  1. grantown has been horendous especially the main street, but a local jcb driver has been going around clearing the streets and garages off his own back.aviemore the gritters have been gritting select roads, owned by people who complain they need out to run there buisnesses, dont we all pay council tax?so entitled to same services?

  2. in aviemore a few residential roads are getting done, but its fairly random, its not as if theres any shops or public services on these roads, which is unfair,we all pay our council tax so all deserve the same service,ok i could understand if they couldnt afford to do any residential streets thats fine but to pick "random" ones is out of order

  3. does anyone know of any Highland league standard goalkeepers who are without a club and looking for a game?strathspeys much improved goalkeeper under nicky walkers coaching,is leaving in jan to work in france, and were stuck for a g/k.anyone available please e-mail

  4. looking at the strathspey site and highlandleague.net the game finished 2-1 to rothes...where are the 4 goals coming from?

nope we scored 4 in rothes goals,3 were disallowed,1 was offside, but no-one knows whats wrong with the other 2

nb was just asking, match report mentions nothing about the 3 disallowed goals

its mentioned in post match interviews-:

We got the equaliser with a bit of a scrambled goal but we had three goals chalked off. The first one was offside but the second two I am baffled with. That would have put us in front but because it was still level, we changed the system and went to three at the back late on and put on another forward in Tolga (Daktas) to give us three strikers on the pitch but we got caught by a sucker punch at the other end when they broke away and scored the winner.

  5. look at the results we have been getting this season

Yep. I have been. For instance I see that you're defeat to Rothes yesterday gives them there first win, takes them off the bottom and puts you there instead.

not to down hearted, after all we did scored 4 goals in the 2nd half yesterday,so we are creating chances

  6. and as I understand it you have not yet reached the stage even of paying players (which Clach continue to do - albeit modestly). You have been on the wrong end of a few real roastings and you just don't know how things are going to go although I do hope they go well.

It might be a more prudent strategy as a Highland League "new boy" (and apparently, from the tone of your posts, a "lifelong" Strathspey fan who has never had an interest in any other club?)

For insance you will find that the rest of the Highland League are totally behind Clach and their efforts to survive.

One final point... has it not occurred to you that Clach, especially since they are a fellow North FA club, MIGHT just have been one of the clubs you depended on to vote you into your recently acquired place in the Highland League? In that event, your gratitude does not appear all that evident.

    a few points

1stly we do pay some players/and for players,so get your facts right 1st,dont know how things are going to go? we have spent over ?70k this season getting the ground upto standard, and next season we will have money to sign/buy players and further develop the ground(a enclosure, turnstiles,do up scout hut)

2ndly i have never said iam a lifelong strathspey fan, please quote it,if i have(which i know i havent)all iam donig is gladly helping out my local club in anyway i can to acheive there goals

3rdly no-one knows who clach voted for,for all i know they could have voted against us,as maybe scared we took some of there players, which has happened already.i didnt say i had no gratitude,i quite like clach as a club and want them to survive,no club going to the wall is good, and was made to feel most welcome there in our visit there this season, they went out there way to help me and my son, with a few things, but to describe there ground as "old world charm" is very laughable at least

  7. Marty, why has it taken you so long to decide to support Strathspey Thistle?

was asked by donly/robbie this season if i could do anything to help them,so duly obliged as its helping the local community, and also very easy to take my disabled son to the games as we can get his wheelchair in the stand, which was impossible to do at ict.i started of just doing the website for them, now i also sell there lottery tickets every week(usually about 60-80 a week)sell merchandise at home games, and via website, iam also on youth development committe and am treasurer;the same question could be asked to a good few ict fans who previously supported the old firm or any other spl team.

even though they usually get beaten most weeks i feel part of something big happening and am made most welcome by everyone invovled with the club, more that can be said a about ict.

  8. rather like Strathspey's at the moment, didn't work out all that well, the crowd dropped off quite steadily. It did, however, recover quite dramatically when results turned up again on the arrival of Pele.

look at the results we have been getting this season and crowds still get bigger

  9. [strathyjag the norm seems to be that between 5 and 10% of a population will attend their local football ground. With a population of 2240 I cant se the folks of Grantown swelling the ground by much more than it is at present.

but its not just grantown, but aviemore, and area,s around it also,we have kids from as far as laggan, tomatin and tomintoul come to play for the youth teams,so if there intrest there from them there will be from others in those areas

  10. Far more football fans throughout the country are being lost than will ever be replaced by those who follow new and "upcoming" teams.

Discuss.....I'll add more on my line of thought later as I don't have time just now.

VERY TRUE BUT THERE IS EXCEPTIONS not many but the one i highlighted above is a good example

  11. why are Chairmen always reasonably affluent businessmen if they are not going to invest in the club?

unfortunately football is in decline due mainly to television giving too much choice to consumers.

some football maybe on the decline, but some is also on the up,strathspey have been getting over 200+at every home game, and thats with a losing side,i bet if/when they start winning the crowds will increase more

If you wish to be taken seriously, get serious.

not really bothered abou either to be truthful!

  13. What arrogance is that? The council have given them the runaround for years, not making a decision on the ground rent. Why do you single out Dowling?

so you trying to tell me dowling knew nothing about the clubs rent going un payed for 3 years? i bet he was the 1st to know and didnt let on in the hope the council would write it of and forget it

  14. itmakes me laugh how the highland council are being made out to be the bad ones here, they have been owed the debt for yonks(years in fact0 why shouldnt thye call it in,enoughs enough, iam sure with dowlings buisness intrests he could afford to pay most of it off if he was that bothered, there getting whats coming to them

The rent is owed to the common good fund which is administered by the council. Is it in the interests of the people of Inverness to evict a football club and build more tinky tower blocks?

true but why should dowlings arrogance get away with being blind to the debt yet again
