Anyone else think that was a bit harsh on him? Fair enough they lost to the minks across the bridge on Saturday but they came so close last season and are only 6 points off top place. That's football these days I suppose. Hope he finds another club soon.

I have a friend who is a big arab and who knew Eddie Thompson fairly well. He told me of some of the conversations that they had about United, E.T certainly seemed to have been a very genuine fellow. I don't think you'll find many who have something bad to say about him. R.I.P

A touch pedantic maybe?! I've heard the same rumour a few times and haven't posted it here either. I think the mods have a hard enough time without me adding to their workload. I am inclined to be in agreement with EWS that the truth in these rumours have influenced Burley's decisions. However I'm not sticking up for GB as I feel he got a few things wrong and his refusal to admit as much doesn't really help. I'm not keen on the (almost) hysterical reaction to us drawing a game tho, lets not turn into england and start demanding the managers head 'cos we don't win every game. Anyway after being at the game on Saturday, the post-match debates and discussions, reading the newspapers and various websites since the game its safe to say I've had enough of this topic so will make my exit and leave the rest of you to it. Small point but we were far from comfortable in that game. I was there and the elation when Beattie scored the winner was born more out of sheer relief than anything else. We were poor in that game. (a bit pedantic - sorry!) I can't help but think that perhaps the reason that Boyd doesn't play so often for Rangers or Scotland may be connected to the rumours most of us will have heard regarding some of his recreational activities. Regarding the comments about Burley being arogant - I think he's got many faults but I don't regard him as arogant. Maybe I'm missing something?

Fletcher has been playing very well for United this season. He scored the clubs first 2 goals of the season earing them 4 points IIRC, on his current form I doubt Fergie will drop him. When they have more players back from injury and if there are a lot of fixtures close together maybe, but at the moment I fancy he'll keep his place. Apologies if my last post seemed a little rude, wasn't meant to be taken that way. (i am having a **** of a day!)

Eventually a large club (I'd hazzard a guess at Man City but it could be anyone) will go the way of the dodo but until then things will carry on getting worse. Personally I'm enjoying watching the greed in the english league slowly damage it like a cancer. Something will eventually have to give. Self proclaimed best league in the world? I'd rather watch ICT in any division in Scotland.

You really want to sit next to some bigoted OF fan at the TCS? I had that mis-fortune when we beat the huns (Rankin almost last minute winner - peach!) - not pleasant. And this wasn't some mis-guided, cheeky, young upstart this was a man in his late 40's early 50's spouting sectarian bulls hit. Wanted to fight me after the game - changed his mind when he realised he was more than a little out-numbered and his 2 mates told him he was being a total @r5e. I don't give a flying f**k how many fans they may take - there are home and away sections for a reason.

And who would you suggest George Burley and Sir Alex should put in his place as you clearly know so much better?
