Falkirk v Inverness CT Preview

Teaser Paragraph:
Injuries continue hamper our team selection at the back, but hopefully Duff can continue to impress and Brewster has delivered a boot up the rear end to the rest of them to knock them back into shape.  Matches against Falkirk always seem to produce a lot of goals and with Falkiek suffering more from injuries than Inverness Caley Thistle then if we keep the ball on the ground and use the strenght we have in midfield than there's every chance we can dominate this game and take home all 3 points.

PAST MEETINGS
The teams have played a total of 33 times (32 League, 1 Cup) with 10 goals (48 Inverness CT, 53 Falkirk) between them.
Inverness CT: 9 wins (9 League, 0 Cup) Draws: 7 (7 League, 0 Cup) Hibernian: 17 wins (16 League, 1 Cup)
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Jamie Duff (Inverness CT): The 19 year old Full Back has been called in to action in our last 2 SPL fixtures following injuries to a couple of players.  However, I don't think we would have had to wait much longer to have seen him in action anyway as he had impressed Brester during our pre-season preperations.  A slight mis-timing of a clearance lead to us losing a goal against Hamilton, but the lad showed great composure and seems to have shrugged it off as if he was a seasoned pro by coming back in to the side a week later and putting on a perfromance that earned him a deserved MotM.  Might still be in need of a little polishing, but he's amking the best of the chance that's been presented to him right now.
Michael Higdon (Falkirk): The physical 6"1' forward who turns 25 on Tuesday seems to have little trouble finding the net having scored 3 times for Falkirk in 4 games this season and our back line which still has a lot of improving to do could find him a handful if they're not careful.
A GAME TO REMEMBER
I'm only going to take you back as far as the 29th September last year for this one.  It was probably THE best game of football we played at home last season and the 4-2 win that topped of a week where we witnessed 3 home victories in the space of a week.

FACT'S BETWEEN TEAMS
The average goals per game in all matches between the two teams comes out at over 3, meaning that if nothing else these matches are usually entertaining. ICT have played Falkirk more times than they have anyone else currently in the SPL.  Partly down to the fact that they spent 5 seasons together in Division 1 and are going in to their 3rd season together in the SPL. LATEST TEAM NEWS
Falkirk (from): Olejnik, Flinders, McNamara, Bullen, Barr, Aafjes, Scobbie, Cregg, McBride, O'Brien, Arfield, J Stewart, Higdon, Latapy, M Stewart, Barrett, Lovell, McCaffrey.
Finnigan, McCann, Riera, Holden and Alison all out with injury
Inverness (from): Fraser, Tokely, McGuire, Duff, Hastings, Imrie, Black, Cowie, McBain, Rooney, Barrowman, Esson, Djebi-Zadi, Gillespie, McAlister, Wood, Wilson, Vigurs.
Munro, Proctor and Duncan all expected to miss out through injury
MY REALISTIC PREDICTION
The Caley Jags seem to be continuing where they left off from last season with decent performances away and struggling at home.  With that in mind and looking at the extensive injury list of Falkirk, and the fact they are yet to record a victory this season then I'm going to predict a 1-2 victory for ICT.  It would have been 0-2, but I really think we'll struggle to keep Higdon at bay for the full 90 minutes.

Arbroath 2-2 - Inverness CT - League Cup (2-4 pens)

Fiery clash goes all the way

Inverness Caley Thistle took to the road this evening to travel to Arbroath in their 2nd Round CIS Cup Tie.  Goals by Vigurs, Tosh, Wood and a penalty by Sellars saw the game go in to extra time which resulted in no goals but a lot of bookings when mayhem seemed to breakout on the pitch.  On to penalties and after a Tosh miss and Esson saving the shot from Sellars the Caley Jags walked away victorious.
Many may well be asking a few questions of the manager who made a number of changes to the starting line up for this match and was perhaps a little guilty of underestimating the opposition.

