Aberdeen had already agreed terms then that is tapping a player which is illegal. Aberdeen required ICTs agreement to speak to the player yet they appear to agree that they spoke to the player meaning they did so without the proper consent .Maybe they should be careful what they wish for in asking for an inquiry doth they not protest too much!!!

Sky now reporting the Tansey deal off.

Sounds like it was never on or it was some dodgy deal coming out of Aberdeen . Whatever he is apparently with us until at least end of season . Perhaps initial posts that the club had failed the supporters were unfounded.

With our Premiership refs getting paid more than some of the full time professionals they are refereeing for what is essentially a part time hobby I really don't see what they have to complain about.

Good point Kingsmills I reckon they get paid for 1 match what our average wage per player is earning in a week !

I imagine that neither Hamilton or Killie with their plastic pitches will have it....not that Killie's worked anyway....

No need for USH on plastic pitches just a saline wash if there has been a frost . Biggest issue with plastic pitches is snow but you would have to question that after the Killie  game

Nothing ironic in it all.  Quite the opposite.  These are two very different kind of issues.  It is perhaps strange that the club is very reluctant to release certain information which one might think should be in the public domain, whilst the manager makes public criticisms of players which should best be kept behind closed doors.

Do the management have control over what our manager says to the press - I doubt it judging by some of his outbursts re playing budgets ,talking to D Utd etc

Bear in mind that season ticket sales are up this year on the back of last season.  Crowd figures include season ticket sales whether or not season ticket holder actually attended or not.

I think that is a Ross County ploy ICTFC base the figures of those through the gate do they not?

I think I agree, we seem to be able to sit in and keep possession deep letting team play infront of us, but when we have to step up against teams who sit in we lack a cutting edge or creativity to open them up. When the 'better' teams come to us they try to go for the 3 points where as the 'poorer' teams tend to be more defensive and dont want to loose - with our lack of width, no overlapping runs and slow approach play its easier for them to stiffle us and hit us on the break, where thats what we tend to do against attacking teams.

Pretty well sums it up so Mr Hughes the solution is?

  11. If these outlets are franchised out the club get a lump sum upfront and have no control over price, quality or delivery.

if the price and quality is to improve the club need to run the outlets !

  12. Whilst Storey is a great find he is not an out and out striker as he obviously likes going wide. If Fisher had come through perhaps that triumvirate of storey wide ,fisher through the centre and Vincent coming from deep would have worked but yet again this season injuries dictate the set up and shape .Hughes does not  have the choice!

Looks like another striker needed before the end of the month failing which it is a bottom  6 but hopefully well  clear of relegation !

  13. This pay what you want appears to add 10% to the crowd for the games selected. Regretfully the twice we have tried it the team have been woeful so we get no real spin  off for future games.

However if we do not try different proposals we will never get back to the heady days of 4000 + for average games !

So Yogi questioning a player/players desire to play through injury.

He obviously knows who he is targeting, but I can't help feeling it's a dangerous route to go down.

Given our players are a close bunch I can't see what good this kind of thing is going to do.

The reaction Yogi is looking for may work in the opposite way.

Not Garry Warren that's for certain Captain courageous!

The Trust is controlled by Trustees who originally were/?included David Sutherland, David Stewart and ex Provost Allan Sellar who is now quite elderly and I believe may have stepped down. In that event a Muirfield Mills representative MAY have succeeded him, but I don't know.

In terms of what the "charitable trust" actually is, considerable hoops had to be jumped through back in around 2000/01 in order to meet the legal criteria for setting it up. For instance, as I recollect, the ICT Trust actually has to be in a position to assist any sporting cause although I am not aware of it ever having operated outwith the ICT remit. Whether it would be able to assist non-sporting causes I don't know, but in any case I think all of this Trust-Hospice link is very highly unlikely.

The Muirfield Mills consortium, for instance, exists specifically to benefit of ICT but also expected "clout" such as having a board presence in return for its investment. One of the reasons for it taking so long to set up MM's involvement with the club was the negotiations over just that. I therefore couldn't see MM voluntarily offloading its interest in that manner and in any case the Hospice statement says that the shares originate from a Highland business family while most, if not now all, of the MM guys work abroad.

On the other hand it has been suggested earlier in this thread that it's former club director Sandy Catto and his family who are behind the donation and I am 100% convinced that this is correct. The clincher is the fact that Sandy Catto's personal shares and those held by Scotlog, which is a Catto family business, add up exactly to the numbers quoted by the Hospice. As I recollect, quite a large number of these shares constitute all or part of the 300,000 odd that were originally bought by the late Ian C Fraser (Coffin John) in the 1996 share issue and subsequently sold by him to Sandy Catto for a sum which I think I know but would be reluctant to state here publicly in case slightly wrong.

Companies house indicates Richard Smith (Muirfield mills) has been director and trust company secretary for a number of years but that aside I agree Charles it would not make sense to give away what they had insisted on before becoming involved and the fact that scotlog+catto = 19% is the most obvious link .

Not that it really matters as there is no benefit to the club financially until we find out who will be the next big player for the club going forward.
