Youth teams

Was recently talking to a relative of a youngster who had trained with the club youth scheme for approx 6 years and unfortunately was not kept on as he was apparently not likely to make the grade. Whilst I appreciate that the boy will have had expert coaching & invaluable experience when training with the team, my understanding of the club's ethos regarding it being a "family" club has been somewhat shattered. He had a short meeting with the club's trainers at the end of the training season to be given the news that he would not be kept on, but what I find really pretty shameful is that there was no follow-up letter from the club, ie. thanking him for his dedication in respect of attending training regularly every week, wishing him luck in the future etc. It's very easy to see why young boys give up football if they're not more actively encouraged, even though they don't manage to progress further through the youth ranks. No doubt I'll get pelters for posting this, but I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one to have this view?

At the risk of interfering with yer Internet romance madsooz - or can I call ya just mad - dont fret about saying what ya think or feel on here. Of course ya will get red dots but you will also get green dots to scrub them out - in fact ignore the feckin dots as they are usually given by individuals who are not relating to the content of yer post but becos they simply have a different perspective. And there are some bestards who are simply being sarcastic or "fishing" - ya can spot them a feckin mile away

I could be a role model

Thanks to all for your input - much appreciated. I do my best not to be mad all the time, whether we're talking about mad as in furious or mad as in one flew over the cuckoo's nest, but mad enough sometimes to voice my opinion. If I thought for one minute I could add something constructive to youth training then I would help out, but my work pattern sadly doesn't allow this. My knowledge of football probably wouldn't be good enough either, so I would possibly be more of a hindrance than a help  . Anyway, I've said my piece on this topic and am away now to try to think up something else to encourage all the other fruit loops to come out of the woodwork :rotflmao:
