  1. Do I feel robbed? No, we should have been able to defend a bit better. I do feel hard done by however.

The first Killie goal was as the result of a speculative shot that took a deflection. The defence didn't track back and left their striker one-on-one with Esson. The free kick that led to the second equaliser was a bit soft I felt, and followed a head shot on Nick Ross that should have been dealt with by the referee but wasn't Killie then got another lucky break when the ball came back off the post and hit Esson on the back and went in. The third came about from some sloppy attacking - that would be my main gripe with us today, we gave the ball away when we had them under pressure too many times - unfortunately we gave the ball away on the halfway line and they scored from the header.

Difficult to judge our first two goals as I was at the other end, but the third by Williams was a beauty. That nob Rob Maclean was spouting some pish about it being deflected - dream on no Killie player got near it, including the keeper.

And now we come to the waste of a skin that was the referee. WTF did Macgennis have to do to get booked? Every jump that he had no chance of winning was either a barge or an elbow into the defender (in fact all the Killie forwards were guilty of that). The last "challenge" that led to his final warning looked like a clear elbow into Warren. A yellow on its own at the least. That the treatment handed out to Nick Ross went unpunished was appalling. And why did he not need to use his vanishing spray for free kicks on the stand side, but did need to on the far side? His "I'm in charge" talk to Pascali when he was shoving Warren at the free kick they scored from was pointless, considering he then proceeded to do nothing. And what was the added time at the end of the match about? 1 minute which was taken up by the Killie defender rolling about after Meekings was booked.

And why was Pascali pulling his own player's shirt at a set piece in the second half? Clumsy attempt to con the ref]

Well said in all respects mate. Essentially the exact same frustrations I had with the game today

  2. Why is it that some people don't give players a chance before criticising players (transfer market, come on!).

Both these guys are INTERNATIONALS so can't be that bad.

Most of our squad would have been unknown or had "bad stats" before signing but now look at them!

That isn't criticism of certain posters by the way.

Maybe international players in the sense that they ply their trade in a country different from birth ... Anything more than that is stretching it a bit in the case of Prince and non-existent as far as I can see for Vucanovic ... But I take your point about our existing squad maybe not all having startling career stats. Appreciate we have a budget to operate in but given we are an established top 6 team, can we not start to dip our toe in slightly more ambitious waters? Without being overly simplistic, if we have the smallest squad but comparable attendances with 3 or 4 other SPL teams, are we being slightly over-cautious? That website I referred to is well worth a browse btw ... Astonishing source of up-to-date data even to refer to if nothing else ... Foolhardy to dismiss so readily IMHO.

    Your point lacks logic.

Existing budget only allows for small squad...if we are to pay more, then we would need to shrink squad further to be able to afford it.

If there's a bit of spare cash, then it's use needs to be viewed going forward. You can't base long term spending by way of increased wages on one off, non guaranteed, cash injections...how do you cover the wages next season without it?

We're not awash with cash and being "over cautious" is better than being overdrawn with debt/costs we can't sustain...that would be foolhardy!

Hmm and being 3rd in SPL and in qtr-final of cup .. With only 1 other SPL team able to reach semi .. And not replacing only recognised out-and-out striker .. having actually got £££,£££ ... Doesn't lack logic? ... Or is McKay's £ just plugging a pre-existing hole?

There is also Billy's saved wage. In essence all I was saying was ...great look at free agents but, given the money in and saved wage, surely we can look at people (even at a slightly lower level) that have a proven goalscoring history to a reasonable degree ... Instead of looking at people that on the face of it look more like a complete punt. Everyone has an opinion and I still trust the club's hierarchy has best interests at heart.

  5. The career stats for the Prince and the Serb are thoroughly underwhelming on www.transfermarkt.co.uk

Even the Prince's Dutch League experience in his "pomp" ... "Has been"? ... More like never really was... Lol.

Apologies to anyone who has maybe answered this but ... Why on earth didn't we go for Alan Gow (previously trained with, worked with Yogi but now snapped up by St Mirren)?

That same site shows we have comfortably the smallest squad in the Premiership.

In this particularly exciting season with a real prospect of a final, a Euro place and a 6 figure sum from Wigan, I still struggle to see why we can't try aiming a little higher when it comes to getting an experienced, free agent out-and-out striker so we can kick on just that bit more.

5 / 10 years from now will we look back on this season and think wow what an opportunity missed? Really hope not.

