  1. Gonnae tell us exiles exactly what that is?
  2. One closer. Have you tried Alan Savage? Ketan Makwana?
  3. Except he forgot about the 7,000 unread emails
  4. You'd think that, wouldn't you? I said a while ago that I'd be very surprised if SG took the club to court. He will know that he is sorely annoying AS, so he must be very sure that the forensic audit won't uncover anything worse than embarrassing. Nothing criminal, anyway, which is the specific meaning usually associated with the word "forensic".
  5. Turns out that I meant the pirate Radio Scotland, which had the "Black Bear" as its signature tune. Though I do also remember Radio NSI. Don't remember actually receiving any pirate stations in Sneck. Caroline maybe. And Luxembourg, of course - not actually a pirate - if I turned the tranny (back then that was a radio, kids!) to the right angle.
  6. I think I've said that we crossed the bridge on the evening of the day it opened, on our way to visit relatives in Newtongrange. The traffic queues extended back across to the north side, and the fog was the thickest I have ever seen. Newtongrange was so different from Sneck - STV, pirate station Radio North Sea International, and the newsagent at the end of the road sold DC Superman comics! My uncle was a Mason, and showed us around Rosslyn Chapel long before Dan Brown ever heard of it.
  7. Please allow me to be the first to note the coincidence of the absence of Big Dunc and a 3-0 win Joking aside, did the team play any differently?
  8. Savage says that there was no paperwork to back this up - just a threat. Do sheriff officers act just on someone's say-so? I must try it..
  9. I accept that nothing more can be done about this as far as we are concerned. But I assume that the identity of the Queens player - not given in the article - is in fact well known, and that future opponents and officials will be looking out for him. And I also note that ever-reliable first sign of autumn - the ICT injury/illness crisis.
  10. Very strange - I don't recognise the Caley keeper. Nor the bloke to the right of the keeper as we look at it - nor the 2nd to right in the back row. Extreme right back row is John Brankin. All the others were in the earlier photo, and I'm pleased to say that this time I did recognise Jim Lynas!
  11. At first glance I thought that Jaguar was a Bentley! I have a photo or two of an early Fiat 500 Topolino, which I will put up when I get back home - I am in Croatia just now. My next door neighbour - a stylish lady in her early 70s - had a Fiat 500, but not for very long. She'd had a classic MX-5 for years. Bought a new one when the redesign came out a few years ago, but she couldn't get along with it. Next up was a Fiat 500, which lasted for even less time - I was able to use the old "Had you filled up the ashtrays?" line. She then went on to a Mini, which she is very happy with. Three brand-new cars in a few weeks! One of the problems with the Fiat was that her partner is over 6 feet tall (and ex-Scots Guards) - and he didn't fit in very well!
  12. https://www.inverness-courier.co.uk/news/remembering-the-flame-haired-terrier-from-inverness-who-gr-359790/ Good article and tribute.
  13. That would surely be the end of Big Dunc, then. We'd get Steven Gerrard instead
  14. I'd be very surprised if SG did that. Was it AS who first used the word "forensic"? That word has a specific meaning. SG and the rest of the Board will be keeping their heads down until AS gives the "all clear". Or maybe he won't, just to keep them in order
  15. "Mr Savage indicated he felt there was a strong case for David Cameron, Ross Morrison and Allan Munro to [contribute around £600,000], given their presence on the board during the troubles encountered amid Scot Gardiner’s controversial five-year term as Caley Thistle CEO." Presumably he doesn't think he'll get a plugged nickel out of Graham Rae - the man who appointed Gardiner - and his mates? Last time I looked, it seemed that Rae has the largest individual shareholding in his own name of any individual. (Savage's are under Orion Group.)
  16. Why Falkirk???
  17. Not coming out until next May, so plenty of time to add the chapter about being fired from Caley Thistle
  18. Not to mention his disregard of the Hippocratic Oath, which he should have taken and been guided by throughout his career.
  19. I see on the Courier website that George Stapleton has just died, aged 77, in the Hospice. Very sad. As well as my father knowing him for as long as I knew - he might have been 5th co BB? - my sister worked for him a while. He had offices above the shops between the Crown School and Union Road. My commiserations and sympathy to all his friends and family.
  20. It's not just Gardiner. It cannot be repeated often enough that, if they intend to stay on, them the Board has very serious questions to answer about how they let Gardiner run the club as his private fiefdom, and especially also how they were taken in by Makwana. These questions cannot be ignored. The ideal place to ask them would be at the overdue AGM - or at an EGM if one is required if there is a takeover. This would be a chance for the Board to explain themselves and clear the air, or say "mea culpa" and stand down. Until that happens, the stink of incompetence will remain.
  21. Dear Sir Alex - he had 30 league games last season. How long does "a chance" last? I know that you had about 3 or 4 years at Man U before you were successful, but we must be well into "Fergie time" - that's Dunc Fergie time - by now.
  22. I agree. When Makwana rocked up, I said that the first thing that a venture capitalist does when they acquire something is work out their exit strategy, including what they can get out of the venture. And it has occurred to me that, ironically, the people who AS is lining up to possibly take over may have the same ideas as Makwana - development of the site, etc. One hopes that they will be much more credible.
  23. But I think he would have been quite Savage in the meeting. I imagine that his advice was something like "Waive the debt, convert it into equity, or forever be remembered as the people who let the club fold!".
  24. It looks like you can buy him off with a case of red wine! https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/duncan-alex-ferguson-man-utd-27903305 Great news!