Inverness CT squeezed past Second Division Arbroath in a thrilling second round Co-op Insurance Cup tie.
Iain Vigurs gave Caley Thistle the lead on 18 minutes but Paul Tosh's deflected drive restored parity before the break.
Garry Wood put Inverness back in front on 64 minutes but Barry Sellars' late penalty took the tie into extra time.
With no more goals after 120 minutes, Vigurs held his nerve to convert the winning penalty and oust Arbroath.
Arbroath started well and came close to the opener after 13 minutes.
Tosh met Steven Weir's cross with a diving header forcing Caley Thistle keeper Ryan Esson into a superb save.
The ball rebounded out to Terry Masson but the Red Lichties star could not connect at the back post and the chance was lost.
Vigurs went on a mazy solo run past several home defenders before burying the ball past Scott Morrison to give Inverness the lead after 18 minutes
Arbroath responded almost immediately with Tosh beating the offside trap to race onto a flick from Sellars and chip the ball over Esson with the aid of a deflection off Jamie Duff.
Barry Wilson had a hand in the second Inverness goal when his cross was poorly cleared by John Fraser, leaving Garry Wood with a tap-in.
There was a late moment of controversy as Arbroath were denied what they felt was a penalty as Sellars fell under the challenge of Lionel Djebi-Zadi only for referee Alan Muir to wave away appeals.
However, Muir did award a spot-kick for the home side after 86 minutes with Djebi-Zadi this time fouling Sean Simpson.
Sellars converted from the spot to send the game into extra-time.
Andy Barrowman, a 79th minute substitute for Rory McAllister, hit the bar with a header with five minutes left of the added time.
And there was drama in the final moments with five players booked and one red-carded in a fiery incident.
Scott Gates and Phil McGuire clashed with both pushing each other to the deck.
All 22 players raced to the scene, with Gates, McGuire, Robbie Raeside, Ryan Esson and Barrowman yellow-carded, with the latter sent off for his second bookable offence.
Caley were then reduced to 10 men after Barrowman was red-carded for a second bookable offence.
Vigurs netted the decisive spot-kick in a thrilling encounter as Tosh and Paul Lunan both missed for the home side to see them crash out 4-2 on penalties.
Arbroath manager John McGlashan: "Every player in my dressing-room is disappointed right now, but that feeling will pass in five minutes when they realise what they have done." They have done the club proud tonight. They have taken an SPL side all the way to extra time and penalties and deserved to do so. "They can all feel good because it was a terrific achievement. They were fantastic and, sadly, they only missed out because of the lottery of penalty kicks."
Inverness Caledonian Thistle manager Craig Brewster: "I'm very relieved and the best thing I can say about tonight is that we are through. "Hearts went out on penalties in their game, but we went through and there's a world of difference in the feeling when it goes your way. "We played well at times but let them back into it and Arbroath deserved extra time. "At times, we gave the ball away too cheaply and we almost paid the ultimate price for it, but thankfully all four penalties in the shoot-out were superb and we're in the next round."

Inverness CT 1-1 Hibernian - Report

Caley Jags Held

Caley Thistle came in to this match looking to put last weeks poor performance behind them and it looked like they were set to do just that when McBain laid off the ball to Cowie who cut in from the right hand side to fire home the opener with his left foot.
Hibs had never scored in a competitive match at Tulloch Caledonian Stadium, but Nish put an end to that when he stole into the area only 45 minutes after the break to level the game at 1-1.
That's how the game finished, a share of the points in an open but sometimes scrappy game where neither team looked like they wanted to settle for the draw.

23rd August 2008 - 3.00pm  Tulloch Caledonian Stadium  INVERNESS CALEDONIAN THISTLE FC  1 - (Cowie, 21) TEAm: Fraser, Tokely, Duff, McGuire, Hastings, Imrie (Djebi-Zadi, 57), Cowie, Black, McBain (Vigurs, 65), Rooney, Barrowman (Wilson, 80)

