  1. Mantis, have you any inkling who the 7 'mystery' teams are that have reportedly indicated they're wanting to (or have indeed applied to) join the Lowland League? Curious as to whether any of them are from the Juniors?! (Wonders if there's any way of splitting the thread in two so we can get on with laughing at Cownty) P&B thread here covers it Gets interesting around page 10
  2. I think the cost will have to come down Alex. I think these pitches are about to reach saturation (!) level so not sure about renting out in future. Great for the local youth etc and future development of players' skills though. Looking at the Lowland League which I watch quite a lot, 3 of the 12 clubs have plastic pitches (Spartans, Gala, E.Kilbride) and in the EOS Leith Athletic only, I think. It won't happen in the near future at Whitehill, my local club, because they simply can't afford it, but they train locally twice a week at 2 different 3G facilities. Last season they had to go to an Edinburgh school during the winter, but the demand for pitches in Midlothian has now been largely met with new schools etc. If Whitehill ever got funding for a 3G pitch I doubt it would make them much money, due to being situated in a village of 2000 with a decent choice of pitches in nearby towns. For people who hanker for the old days when ICT toured the lower leagues, Stenhousemuir and Alloa are both synthetic surfaces nowadays. Have to say I prefer grass myself but.....
  3. I actually thought it was a better game than the 3-3 cup game last season, which I thought was very poor up till Vigurs made it 2-2 in 85 mins and everybody was raving about it because of the ending.
  4. There were two Adams interviews, one with a woman on BBC Sport right after the game and one with Jim Spence. The Spence one is the most cringeworthy if you're a Cownty fan. It's true Tremarco could have gone, if you compare it to Tansey's red against Utd. Watkins should never have been booked in the first minute, he clearly just collided with Broony. Also clear that Shinnie never kicked Kiss, he kicked the ball, and it wasn't high, Kiss put his head down. Unlike the equaliser when Arquin was in orbit and should have been penalised and the flukey goal from Kiss disallowed. If Tremarco hadn't deflected it, Brill would probably have stopped it, identical to the first one at the New Year when Scotty Boyd scored. Also looked a penno for me when Watkins had his ankles tapped.
  5. What did Charlie say? Basically that Adams was havering and ICT were the better team 'by a mile'.
  6. I don't think we should get carried away. Cownty are not a good side at the mo and we can beat them and their whingeing, ungracious wee nyaff of a manager any day of the week. In fact I think our promotion side of 2004 would beat them too, standards have dropped in the SPL in 10 years. The five games coming up are all against teams that have given us a lesson this season so I'm not sure yogi will be any more adventurous against them. So yogi has a 100% record against wee seethydrawers, who'd a thunk it
  7. It's not called that now, remember they sold out
  8. There's only one 10CC, you tell that whinging barsteward. I was willing that interviewer to say "well, Derek, the pictures show that Shinnie actually played the ball. Why don't you just shut your cakehole?" As for Kiss, what a waste of space. Trying to get Shinnie booked after a fairly innocuous foul in midfield.
  9. To be fair we should be down to ten men though Like I said, a mare!
  10. Ref's having a mare, never a booking for Shinnie or Watkins. Goal should never have stood, pen should have been given
  11. Finished below Cownty though - epic fail, as people used to say
  12. Bannerman hat on "Width of pitch is an example of a continuous variable (It needs to be measured). The pitches are the same width measured to 2 significant figures, i.e. the nearest metre in this case. No. of goals is an example of a discrete variable - it can be counted (unless you are talking about goals scored by ICT, which do not require to be counted)." Bannerman hat off
  13. He was a definite no to maybe when I seen him last saturday. That's fine, I'm washing my hair anyway. What are you doing for the other 23 hours, 59 minutes and 59 seconds of Friday? Hmmmm, busted, obviously somebody who knows me.

  15. I was gonnae bother Caley100 for a bed on fri night but no cheap train tickets from edinburgh so I'll pass. I bet caley100 is in 2 minds as well
  16. We paid a fee for Rankin. Reputed at the time to be somewhere between £40,000 and £60,000 That's right. We agreed with Uncle Roy that it was £20 for every fan at the next Cownty home match, hence the two different figures.
  17. Pele . . . . . The Rest
  18. The Mantis replied to GMD's topic in Caley Thistle
Hey! I was wearing mine at the final!
  19. I mind Mantis telling me he was there, and gave some of the players a lift to see a band in the evening. 1997 after winning div 3. Beat the U21 Select 4-0 at Ness FC. The following night beat the full Select 7-1 at Goathill which is the venue for all Lewis & Harris Cup Finals and other big games. The U-21s were delighted that the senior team conceded more goals than them. The band was The Saw Doctors and Wayne Addicoat got the 'most pished player' award.
  20. BBC is saying 2537 crowd. Everybody knows I never believe the BBC Reporting Scotland tonight previewed the game with a caption showing us as the home team, then followed it up with a comment about Stuart McCall taking his team up the road. Do you think our team saw it and are still waiting at the TCS for the opposition to turn up?
  21. I think you're lucky just to read his comments rather than hear his voice. He really has the most bunged up adenoidal drone you're ever likely to hear.
  22. 2 points from next 6 games to guarantee top six. In effect 1 point needed as we are 14 goals better off than Hibs.
