Lets see what happens this wknd and if there is a repeat, although I doubt many Morton fans will take the long trip up. Last think we want is it all kicking off and main standers having to get out the knitting needles and socks stuffed with Werthers to wade in and defend themseleves!!!!

As amusing as that scenario might be, there will be no repeat as the few fans who come up will have the south stand all to themselves, where the steward/fan ratio will be 1:1.

Interesting that Away fans are paying less than ICT fans for the same stand!

They are paying north/south stand prices, but as the cheapest option stand wasn't opened then they get access to the main stand for the same price.

    To be expected.

  3. Is it getting cold on here or are there too many snowflakes all of a sudden??

Why construe some balancing comment as picking on a player ? Sure Mccart is good but he's still young and there is plenty room for improvement. As for Coll ,he has been outstanding in his time with us but hasn't had the best of starts this year - even the blind can see that...if anything Chris has had to be more alert as a consequence.

It's only four games in and there seems to be the usual wave of euphoria after our first good game/result...stand back and wait for the bigger picture to appear, like after the first round of games.

Who's Polly? Seems like there's an open wound there that just ain't healing.

SteveA - care to explain why my posts were 'the most' ridiculous, or can you not put reasonable meaning to your point?

Have you seen him play recently? He’s become our best defender.

Aye, Coll is making him our best defender with his performances.

Like I said I think if he can focus on his defending, particularly in the air where he doesn't dominate like he should for his size. I don't think he's the type of centre back that forwards fear playing against...yet.

  5. First half wasn't much to write about, little quality for the first 10 / 15 minutes, lots of poor passing meant the possession kept changing through mistakes.

Started to look more dominant as the half wore on, but until Keating strike we didn't look clinical.

Second half was better, although once we got the second it looked like Morton's defence could be beaten easily - and so it was. Plenty good performances but remember after winning 5 nil our goal difference is only +3 , so there is a bit to do yet...only 4 games in after all.

Lots of mentions of Mccart improving and being a good passer - glad he's passing is better now because it was awful in his loan spell. Id rather he concentrated on his defending to be honest, still think hes a bit powder puff in some challenges, particularly in the air.

5 nil next week...not a chance. They will be tighter at the back and might make Ridgers work harder...maybe ?

  6. It's clear not just to me but to a lot of folk how much we're missing Welsh, what pains me is that we should not and cannot rely on one player to remedy all our defensive frailties. We have seen already this season how supposedly 'lesser' teams can be effective against us by sticking to a system of play that seems to be really well drilled into them, everyone knows their job and where his team mates should be. Very rarely do I get the impression from us that we are operating as a team, in control if the ball and playing to plan.

I believe we have a decent mix of players, quite a good bunch overall - I just don't think they are being coached into a team yet, perhaps they don't have faith in the system they are being sent out to play,  I don't know, they seem to play individually  - especially at the back.

I think there needs to be an improvement on the training ground as well as some tactical/personnel adjustments asap.

    Were we really that bad?

There were opportunities for the front players, and midfield seemed to be linking play....but defensively we have problems, not looked assured in any of the competitive games I've seen, don't look like they've played together before and Donaldson looks every inch the player who left Dundee with his tail between his legs.

    Wtf has happened to them?

  8. Many of the team won't be eligible for u18s this year,  so unless they played for the first team we couldn't have kept them on without going on loan anyway.

The four mentioned above are already fringe members of the first team and are expected to make much more appearances this year.

The plan being that some of the Fort William loanees get into the first team next year.

Until we have finances to support reserve level football this is our best bet.

  9. I'd expect some wins if not some better performances,  when they are added to the experienced core at Fort William they will make a difference...remember the youngsters are full time so after any adjustment period they will start to hold their own in many of the games.

Although not all will start I'd expect the ones furthest forward in development will raise a few eyebrows when they start touring the league's grounds.

Something very comical about JR when he is that pissed off, i'd hate to be a player getting the hairdryer off him...I'd end up getting fined a months wages for laughing.

Good interview tho, valid points made.

  11. This was more like the Cove which smashed the Highland league every week last year, and strolled the playoffs too.

They have only added one player as far as I am aware, and the fast interplay on show last night tells you they are a settled team who knows the way to play through teams.

Dissapointing to lose the goals in the manner we did - beaten in the wide areas is one thing & not stopping the cross, but to give megginson the freedom of our box is unforgivable.

Defensive midfield needs to be smarter...bigger problems at full back on both sides.

    Megginson sent off???

Yes , he is a bit of a tit. Booked for kicking the ball away 1st half. Second yellow for a tackle.

Cheap red card, might have cost them the game.

This looks like being Roddy McGregors season btw...pace and movement giving a decent Cove backline kittens.

  13. I think for most of the match we were going up and down the gears quite well,  looking dangerous without converting in the first half - although we let Raith into the game just before half time. Raith started well in the 2nd, while we still had our feet up! They worked a good goal which kick started us into life, and the response was instant. Domination for the rest of the match, plenty  good interplay in the attacking areas with a few missed passes to be expected from the new faces. A fine late goal from Todorov making the score more respectable.

Positive signs all round, not sure what happened at Peterhead.

    Roll on Cove.