Hibernian travelled north to face an Inverness side whom they had never beaten in the Highlands. Worse still, the side from the Capital hadn't even managed to put the ball in the net when playing the Caley Jags in Inverness. Former Inverness midfielder John Rankin was a familiar face in the Hibs side that started the game which seems to have settled down after a woeful pre season which saw relative newbie manager Mixu Paatelainen placed under a certain degree of pressure, particularly following their defeat to IF Elfsborg in the Intertoto Cup.
Craig Brewster shuffled the Inverness pack with the injured Duncan dropping out and Adam Rooney, fresh from an encouraging debut against Hamilton last week, coming in to partner Andy Barrowman up front in a two man attack. Youngster Jamie Duff, who was at fault for the Hamilton winner in last weeks 1 - 0 defeat to the Accies, retained his place in the centre of defence with Phil McGuire with the rest of the starting eleven looking to pick themselves up from a poor display last Saturday.
And Inverness gave the Home crowd something to shout about in the first few minutes of the game. Ian Black sent a free kick to the Hibs pack post which found Adam Rooney lurking and the battling forward sent a header back across goal for right back Tokely to bullet in a header that saw Andy McNeil pull off a spectacular flying save to deny Rossco the opening goal. The flame haired Rooney was next to threaten as he attempted a cheeky flick that almost caught out MacNeil but the Hibs keeper was equal to the effort.
Midfielder Rankin, was being booed by a small section of the Home support, burst into the box to chase a through ball from Fletcher but luckily he pulled his shot wide as Fraser rushed to close down his former team mate. ICT took the lead with a spectacular counter attacking goal. Deep inside his own half Imrie played the ball back to Hastings who sent a long ball up field that was worked to Ian Black who sprayed the ball wide to the right to Don Cowie who drove towards goal. As Cowie cut back inside onto his left foot he fired in a shot that took a wicked deflection off Chris Hogg, past the despairing McNeil and into the net.
Hibs upped themselves and Colin Nish, who has a prolific record against Inverness, wasted a glorious chance when played through. Nish inexplicably lobbed the ball over the bar with Fraser stranded and out of position. Hibs then looked to have a claim for a penalty waved away. Mike Fraser was unable to hold a long range shot and the ball fell to the impressive Dean Shiels who was unable to finish under pressure from Hastings. The Hibs attacker claimed he was held back by the Inverness left back but Eddie Smith waved away his shouts.
With Inverness managing to hold firm until half time and still creating openings of their own the Home fans sensed a continuation of their good record against the green half of Edinburgh. However Nish was to score yet another goal against ICT as early as the first minute of the 2nd half. A scramble around the Inverness box saw a Shiels shot cannon off McGuire and into the path of Nish. While the Inverness back line appealed for offside Nish didn't hang around and slotted the ball beyond Fraser to bring Hibs level.
Nish then set about getting a 2nd for his side but was foiled when his header thumped off the post. An Alan O'Brien cross found Nish lurking at the back post and he was easily able to out jump McGuire to the ball but Inverness were saved by the woodwork. McGuire was to threaten at the other end of the pitch as Inverness sought a 2nd goal for themselves. Roy McBain's long corner was headed back across the goal by Barrowman with the ball being met by McGuire who forced McNeil into a fingertip save to deny the former Aberdeen defender a goal.
Both managers threw on substitutions to try and find that killer 2nd goal. The under performing Imrie was replaced by Djebi Zadi who struggled to get into the game and was caught on the ball as Hibs pressed harder to get a winner. Ian Vigurs, who replaced Roy McBain, coped much better and the youngster, highly regarded by the ICT management, coolly strode past more experienced players in the Hibs team as he linked well with Black in the midfield. Veteran Barry Wilson, who recently celebrated his testimonial against a Liverpool XI, was also thrown on to inject some fresh legs in the wide areas but by now the game was becoming increasingly scrappy towards the end as both sides looked to find the elusive winning goal and it was Hibs who came closest when Dean Shiels found himself in space in the box but he sliced his effort wide. One further chance fell to Inverness when Ian Black seized upon a lose ball and sent in a 25 yard attempt which whizzed past MacNeil's right hand post and into the stand.
A 1-1 draw was a fair result but a section of ICT fans in the 4,022 crowd, lower than other games against Hibs, greeted the final whistle with boos. Perhaps our excellent record against Hibs had led to some sections of the Home fans expecting more than just a draw. In fairness though, one of the most open games in the last few months in Inverness saw plenty of goal mouth action and some fantastic passing football, some even from the home side who showed once more that they can play other teams off the park when the ball is on the ground. Hopefully we will see more of this in games to come.

