  1. Or if they do sack him, then morale might get even worse, and we could be relegated. I think they will just let his contract expire.
  2. If Samuels didn't say anything to counter the rumours, it's also possible that he indicated to the club that he didn't want them to say anything either. Yes, we usually hear about players' injuries, but medical details are sensitive personal information and should only be released with the person's explicit consent.
  3. No need to say "sorry". I wasn't disagreeing - just saying that it wasn't a straight comparison. I never saw much of Titchy, but did see a lot of the Jags a few years earlier, when they had Tony Fraser on the right, Bobby McLean on the left, Chipper Stephen and Johnny Cowie in the middle... and broke all sorts of scoring records.
  4. Chalk and cheese. Titchy was a winger. Davy Johnston was a compact, fast striker - now that I think about it, he had many similarities with Billy Mckay. His telepathic partnership with Chic Allan was out of this world. Mind you, Ian Stephen and Johnny Cowie were pretty good too
  5. IHE going to have to extend his scale into negative numbers
  6. *adopts Brian Blessed voice* "Samuels' ALIVE???"
  7. IHE, in best Spinal Tap tradition, your scale should go up to 11, based on the rumours which you keep alluding to. 11 - I'm going to buy the club and we will be champions of Europe in 2025.
  8. No, no! I can live with it - for me, it's only a trivial inconvenience.
  9. I get that most of the time - about 75-80% of the times that I visit the site. First thing I usually do is scroll down to see if there is anything new in Memory Lane, or in here. If there's nothing new, then straight back up to the top to see what the news is about the team - and that's when it usually freezes. The FF message "This page is slowing you down..." then comes up, and I can stop whatever it is trying to load. Up-to-date Firefox on up-to-date Win 10.
  10. Fantastic result! One for the historians - has anyone ever won the cup after being knocked out of it?
  11. There's no certainty with an injury like that. It was the morally correct thing to do, since he was injured giving his all for the club. Yes I know we have financial problems, but I support the decision.
  12. On no, have you made me feel so old! I first met him in the late 1960s. For many years he wrote on Highland League for the P&J and Evening Express. Was basically the "goto" man for anything to do with HL football, and probably other sports too. As Mantis said, for a while he ran a Highland football magazine - I was looking at some old photos recently, and was reminded that I had a sticker for it in the back window of one of my old cars. The mag probably didn't have a high circulation here in the SE of England! Have seen a few local history articles by him on the Courier website. He was also a local councillor in Inverness for many years.
  13. From a very quick look at the SPFL rules, it looks as though there is provision for emergency recall of recognised goalkeepers - provided that that was written into to the "temporary transfer" contract - but not for outfield players. Temporary transfer periods must be aligned with "registration periods" - basically must end in either the January transfer window or at the end of the season.
  14. Exactly what "assistance" did they ask for from the authorities? Either they said that because of the injury situation, they would not put out the strongest available team. In which case they could expect little sympathy. Or did they ask for a postponement - and for how long?
  15. Presumably the Diddy Cup has no rules about that? There have certainly been recent disputes about that in the Football League, which had - maybe still has - requirements for you to play as strong a team as you can.
  16. Promotion this season is gone, and I doubt if we could to afford to sack and pay off Dodds, and then hire someone new. I know that others disagree, but the number of injured first-pick players must also be having some effect, even if "only" psychological. Someone thought that Dodds' contract ends after this season. We will probably have to wait and see what happens then. On a positive note, I don't think we will be relegated!
  17. BBC stats say 10 shots, of which 1 was on target. How often have we commented on poor shooting?
  18. Just had it again, a couple of times. It's actually "This page is slowing down Firefox. To speed up Firefox, stop this page.". There isn't a "wait" option. Firefox had 15 or 16 processes running - though I had only one tab open - and, at that time, one of them was using about 30% of CPU utilisation. When I first start it up and it's on the default Firefox home page, it has 8 processes running. Right now it's 14, so coming here adds between 6 and 8.
  19. With me - Windows 10, Firefox, no extensions that I know of - when the site first is first loading I am now frequently getting the Firefox message that is something like "This page is slowing Firefox down. Stop or wait for it to load?". It must be having problems trying to load something - maybe external ads? If I stop it and then refresh the page it usually loads OK. I am also now seeing ads (actually copies of the same ad) between messages in a thread. This started a few days ago, so I guess you changed it.
  20. Well, we got that point - but Morton, Dundee, Queens and Partick all won
  21. Hey, we're winning! What's all the gloom about?
  22. Poster coming up for auction tomorrow (Thursday 10th), along with two other posters. This link takes you to the lot on the auction house's website - https://tinyurl.com/3vupnhdp I won't be bidding for it. Good luck if you do!