  6. Matthew Lindsay a journalist with the evening times has called us the most attractive footballing team in the country by along way. What a season we have been having

Put that in your pipe and smoke it Chick Young ... Btw, isn't football commentary/analysis meant to be impartial. BBC Radio Scotland are s?&# at it ... Between Gordon/Miller pro-Aberdeen and Chick Young pro-St Mirren etc

Its funny you say that as it wasnt just Chick who was having a dig about time wasting but miller was asked at half time about us so far this season and he came out with the dribble that our possession based game in his 'personal view' is boring and has to much passing back 'for his liking'. I know we have had some games where we have struggled and maybe not got the ball forward enough especially last season when we were learning it but again the bbc in stead of praising us for what we have achieved they always have someone on hand just to find one thing to pick at, pathetic really.

The funnier thing is that I didn't even hear their commentary/analysis today ... But sadly I know that's what they are like every week ... Pathetic!

Hope we get Graeme Shinnie signed up next

Huh? ... I'm figuring you've been asleep for a month ... or you're hoping he does a Richie Britain? ;)

    Try googling 'irony'...

Lol yeh alright ... I did have a winky smile at the end so my post was just for a giggle too :)

  9. Very happy with that. No room to be complacent but play to our potential and the semi final beckons and then the dream is on.

Couldn't have put it better myself! This is what I put on Facebook an hour before the draw ...

"Countdown to Scottish (FA) Cup quarter-final draw at 2pm ... Fingers crossed for an ICT home draw against a smaller club (just for a change :)) ... and a Dundee Utd-Celtic clash at Tannadice ... please ;) "

Raith are no mugs ... but happy with that!

  10. Here's the highlights of the Celtic game c/w Murd Urquhart's challenge on McGrain

Loving this thread. Watched the youtube Celtic-Thistle highlights a couple of times in recent weeks. Was at that Killie game myself, a little kid excited at the prospect of Thistle taking on a big Scottish team. Archie MacPherson's somewhat patronising analysis should come with a health warning though. Was going to say changed days. Yes, Inverness football has changed but central belt ignorance hasn't! lol

  11. Doran injured or dropped?

    any coincidence ?

    http://www.inverness-courier.co.uk/Sport/Football/Its-time-to-get-down-to-business-Yogi-05022015.htm

At the end of the day, Doran is a great player for us. His goals/minutes ratio is very good in 2015. He has a point with what he says in the Courier. He's a young lad who just wants to play and I don't think he's had anything like a fair crack of the whip ever since the League Cup Final.

  12. Hope this doesn't smack of desperation (cos it's not ;)) ... but the website below is actually quite an interesting resource.

    http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/

Then go to Transfers and Rumours / Transfers / Without Contract

You can do a search for strikers without a contract, search by nationality and order the results by date became available or value etc

Apart from Jordan Slew there are some interesting recent releases now available include: Andy Johnson (ex-England international), Rob Earnshaw, Scott McDonald (ex-Celtic, Middlesbrough), Mikkel Beckmann (Denmark), Adama Diomande (Norway), Edson Buddle (US) ...

Appreciate wage demands, lack of ICT resources, player's desire (or otherwise!) to live in Highlands ... but one can dream!

We are not Aberdeen but they've picked up some useful players who are ex-big clubs or maybe a bit down on their luck.

Apologies if teaching anyone's granny to suck eggs ... must have too much time on my hands :)

  13.

Completely underwhelmed by ICT ... this had the potential to be a historic season for ICT (Europe, Scottish Cup) ... and still can be tbf but we haven't helped ourselves one bit. I cannot believe we are the only SPL team to have not taken in a player ... and that after selling our talisman (and only) out-and-out striker. We were excited about Scottish Cup prospects especially with the expected cull of SPL teams in the last round and the forthcoming "round of 16". I wonder what the odds are on Dundee knocking out Celtic and us failing to get past Partick because we miss a sitter or two. The question is ... was Yogi's talk of active looking at a couple of prospects/contingency planning just flannel to placate/deceive the loyal supporters. Fedup.com #lackofambitionareus

Wouldn't blame Yogi for this one. He can only deal in his allowable budget. Cameron started all this contingency blarney so let's hear from him as to why his plan failed desperately.

Yes, fair one. Yogi can only play the cards he is dealt. Cameron is the one to explain what a contingency plan is.