Inverness CT v Hibernian Preview

Teaser Paragraph:
After a disappointing display against Hamilton last weekend the Caley Jags will hopefully have received a bit of a lift from the result on Monday against the Liverpool XI that travelled to Inverness for Barry Wilsons Testimonial.
A return to playing free flowing football where the ball is kept on the ground against Hibs would also be a welcome display for the fans who have become increasingly frustrated at the tactic of hoofing long balls up the pitch to a lone striker who is then expected to preform miracles. We all know the team are capable of doing just that, and perhaps it's time that the squad showed the same confidence in themselves.

Inverness CT: 6 wins (6 League, 0 Cup) Draws: 1 (1 League, 0 Cup) Hibernian: 6 wins (5 League, 1 Cup)
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Adam Rooney (Inverness CT): Adam joined Inverness from Stoke City on a 3 year deal just last Friday. The Irish forward made his debut as a substitute last week, and will be looking to have a bigger impact this weekend. Initially thought to be joining on a loan spell, but it turns out Brewster was buying him for roughly £50,000. Could turn out to be a decent signing!
John Rankin (Hibernian): The ex-Inverness CT midfielder has had a decent 2008 at his new club in Edinburgh. This will be his first game back at the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium since his move from Inverness to Hibs. Has so far scored 2 goals in 22 appearances.
A GAME TO REMEMBER
For this weeks game to remember we take you back to one of the biggest wins in this fixture. It took place at the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium in the SPL on the 02/03/2005. This was Inverness’ only second game in Inverness in the SPL after ground sharing with Aberdeen for the first half of the season. Inverness out played Hibs for the whole game and deserved their 3-0 victory. Goals came from Juanjo, Brewster and Wilson. The attendance was 4443.
The teams were as follows:
INVERNESS CT: Brown, Tokely, Munro, Dods, Golabek, Wilson, Hart, Duncan, McBain, Brewster, Juanjo. Subs - Proctor (for Hart), Bayne (for Brewster), Fetai (for Juanjo), Fraser, McCaffrey, Hastings, Prunty.
HIBERNIAN: Simon Brown, Whittaker, Caldwell, Smith, Murphy, Orman, Antonio Murray, Ian Murray, Scott Brown, O’Connor, Riordan. Subs - Shiels (for Orman), McDonald (for A. Murray), Sproule (for I. Murray), Brown, McCluskey, Morrow, Konte.
The referee was John Underhill and there were three bookings on the day all for Hibernian: Antonio Murray, Murphy and Ian Murray. Six of the Inverness players who started the match still play for the club (including Brewster who has returned as manager).
FACT'S BETWEEN TEAMS
All League meetings between the teams have taken place in the SPL. The Scottish cup tie last season was the first cup tie between the teams. In the last 6 games of this fixture, the home team has always won. In the last 7 fixtures between these teams, the away team has failed to score. That means no away goals in 630 mins in this fixture!! The last away goal was scored by Barry Wilson of ICT on the 25/03/2006. Barry Wilson is the top scorer in this fixture with 5 goals. In Craig Brewster’s first spell at the club, his opening game was away to Hibernian. Aside from Barry Wilson, no other current ICT player has scored more than 1 goal against Hibernian, with the rest leaving for pastures new. According to my sources, Brewster has managed 90 games for ICT over his 2 spells, winning 33, drawn 22 and losing 35. TOP SCORERS FOR THIS FIXTURE
5 goals: Barry Wilson (ICT)
4 goals: Steven Fletcher (Hibs)
3 goals: Derek Riordan (Hibs), Dean Shiels (Hibs)
2 goals: Juanjo (ICT), Marius Niculae (ICT), Craig Dargo (ICT)
1 goal: Brewster (ICT), Proctor (ICT), Wyness (ICT), Dods (ICT), Beuzilin (Hibs), Killen (Hibs), McBain (ICT), Colin Nish (Hibs)
TOP SCORERS SPL SO FAR
2 goals: Clarkson (Motherwell), Higdon (Falkirk), Nish (Hibs)

MY REALISTIC PREDICTION
With Inverness recording a disappointing loss at home to Hamilton last week and Hibernian winning 3-2 at home to Falkirk it will be tough. I am going for a 1-1 draw.

