  1. Nitten by the Bing as we call it, with the Dean Tavern, a classic Gothenburg pub, and the streets built (1st street, 2nd Street, etc) by the Lothian Coal Company. Just a couple of miles away from here, and in a sliding doors moment they would have been in SFL2 instead of Bonnyrigg having dominated the East Juniors for years. Similar to Elgin losing out to Ross County. A couple from Myreton, a 1961 Zephyr Mkii, 6 cylinders and 2553cc., and a 1961 Humber Super Snipe, 2965cc, which was owned from new by Younger the brewer. According to the info card, the Humber didn't handle well but was good for 100mph...
  2. It’s not mine, it’s nicked off Facebook but I will post up some shots from Myreton. The village of Milton Bridge is only a couple of miles away here in Midlothian between Roslin and Penicuik. I had a few pals who went to camp there back in the day. Glencorse Barracks is in the village, it was the Royal Scots but I looked it up and it’s the Royal Highland Fusiliers now. Dolly the sheep was born/hatched/cloned/procreated about a mile away. Also Rosslyn Chapel which was quiet till some eejit wrote a bestseller of a book and they made a film of it
  3. And I stay above you in the playoff slot for another week due to the international break
  4. Thought I would put this up as it’s 60 years this week.My old man worked on the FRB construction even if it was just the toll booths, and I was at the opening with a girl in my primary class as we were allowed to choose two from each year. But my main thought was for @IBM when I saw the cars Also, I managed to visit Myreton today and I got a load of pics. I have to say @snorbens_caleyman that they had a Topolino but I wasn’t interested enough to snap it…
  5. Forgot to enter Was in Spain anyway.
  6. Aye it’s in common use here, maybe there’s a Canuck equivalent. Also see ‘clusterf ***’
  7. Missed this one as we were coming down the road from Lewis. Passed two D&E coaches just south of Aviemore about 8.20 and thought they must have left at ht to get that far Even from where I am in Midlothian, Annan is a real trek.
  8. We all know why that is
  9. Exactly. My old man was a motor mechanic to trade in his younger days although he wasn’t in the trade during my lifetime. But he always fixed his own motors and I naturally just graduated from fixing my bike onto fixing cars. I’ve done a clutch, petrol tank, valve grinding, new wings, brake discs etc etc. However with the car I have now I got ready to change the oil, located the drain plug underneath the plastic tray they all have nowadays, but couldn’t even see where the filter was . So that was the end of my car maintenance days…
  10. Looks great but I can’t see me getting permission on one of my weekends staying in Sneck. Of course we could end up in the same division as Elgin… We have the Myreton Motor Museum a half hour’s drive away in East Lothian, and the Museum of Flight nearby, which has Concorde on the site. Need to try and visit them this year as I haven’t been for yonks.
  11. That’s right. A year at WW from Aug 2021 in the EOSL Div 1 (tier 7) but far too good for that level - quite a few clubs were after him. Bo’ness would be happy to retain him, they’re in the LL these days.
  12. Back around the millennium I built 2 kayaks using ply and epoxy. It didn’t really have a smell but I don’t think it did my lungs any good.
  13. Got the email this morning. The ST, I feel, goes to great lengths to justify itself, trying too hard where a quick sentence would be fine. However the reply is just glib, patronising shite.
  14. It was Maurice Ross. Bollan was no better though - finished bottom in 2018 but survived the playoffs due to Cove’s indiscipline and some dodgy refereeing.
  15. Just by coincidence I was chauffeuring grandkids around this morning and I saw this Rover 3.5 V8 so I obviously thought of IBM (well actually I thought of my laddie first and my old man who had a Rover 2000). I stopped for a look but it looked more of a heap close up. It would need the doors replaced and a respray and it’s being offered at £2895.
  16. This just happened to pop up on my timeline today. 9 years ago. "When I die and they lay me to rest, gonna go on the piss in Bucharest"
  17. Agreed, it was a rhetorical question really.
  18. Johndo in typical attire at Fleetwood, 2010. "The Howden End will never die... the Howden End is in the sky".
  19. May as well give this a bump. Just back from Shetland as we had a Golden Wedding to attend, otherwise we wouldn't be going 2 years in a row. The Earl Thorfinn runs between Kirkwall and the Northern Isles. The Leirna does the short and pricey commuter run between Lerwick and Bressay. The twin sisters Dagalien and Daggri work between Toft (mainland) and Ulsta (Yell).
  20. That's some clearout - on a par with our own. Still got Tam O'Brien and Ryan Dow - decent players. Only McKenna and Delaney staying in the Championship and the others dropping down. Whatever happened to Scott Allan's career
