  1. To be honest I don't think it's been a bad window, we've picked up 2 young midfielders who can integrate into the squad and with one hopefully good enough to replace Tansey when he inevitebly leaves in the summer. What we need now is to get current players tied down to contracts beyond the end of the season Thats where all of our funds and effort should be going as we have the core of a very good squad
  2. McInnes acting with integrity.... I'll take that with a pinch of salt given the rumours that fly round about him and his players wives! Fact of the matter is you can come in banging on about release clause being mentioned by ICT source, Tanseys agent should be ashamed of himself, he is not an ICT source and I would imagine has broken a confidentiality clause! And so should Aberdeen, if you knew weeks ago, come in for him then, don't wait till the last day of the window trying to shaft us out of getting time to get a replacement in! Only club to blame here are Aberdeen, conduct your business earlier in the window and don't try to shaft clubs on deadline day. Aberdeen are quick to mouth off about the old firm stealing talent.... Well you've just turned into the third wheel of that, how about getting a better scouting network set up than constantly coming in and taking our best players!
  3. Fact of the matter with the Tansey deal is.... Who made it public? Yes Aberdeen have met release clause and nobody knows the ins and outs of the contract details, but until we physically accept the offer and allow Tansey to speak to Aberdeen, none of it should have become public.... probably why we as a club are unhappy with Aberdeen, because they have gone and made it public to unsettle our player and force the move. Pretty poor if you ask me.
  4. Would love to see that.... but Rotherham are a big side compared to us playing in a much higher quality league with better facilities... could never of seen it happen them sending him back this way for development unless it was to Celtic really. Plus I would imagine they would be looking for a club to fully cover wages which we couldn't do.
  5. Abdul Osman apparently being chased by the likes of Blackpool as well so think we could struggle to tie that down with competition from down south. If it's true I would love to see Ofere back with us, but can't see it to be honest. Aiden Connolly I'm unsure of taking the gamble on a player that hasn't been playing, I believe he is probably going to sign for Raith according to reports. Everyone talking about signing forward players, personally I think we need some cover at the back as we are down to the bare bones if anyone gets injured! When we are talking at times of Drapes or Wedderburn having to play centre half it certainly isn't a good position to be in! Why aren't we competing with the likes of St Johnstone for Blair Alston
  6. My thoughts on the game were mainly frustration..... I see a lack of confidence in the squad right now, there were limited passes going forward and 9/10 when the pass was forward it was a long ball which usually tended to be too long and ended up in Stirling goal kick. Mutombo for me was the bright spark of the night, he was surprisingly good and his first touch was unreal at times... however his decision making and final pass needs a bit of work, but watching the interview after the game and with him stating how hard it has been to get back from injury I think this is a certain watch this space and I would like to see him starting against Partick, the more match sharp he becomes the more I think he could become a key cog for us for the rest of the season. Disagree with what was said about Storey, thought he played as well as he could of given the poor service and he held the ball up well at times. You could tell he was a frustrated figure. Disappointed in the Fisher injury, he was chasing down everything while he was on, could do with a pure grafter like that in the side that will force mistakes. Nice to see Foran back, Roberts looked completely uninterested when he came on which is worrying.
  7. I'm not shy in stating I'm a big fan of Hughes, he's worked wonders with what is at his disposal and I hope he stays for many years to come. I understand his frustrations in not being allowed to even be offered the opportunity to talk to United, and I've always said I admire his honesty and how forthcoming he is.... however on this occasion after you've just put pen to paper on a new deal I think it's a bit disrespectful to have come out and said the things he's said. Sometimes it's better to just bite your tongue. Anyways, it's said now so let's bury it and get on with climbing the table and getting the rest of the lads signed up.
  8. Fon Williams Meekings Warren Devine Raven Williams Draper Tansey Polworth Vincent Storey My feeling would be playing wing backs would allow Polworth and Vincent a bit more freedom to support Storey as Tansey and Draper can also cover. Storey desperately needs support up there and this is the system I would play.
  9. Haha.... yeah I think I'm maybe substituting slow with lazy..... for me he looks like he could do with bulking down a little bit! Personally from what I've seen he has a fantastic touch on him he just, I don't know, he just doesn't seem to quite slot in.... I still feel him and Storey if given a bit of time together could be a very good partnership as Storey really lacks someone up alongside him.
  10. Completely disagree with terminating his contract.... he should be fined a couple weeks wages and accept whatever punishment the SFA impose. We shouldn't be the type of club that uses it as an excuse to free up wages, that's really poor and I'd like to think we are better than that, the guy has a young family to look after. Who knows.... this might give him the kick up the a*se he needs to start performing. I personally don't think he's a bad player, just lazy. if he doesn't perform he doesn't get a renewal at the end of the season, simples.
  11. Glory hunters! Pure and simple... We're no more immune to that than any other club in the country! Loads of new posters on this forum in the build-up - never to be heard of again. Literally thousands of 'fans' who attended that day who had never been to the TCS before. Literally thousands of fans who attended that day who have never been back to (or indeed, ever been to) the TCS since. We don't have 15,000 fans - we've 4,000. And if that doesn't increase after last season, then it simply never will. Inverness potentially has a much bigger fanbase in my opinion, but it will take time. Too many folks in Inverness and area are Rangers/Celtic/Aberdeen fans, the club needs to get ICT into the mindset of kids in the schools now more than ever while we have had some success, forget bigger attendances for the next few seasons and look at the bigger picture and look to get these kids growing up as Caley fans, then who knows, maybe you then have a club with an average attendance of 6-7000 in 10-15 years time. It may never happen but that's where I see potential in the club, more so probably than any other club in the country.