Wilson Testimonial v Liverpool XI - (5-0)

Barry's Testimonial

A squad of Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC Stars from past, present and future took to the field tonight in Barry Wilsons Testimonial Match against Liverpool FC. The fans had been looking forward to this one for weeks, and turned out in force to show their support for Bazza who has always been a firm favourite, despite disappearing for a short stint at Livingston FC between 2000 & 2003.
The heavens opened moments before kick-off and their was a short delay at Barry’s request in order to make sure everyone had made it through the turnstiles….the 7300+ crowd catching a few late stragglers by surprise no doubt. Then it was down to business, in an impressive performance that was to see Caley Thistle end the night as 5-0 winners.
Inverness Caledonian Thistle Squad
Fraser Proctor, Duff, Mann, Djebi-Zadi Wilson, Cowie McBain Sheerin Ritchie Bingham
Subs: Wood, Barrowman, Esson, McGuire, Wakaluka, Black, Gillespie, Imrie, Sutherland, Vigurs, McAllister, Rooney.

The match started off a little tentatively, perhaps both teams were just feeling each other out, or maybe it was Ex-ICT players Mann, Sheerin, Ritchie and Bingham taking a few minutes to blow off the cobwebs and get up to speed. Whatever the reason, the first attempt at goal was to be seen about 10 minutes in when Liverpool managed to get a ball in behind the back four. Fraser was quick to advance and narrow the target which resulted in Danny Pachelo shooting narrowly wide.
Paul Ritchie and David Bingham were to be replaced 10 minutes later, but nor before Ritchie managed to get a shot on goal. A few neat passes culminated in him finding himself unmarked in the box, but unfortunately his shot was easily gathered by visiting goalkeeper Dean Bouzanis. The two Heroes from the past were replaced by up and coming stars Rory McAllister and Gary Wood.
It wasn’t long before the young lads were linking up well and creating no end of trouble for the Liverpool defenders. Rory was unlucky to shoot wide within 5 minutes of being on the pitch and a crossed ball in to the box looked like it was going to allow ‘Man of the Moment’ Barry Wilson to open the scoring…but he was to be denied by a goal line clearance.
It might all sound like one way football up to now, but Liverpool were stringing some nice passes together and causing us a few problems in the midfield; however that’s about as far as they were getting. Our back four was a good mix of youth and experience and if Jamie Duff was looking to learn anything from anyone in this match then he had to look no further than “The Mann” next to him. Bobby has lost nothing since he left ICT…and that includes his waistline…but he still commands a defence better than anyone I’ve ever seen at TCS. His reading of a game is second to none, as are his ability to put a foot on the ball, keep his calm and pick out his pass to anywhere on the pitch.
Guest players Sheerin and Mann were to be replaced shortly after each other with Iain Vigurs and Phil McGuire.
It looked like it could turn out to be a very frustrating night for ICT. Liverpool had done little to threaten Michael Fraser and with Proctor heading wide from a Wilson corner and Wood missing an open goal with 5 minutes left in the half it looked likely we’d head in for the break at 0-0.
