  9. You think Bingham left playing in the SPL with ICT cos he relished the challenge of the third division?? Sure they haven't broke the bank with transfers but the wages and bonuses that Gretna pay far outweigh what other teams in the 2nd and 3rd can afford.
  10. I can see gretna buying thier way thru the 1st division as they have the 2nd and 3rd. If they aren't doing too well at Christmas they'll just spend more money in the January transfer window. :006:
  11. It will be a shame to see these two leave the Scottish game. Butcher when he first started I thought would last a few months with the dire financial predicament Motherwell were in but the big man fairly proved me wrong! Not only that but he has given us much praise over the years and conducted himself with dignity and earned respect from all in the game (including opposition fans). He has also nurtured some great young talent into the game and done very well at 'well, guiding them through a very difficult time. I'll be sorry to see him leave the Scottish game, all the best to him. Mowbray at Hibs too has done a great job building a young team that play with style and little fear and also comes across as a gentleman. Again I'll be sorry if he does go down south. I wish them both all the best and thank them for the positive contribution they've made to our game.
  12. Indeed best of luck to you - you're certainly due a bit of it!
  13. I'm sure CC will come out with 'main aim is to avoid relegation' to the press and he is 100% correct, but to the squad it will be show them all how good you are and get that top 6 place. I'm just happy to see us playing the likes of Hibs and Aberdeen instead of Brechin and Hamilton. Let's not get carried away - aim for safe first, then top 6, then..... well who knows but lets not make a noose for ourselves. At least we know the boys on the park and the management will give 100% - that's good enough for me. I BELIEVE!
  14. I thought I made quite a good cheerleader!

    Frank Spencer I think
  16. The tournament was a resounding success for us of that there is no doubt, and I think Smith done a marvelous job as did the players who got on the park however I still don't see how Turner and Smith form motherwell should be ahead of Mark Brown - I'm not saying Brown should have played 'cos I don't think he should have however he should (IMO) have been in the squad after the past few seasons and consistency that he has shown. As for Dargo I think if he keeps up his current form he will get another chance but Lee Miller??? :007:
  17. I never realised how much I really do HATE nah, DESPISE greetna till that game. If I hear the f***in word plucky one more time :008:

  20. I must be phychic after my 'United fans blinkered' Thread!!!
  21. You have sacked two managers who both managed to get so much more out of so called 'not good enough' players yet you seem to think that is the players fault and not brews?! :017:
  22. It's no wonder you lot are pish! :017:
  23. Does your cousin have 6 fingers?
  24. I agree with you RIG. They would not be there without the money, in fact I doubt very much if they would have done half as well as Peterhead without the money. Brook's seems like a lovely man and I do like his attitude and style, as has been said he's earnt the money so let him do what he wants with it, it is his. What I don't understand however is that there is no doubt that his money will not last forever, a long time maybe but not forever and when the money runs out Gretna does not have the fan base to sustain a team paying the wages they were paying in the 3rd, nevermind where they might end up. My point is if Brook's wanted to put his money into a football club why not do it somewhere where his influence and cash would make a lasting difference? If he invested a lot of his money at a club like Hibs or Aberdeen (these are just examples) he could put these clubs in a position that would be of long term benifit to the Scottish game. I would certainly appreciate that more than what he is doing at Gretna. Despite Vlad at Hearts being a complete phsyco dictator I have loved seeing someone challenge the old and infirm. Brook's money could be better used at a different team for the long term benifit of our game and he would be leaving a legacy that would (hopefully) last as well. Still as has been said it is his money all power to him, at least he is enjoying it.