  12. Exactly this! JH is man with ambition, he clearly doesn't see last season as a one off like many of us, call him a dreamer, but to me he wants to build something special up here, and that has to be matched in the boardroom as well, yes funds will be an issue, but I feel if the board can at least match John's vision and tell him they will support him however they can I truly believe he can be managing over something pretty epic over the next decade, not just dwindle out his contract over the next 6 months.
  13. Plus..... I really admire Hughes honesty, if he wanted out he would say it loud and clear, he doesn't shy away from things, which is why I think some are reading too much into it.
  14. I think people are reading far too much into this article... Budgets - Clearly KC not giving him an answer on whether he is going to have anything from the Christie sale to spend, he's clearly looking for clarity, which KC won't be able to give until he really looks at what can be made available. "It's just before you sign that contract just getting to know exactly what tools you're working with next year. I don't want to sign a contract and something gets taken away" To me he is ready to sign, he just wants to know what he is working with. Players - As with any manager you admire and you are getting playing time under, you want to see them stay, and if they don't of course that is going to impact your future and decision on whether to stay. Family - To me this is a statement to say to KC, offer me long term and I'll maybe move my family up here. look at the positive side of that rather than thinking he wants away and is using that as an excuse. Sticky Patch - Of course he feels he has no control, look at the injuries, he says it himself. Confidence is a huge factor and as he says if they get on a wee run it all comes back, it is kind of out of his hands and up the players to really start believing in themselves, Hughes can try motivate, but ultimately its down to the players to perform and get that belief back.
  15. A bit harsh that. Wedderburn is a crisp passer when I've seen him. He tends to keep it simple and has a pretty decent PSP, something that couldn't be said of many of our lads for the first 75 minutes last night. He's also only 24 and inexperienced so playing him is an investment in the future, as we've seen with Polworth who's coming on leaps and bounds with a run of first team games. I'll agree Polworth coming on leaps and bounds..... yeah I'm maybe being a tad harsh on Wedderburn, I just get chills whenever he has the ball thinking "oh no" maybe me just being paranoid!
  16. Haha! Sorry, Person! I just don't want to see us become the type of club that jumps on the "Manager Out" bandwagon when things don't go our way. Personally I feel Hughes has us playing (trying to at present) a brand of football that I don't mind paying to watch, and for that he must be applauded, even with the poor results you can see he is trying to stick to the philosophy of playing good football, but with injuries, players out of position it makes this difficult and mistakes are going to happen and unfortunately we are going through a wee rough patch, but I have faith we will get through it and return to winning ways. We really missed Draper last night, he would have marshalled Irvine out the game. The only thing I would have changed however would have been Williams on from the start, he's a real dynamic player and gave us a real injection when he came on. I agree with this as calls for Yogi to be sacked or resign is a bit premature however if form continues into next month then serious questions needs to be answered. I really liked last season's style of play because it was slick, fast paced and exciting compared to last night it was rigid, slow, and unimaginative. I understand that we lost a good calibre of players but the players we have still at the club are very capable of reaching the same heights as last season. The thing that annoyed me last night was that we just sat and took Ross County's pressure and nothing was coming from the management to rectify that. The game sparked into life when Danny Williams and Ali Sutherland came on in the last 15 minutes, why didn't they start the game? I thought that missing Ross Draper was sticking out like a sore thumb but we had Nat Wedderburn on the bench with the same physical attributes as Draper, why wasn't he used? It's just a very frustrating time at the moment and hopefully the changes happen in time for Saturday. Completely agree questions need to be asked if it continues.... the only thing that concerns me about Hughes at present would be that he has lost the dressing room, there wasn't really too much fight and desire shown by the lads last night and that would be one area of concern, but again that can stem from a lack of confidence and belief in yourself rather than from Hughes. I've not seen a great deal of Wedderburn.... but when I have he's been an absolute bombscare on the ball, he would give that physical presence yes, but completely goes against the grain in terms of how Hughes wants the team to play, he would have been perfect in a Butcher side so I'm not slanting the guys for being a poor player, just I don't see how he fits in this squad as a get the ball down and play squad. I'm gonna get pelters for this..... but I think Lopez, given time and a bit of confidence, could be a player for us up top, we need someone that can hold the play up to allow others to get in and support and he has the physical presence to do that.... and in my opinion he has one of the best first touches in the team. I think him and Storey could be lethal together with Storey running in the holes and Lopez directing traffic per say. I thought Wedderburn held his own against Astra especially coming up from Cowdenbeath. I agree the following game against Motherwell he wasn't great but for a short term answer, he's a better option than playing Vigurs deep. Yeah, Vigurs is wasted playing deep. I'm not so sure, I remember the Astra game and when he had the ball I just wasn't sure of him at all, great for breaking the play up and worked pretty hard, but not the quite on his toes when the ball came to him.

  19. The game was poor last night, and we looked devoid of any real ideas in the final third. People calling for Hughes out need to calm down, this is the man that guided the club to unprecedented success last season, and is dealing with a huge injury crisis right now. We have to remember we aren't world beaters, we first and foremost have to stay in the league, anything more than that is always a welcome bonus. This squad under Hughes however, I feel is still capable of reaching the top 6 if they can get some confidence back..... and for me that's where the problem lies, you can see the players aren't confident after a run of poor results. I know myself obviously at a lower level what it's like when your team get in to a rut of form, it's very hard to get out of, but a couple good wins and it comes flowing back. We have to be patient, it will come and Hughes will be motivating the boys to that effect.