However, with 60 seconds left on the clock it was Roy McBain who was to open the scoring for Caley Thistle. Roy claims to be left footed, but I’m starting to have my doubts as he always seems to score from his right foot…and with pace. This time however, the ball merely sauntered over the line after taking a deflection of Liverpool’s Ronald Huth….but who cares…it was 1-0 to Inverness.
The fans had barely had a chance to take it in when we got our second, a very embarrassing own goal for Mikel San Jose. It looked like a pass back, but the goalkeeper could only watch in amazement as it flew past him and in to the bottom right corner of the net.
Half-Time and its Inverness CT 2 v 0 Liverpool XI
No time to nip to the pie stall tonight as the much awaited half-time entertainment took to the field. It was a Legends match between Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Ross County. This saw the return of Steve ‘Pele’ Paterson to Tulloch Caledonian Stadium as he managed the Caley Thistle Old Boys, whilst Ross Counties Seniors were managed by Barry’s Dad, Bobby Wilson.
Calder, Brewster, Christie, Urquhart, Mann, Bingham and Ritchie secured victory for the Caley Jags thanks to a spectacular volley from Bingham which was to be the only goal of the game, which seemed to be enjoyed just as much by the youngsters in the stands as it was by those who would have remembered the likes of Urquhart, Calder and Christie from their early Highland League days.
Three changes of personnel at half-time for Caley Thistle…Fraser, McBain and Cowie making way for Esson, Imrie and Black.
The game started a little livelier and it wasn’t long before we extended our lead to three. Some neat work down the left looked like it might end with McAllister being chased out of play, but a neat cut back saw Wood with an easy finish from the edge of the 6 yard box.
Liverpool recorded another shot on goal when Esson was forced in to action to tip a shot over the bar which resulted in a corner. Liverpool didn’t trouble much from the corner and ICT regained control of the match.
Our fourth goal was to come just on the hour. ICT had a corner, and despite calls from the crowd for him to swerve it straight in to the top corner he played it short to Black who laid it off for the cross which found McAllister who powered it home with the head.
It really was starting to look like four going on fourteen at this stage as Liverpool just couldn’t find a way in to the final third of the pitch to create any trouble for us. McAllister and Wood had been working really well together at the front, but they were to be replaced by new signings Alan Rooney and Andy Barrowman.
Barry Wilson was next to leave the field with about 10 minutes to go and he did so to rapturous applause from everyone in the stands...allowing trialist Dan Wagaluka from Uganda to take his place on the field. Either the Liverpool lads wanted his shirt, or they realised the threat his pace presented as they seemed to spend a long time holding on to his shirt. He looks like he could be a very useful player and with the introduction of Zander Sutherland (for Dougie Imrie) shortly afterwards on the opposite side of the pitch we were making real use of the width of our pitch and causing Liverpool even more problems. Dale Gillespie had also taken to the pitch to replace Ian Black.
Another new face at ICT this year, Lionel Djebi-Zadi, had been working tirelessly the entire match, and my report probably doesn’t do him justice, but he gets his mention here as his efforts paid dividends with only 7 minutes to go and his cross found Proctor who, after a bit of a defensive nightmare by Liverpool, stuck the ball away to secure the 5-0 victory for the home team.

