  1. Don't want to shift now.

No need to bring the club into town - we won't have to wait too long before the town comes to TCS.

It's happening already - major developments all along Stadium Road.

Bucht, Bought, Bught - any other variations?

Can't see us ever moving to the Bught Park anyway - too many other people, groups and clubs are using it. It's an essential facility as it is.

  2. But there are always people who CHOOSE to be offended by such relatively inoffensive comments - usually (supposedly) on behalf of others. There's probably a name for it.

    It's a bit like the BLACKboard thing . . . . . . oooooh don't get me started! :rotflmao:

  3. I neither love nor hate Brewster.

All I see is a guy who failed as a manager, and perhaps realising he was unlikely to make a career in management, decided to pull on his shirt one last time and reach the finishing post doing what he does best. Professional football is a relatively short career and he's managed to squeeze more years out of it than most.

Best of luck to him, I say, and I hope he manages another season or maybe more as a top first division player before being forced to pack it in and start a new career.

I honestly think he did as well as he could for ICT - unfortunately not good enough.

Sadly there are those want blood - nothing less will do, and I pity them. :rotflmao:

  4. The PA system sounds pretty good now - there used to be problems with it. The clarity is excellent when set up properly.

Agree about the stadium announcer though - obviously NOT a football man (Motherwell v. Dundee!) and one of the most irritating voices I've heard in a long time.

There was somebody doing it a while ago with a good Inverness (or thereabouts) accent who came across very well. Don't think it was Titch though.

  5. Aye - he confused the hell out of the opposition yesterday by dispossessing them with great tackles and then passing the ball straight back to them! Reckon they were so bewildered by that tactic it took the sting out of their attack.

  6. Brought my 2 along and can only say it was a great success.

They were highly amused by a strange looking grey-bearded fellow, sitting along the row from us in Section G (North Stand), who kept standing up and singing, so we all joined in. (Give me an "I" - give me a break!! :rotflmao: )

Yeah, the singing was up an octave but who cares - great to see so many youngsters in the stands!

  7. Would you be happy if ICT were to merge with Ross County and change the name to Highland F.C. ?

Wouldn't have a problem with that - in fact I think the word "Inverness" in the name alienates us from a lot of folk in the Highland region.

A name like Highland F.C. would I think extend the appeal of the club to a much larger area and would surely benefit our attendances.

  8. Gosh I'd forgotten about the Football Times - I used to walk down to the paper shop with my Dad after tea on Saturday to buy it, then eagerly wait until he'd finished reading it.

I remember it was reborn at one stage and printed on pink paper, and marketed briefly as "The Pink", but I can't recall anyone ever calling it that. It even had "The Pink" printed on the front of it beside its proper name - all rather contrived if you ask me - a bit like Meadowbank Thistle being reborn as Livingston and coming out of the box complete with 'team nickname' of "Livi Lions" or whatever.

Which makes me wonder if there are any equally bitter Meadowbank Thistle supporters seething away every Saturday in their Meadowbank slums, miles away from the action in Almondvale.

  9. We always beat Killie, so no worries there.

Falkirk always beat us at home, so we need to work on that one.

    Dunno about St. Mirren though.

I just hope we don't end up back in the situation where we do well against the better teams and struggle against those around us. Early indications suggest this might be the case, in which case we're in for a torrid time in the last 5 games.

  10. As I recall, the interviewer suggested that prior to the penalty, ICT were slightly the better team and Yogi disagreed with that, saying that he thouight Falkirk had the edge up until that point.

I agree with him there - Falkirk did edge it up until the goal.

    After that we dominated.

  11. Very entertaining game today - real edge-of-the-seat stuff.

Lionel's sending off was a bit harsh though, although the penalty was fair.

Disapproved of Russell Duncan's efforts to get a fellow professional sent off. I think we can do without this sort of blatant cheating, although some might say it's all part of the game.

Hell, if we can have entertainment like that at TCS every other week the punters should come swarming back! I've witnessed a few home defeats this season, but if they'd all been as entertaining as today's, I wouldn't have minded.

I'd have put Foran ahead of Black for MoM though. In fact Lionel was looking good for it until he walked.

  12. I noticed Russel Duncan going down like a ton of bricks this afternoon and clutching his face to imply he'd been head-butted in an attempt to get a player sent off.

Didn't look right to me, and Sportscene has just confirmed my suspicions.

It's not so easy to support players who blatantly cheat like that, and I have to say I'm very disappointed.

Let's not have any more of this sort of behaviour from our team!

  13. When George W was president everyone called him an idiot and there was no problem.

It was well documented that Dubya was indeed an idiot - he had a certificate to prove it, whereas Gordon Brown was quite an intelligent man - that was the difference.

I do find this tendency for the masses to choose to be offended over trifling little things a bit tiresome nowadays.

Clarkson has made a career out of this sort of thing and many people find him amusing and unafraid to say what he thinks - none of this hand-wringing tree-hugging PC nonsense from him, and I respect that.

Unfortunately many of us Scots have a huge inferiority complex about our nation and heritage and a rather large chip on our shoulders, which is why this particular thread has come about.

Rise above it, for goodness sake!

  14. While recognising that desperate measures are needed in these desperate times, I do hope that when the current crisis is over, ICT will continue to nurture, and offer opportunities to our own home-grown players.

It has always given me great pride to see local lads making it into the first team and I would hate to see young aspiring trainees being forced to leave because all the first team berths are occupied by players whose true homes are very far away from Inverness, home being where the heart is.

Does anyone else feel that a partly local squad better represents the area, or are we all quite happy so long as the team is winning, regardless of the origins or nationality of those wearing the ICT colours.

(I emphasise that these are desperate times - currently I'd be quite happy to have the Brazil national team in ICT colours to get us a few places up the league table!)

  15. Mid rather than early 70s, though - another year later and we'd have been in punk, and dropped the lawyer-inspired Yes inflections. But fair call, "dire" covers it.

Gotta admit - I was fishing a bit with the comments. I actually quite liked JL. Can I take it you were a member of said band?

Incidentally, I am told that a member of the aforementioned No Reaction has been known to post on this site from across the pond!
