  1. Starchief - why on earth do you bother posting on this forum when all you do is be totally crass, negative and obnoxious? Like so many others you don't savour the fact that the club have again achieved a top six finish and are striving to compete with far bigger and better supported clubs than ours? We all desire a hugely talented and pacey wide player but, apart from an inconsistent Dorans, we do not possess the like. Therefore we have to look to players who can create openings through the middle with good movement and clever vision. Christie seems to possess both but that matters little to you as long as you can have a poke at the current manager. As an ICT fan since the merger I was thrilled today to see Shinnie, Polwoth, Ross and Christie on the pitch and would go as far as to say that they were among the top performers for the team today. But that will no doubt be TOO POSITIVE for you and your Tansey at centre half comment sums up your approach to the attempts of the new manager to play a more open and attractive system.
  2. Mahonio - please read what I said! (our goals for/against LATELY)! I can also study league tables so far this season but that has little relevance to our latest team shape and performances. There is no doubt that our recent attacking play has lacked fruition but surely this lends itself even more to giving other players the chance to impress? And our 'regular' back four have been particularly weak of late and were very average today!. Macduffer - I actually detest the 'rolled up sleeves' attitude and relate this to much of why Scottish football is light years behind our European counterparts but your desire for 'tactical awareness' is extremely idealistic and certainly was not of great relevance to our early season successes! I am delighted that you wish to be positive but this seasons' early success was certainly not based on tactical awareness nor stunning managerial prowess! Surely the emergence of an organised and structured Aberdeen/Dundee United are more relative? For me today I took great pleasure out of the fact that we played two young home grown lads who performed reasonably well and might turn out to be huge successes at the club.
  3. IHE ? Planning for next season why? Because we played a refreshing team which included three young inverness lads - who contributed more than our 'more experienced' senior players (Meeking,Vincent,Draper). The back four were at sixes and sevens from the off but seem untouchable in terms of team selection. (Have a look at our goals for/against column lately). Kingsmills - negativity seems to be your forte but not a word of positivity. And that goes for Macduffer too. Having been at the game I was more than delighted to see Polworth and Christie starting and even more so as the game progressed and both contributed to most of our good play. Surely these guys have to figure from the start in our remaining fixtures.
  4. I am surprised at the lack of enthusiasm from fans for playing both Polworth and Christie in a team that is very obviously struggling to create in the midfield area. Please study the terrific involvement of both in last Wednesday's goal at Tannadice. 'Davie' posts on the sack the manager thread that we should not play these talented young lads until there is nothing to play for??? What an astonishingly poor attitude and one obviously not shared by the manager, staff and fans at Dundee Utd who regularly play and support Gauld, Robertson, Dow and Armstrong in their starting eleven. Having watched all of the last six ICT matches I would question greatly the contributions made by Vincent and Watkins and their lack of a regular goal threat is hugely apparent. I also find it strange that most fans argue for a 4-2-3-1 system but also question the lack of attacking width - most football folk will tell you that while a 4-2-3-1 gives excellent defensive cover it does not allow for natural width when going forward. Therefore if Foran has not recovered from his knee injury from Tannadice I would go for; Brill/Esson??? Raven/Meekings/Warren/Tremarco Polworth/Draper Tansey/Christie/Shinnie Mackay. Credit to Caley Boy, Jnr ICT and Alex Jones for being some of the very few who are keen to see the young talented players given a chance NOW!
  5. Bad performance today but always a tricky fixture. not hugely relevant in the scheme of things and more important games coming up. Honestly think we need to rotate things a bit and young Christie is one who I would like to see more of. By all accounts he's got huge potential but needs game time. also like to see more of Watkins and devine.
  6. Sorry but I disagree with givemeaccccc and one or two others on this. CC did not make a derogatory comment on the crowd who attended the match - quite the opposite in fact. What he did say is that the club DESERVES more fans at the games and I doubt there is any ICT supporter who would disagree with that. I also read Christie's Inverness Courier column last Friday where he compliments every fan who made the effort to get down to the semi final and even makes the point that the club must look after the regular season ticket holders for the final as well as attempting to engage new supporters in the club.
  7. very strange selection given that Cooper is currently injured! Watkins hasn't played much football lately and that you would include Connor Pepper in front of Christie who has been terrific all season with our -20s. Having not seen the game at Killie I would suggest that we line up as; Brill Raven/Devine/Warren/Tremarco Doran/Draper/Shinnie/Williams Ross Mackay Subs: Tansey/Polworth/Vincent/Christie/Esson.
  8. Christie and Evans are certainly the two with most potential and hopefully Hughes will recognise the benefit in introducing young players into the first team squad as the season progresses. As others have rightly said these two have been the most impressive in the -20s matches this season and Christie, as well as being the top scorer by a long way, has excelled in almost every match. I don't know if I agree with the comment from Tob that he lacks pace as I've certainly not noticed this at the games I've watched. Having played against his father I would also point out that he certainly didn't lack pace and if young Christie turns out as good as his dad the club will be on to a winner and I reckon that young Christie may even turn out to be a better player than his father although doubt if Christie senior would agree! It would be great for the club to introduce a few highly rated youngsters over the next couple of seasons and the current successes at Dundee United and Aberdeen shows this can be done whilst still producing terrific results and performances.

Also at match today and agree Aberdeen the better side for much of the first half with some of the more experienced ICT players showing very little. Defensively ICT looked all over the place and the movement of Aberdeen's front three caused lots of problems. Agree ICT Roughi that second half was far better and Christie was certainly involved in much of Caley Thistle's best play. I have also attended most of the -20 matches at the stadium and have been hugely impressed with young Christie and bit surprised he hasn't figured at all in the first team this season. ICT could well have got something out of the game on their second half showing but paid the penalty for that disorganised first half display.