Inverness CT 0-1 Hamilton - Report

Hero to Zero

Tulloch Caledonian Stadium played hosts for the top of the league clash between Caley Thistle and Hamilton Accies.  After witnessing Hamilton's confident win over Dundee Utd at the start of the week Craig Brewster would have been only too aware of the threat posed by the new boys, but it was a series of small errors culminating in a sclaffed ball by young defender Duff which set up Offiong for the opening goal on the stroke of Half Time.
Despite throwing an extra forward on at half time and sacrificing a defender to go three up front in the final 10 minutes ICT couldn't find an equaliser and the game finished with Hamilton 1-0 victors.

16th August 2008 - 3.00pm Tulloch Caledonian Stadium INVERNESS CALEDONIAN THISTLE FC  0 - Team: Fraser, Tokely, McGuire, Duff (McAllister, 81), Hastings, Imrie, Duncan (Rooney, 45), Cowie (Wilson,70) , Black, McBain, Barrowman Subs:  Esson, Djebi-Zadi, Gillespie, Wood

Yes, what a difference a week makes. Fighting hard for every ball, telling crosses into the box, great defending and cracking goals. Unfortunately that was last week at Pittodrie. Lets hope our season has not peaked since ending our run of losses against the Dons, for this was poor fare. Hamilton just about deserved to sneak this tight affair, and it took a fresh air swipe by the unfortunate debutant Jamie Duff to ensure that they went down the A9 with all three points.
A tentative opening by both sides resulted in a disappointing scrappy affair. Both teams seemed to settle for a 4-5-1 formation and effectively cancelled each other out. With Grant Munro missing this game through injury, Ross Tokely took the captains armband and Duff played in central defence.
After the highs of last week we are brought crashing back down to earth by a VERY poor display - Kencar
Chances were at a premium for both sides, McBain hit a volley which was easily saved by Tomas Cerny. Hamilton then took the initiative and had a couple of headers that they could have done better with, McGlaughlin and Offiong notably, but the latter was not to be denied right on the stroke of half time when a ball landing near the halfway line out on the touchline should have been cleared by Jamie Duff. Much to the disdain of the home support, the ball sat up and Duff missed it under challenge from Offiong, who then made a beeline for the goals and slotted the ball past Fraser with ease. A well taken goal which sent the 120 or so Hamilton fans into raptures. The same could not be said of the home fans who were stunned into silence and headed for their pies in disbelief. Good to see McGuire consoling a distraught Jamie Duff, but this one hurt and ultimately proved to be the difference between the teams.
We really lacked creativity today and worryingly there wasn't much options on the bench to try and change things! Wilson, when he came on, looked sharper and hungrier than anyone else on the park - RednBlackCameback
Brewster immediately changed the side, removing Duncan who may be carrying an injury and handing new signing Adam Rooney his first competitive game for ICT. He looks to be a promising player and showed some nice touches but there were no takers for any of his balls into the box. Inverness huffed and puffed, but could not blow the well organised Accies house down. Alex Neil was booked for crunching a strangely subdued Dougie Imrie and it would have been no surprise if he would have been the one to be replaced by Bazza, but the equally ineffective Cowie was the one to come off in 71 minutes.
In truth Inverness could not muster any real attempts on the Hamilton goals and Tokely headed weakly over. Barrowman had one chance he should have done better with, but he could not control the ball in the box and the opportunity was gone. Mike Fraser pulled off a good double save as Hamilton tried to rub further salt into the wounds, although the second attempt was already flagged for offside.
It seems like an eternity ago that we watched our heroes actually having a go, playing attractive attacking flowing football. Come back Pele, all is forgiven!! - Bronson
Right at the end, Rory who replaced Duff on 81 minutes, had a half chance when he sneaked in unnoticed behind the Accies defence but he maybe never expected the ball to reach him and he headed tamely wide from three yards at the back post. Cerny, and not before time, was booked for wasting time. He infuriated the home fans with his antics of strolling to the opposite side of the box to take every goal kick, however, we are clutching at straws if that was going to save us from defeat for we looked as though we would never score if the ref had added on twenty minutes.
Well done to Accies for continuing their good start to life in the SPL, and hopefully a wee wake up call to last weeks heroes.
Best for Inverness, difficult to see anyone rising above mediocrity, but Tokely certainly put the effort in and is my MotM.

Rooney signs 3 year deal

Teaser Paragraph:
Adam Rooney has become a CaleyJag not on loan but for three years in a move that has surprised a lot of people.
Rooney accompanied the first team squad on the pre-season tour of Denmark and manager Craig Brewster made no secret of the fact that he wanted to bring him in on loan, the player also seemed keen so it was a bit of a blow that things seemed to be dragging on as ICT and Stoke appeared to be at odds over the length of the loan and how much ICT would pay.
However, fair play to ICT and manager Craig Brewster, the delay seems to have been more to do with the fact that Caley Thistle have now signed the player outright for a reputed fee of around £50 000
According to the official ICT website, Craig Brewster had this to say "I am delighted to have finally secured Adam after a patient wait to get the deal done. He looked impressive for us during the Denmark pre-season trip and I am confident he will do well over the duration of his three year deal."
The player himself was equally enthusiastic "I am really pleased to be here after enjoying my time with the squad in Denmark. I am desperate to prove myself at SPL level and can't wait to get playing."
Rooney (20) signed for Stoke City in the summer of 2005, after having trials at Bolton, West Ham United, Nottingham Forest and Reading. In his first season at Stoke, Rooney made his debut at academy and reserves levels, before making his first team debut as a second-half substitute against Tamworth in the FA Cup. Rooney scored his first goal for Stoke against Reading on April 17, 2006 and in only his second full start for Stoke scored a hat-trick against already relegated Brighton in the final fixture of the 2005-06 season to become Stoke City's youngest ever hat-trick scorer.
Adam made 15 appearances for Stoke, scoring 4 times. During his two years there he was also loaned out to other teams for experience and played for Yeovil, Chesterfield and Bury. He has also played twice for the Ireland U21 team.
