  1. :015: :015: :015: Got Jimmy Page on the brain today sorry! Theres yet more talk of him buying property near here... Robert Plant is who I meant, oops :001:
  2. Jimmy Page. Could easily make you cry :019: :001:
  3. Wouldn't expect you to go to Rockness Hamish. After all, they only have good music there :001:
  4. I'm glad the ignore function on this site doesn't work properly as I never thought I would see the day when Hamish said something sensible! I'll take you off ignore if you promise not to talk sh1te music to me Hamish! :015: And as for Charles - well I'll just have to keep looking forward to the day when he'll say anything sensible :001:
  5. I take it you've been a supporter of the union since you were a kid - ie last year? No wonder you got a warning, maybe you should just go play and let the adults discuss politics young man :018:
  6. :015: :015: :015:
  7. I agree with Mantis (and Clacher) :003:
  8. Yes, thats basically what I'm saying Charles. Because if you were dead set against independence there is no chance you would vote SNP, even tactically.
  9. The current word round town is our new sponsor will be Coca Cola :001:
  10. LOL Charles, you read exactly like a disgruntled old labour voter who just can't admit defeat! The SNP ran a fantastic campaign this election and if you'd paid attention to their policies rather than the tabloid "SNP ate my baby" hype (propogated mainly by the daily record) then you might see where the rest of us are coming from on this thread. I have all the SNP manifestos from 1997 onwards if you want to do some homework on their wide range of socialist policies! Thats ten years worth btw, hardly "indecent haste"! What exactly do you think the SNP were "hiding" the independence question behind if not a wide range of other policies? You're showing your ignorance by calling them a single issue party don't you think? You might think its being sceptical but really you would have to show at least some understanding of politics and political history to put yourself in that category! And I dont for one minute think that anyone who voted SNP would vote no in a referendum, unless they put their cross in the wrong box!!! The fact that the SNP, for the first time ever, got the biggest number of votes out of all the parties is a huge milestone in the history of our country and IS a conversion of sorts. DJS makes a good point about the rise of English Nationalism, the Union is dying, in fact it's been dead for years, and its time we made our own way in the world. A point not lost on the majority of posters on this thread!
  11. Charles, You cannot judge the popularity of a political ideal on whether or not people are prepared to take up arms in support or against it. Scots have always valued political debate, and the rise of the SNP from being a small one issue party to the biggest party in government with a wide range of policies in a few decades without having to resort to terrorism is testimony enough. Do you think you might have missed the "Damascene conversion"? :015: Thank feck you don't teach history or modern studies!
  12. Theres some utter p1sh being written on this thread!!! Basically I pity anyone who thinks Scotland is not capable of governing itself effectively, your lack of confidence in your own people is a complete disgrace. Theres a lot of hot air on respecting other peoples opinions but this thread is about a referendum for people to express their opinions, if you cant respect that you should just keep your half baked comments to yourself! :008: :018:
  13. Scotsman story I can't believe I just read this "A REFERENDUM on Scottish independence could be held as early as next year after a dramatic move by Conservative leaders to support the historic poll. The party's vice-chairman has publicly backed a referendum as soon as possible to "clear the air" over Scotland's constitutional future. Several Tory MSPs are backing the move, claiming the poll - which is likely to reject independence three to one - would "shoot the Nationalists' fox". Conservative supporters of the plan believe it is essential to kill off the independence issue to reassure businesses and potential investors that Scotland has a stable future, while also giving them a chance to set the "positive case" for the Union. The move, which has caused widespread astonishment at Holyrood, was last night welcomed by First Minister Alex Salmond. The Nationalists have promised a referendum on independence within the term of the Parliament but the mathematics of Holyrood make it impossible for them to push through the necessary law on their own. The backing of the entire Tory group, Greens and the one independent MSP would give them a majority." I DETEST the Tories with a passion and I accept they have ulterior motives for this move but I have to say well done to them for thinking out of the box and backing the SNP here. I bet Nicol Steven's choking on his Sunday dinner today! :003:
  14. past - Hissy :love07: present - Blackie dim and distant past - Billy Urquhart, the first football player I remember!
  15. I think him running out of puff towards the end of a game might have something to do with the fact he smokes loads of fags! Most folk Ive known to work in mental health units eventually end up with wee mental problems themselves, sometimes big mental problems themselves - its a chance you take, just like taking drugs. What about all the folk you would have encountered with problems associated to drink? Has that put you off drinking? Working in a care home, I was totally shocked with the amount of folk who came in for day care who were totally wrecked as a result of drink, on average they were about 20 years younger than the "real" elderly folk who attended, and thats a government sanctioned drug. No one is shocked when an athlete goes out and gets steaming though are they?
  16. Daft Punk's "Discovery" over and over and over again.... :003: :003: :003:
  17. So you have absolutely no personal experience of the issue and are basically just talking hot air? nice one. :017: Drugs haven't always been illegal, but the alcohol "barons" put pressure on the government to make them illegal to enhance their profits. Don't you think that if drugs were legalised then the black market for them would disappear along with the organised crime? People who take drugs are forced to give their money to the drug lords as there is nowhere else to get them, and this is negligence on the governments part. I have NEVER known anyone on drugs to commit a violent offence but Ive been around plenty of p1ssed up erseholes who seem to want to cause a fight at the slightest provocation. I also think that if the Daft Punk crowd at Rockness had been p1ssheads there would have been a riot! But no! All the folk waiting and waiting turned to the folk next to them for a chat and to make new friends. 70 000 people there and only 7 arrests, only one (as far as I know) for violence, and that was some p1sshead from Glasgow picking on a local boy. Ban alcohol!!!! Its obviously dangerous and leads to far more crimes and deaths than drugs ever will.
  18. Drugs are going to be used and abused in society whether they are legal or not and personally I think that someone who wants to take drugs should be able to take them!!! The government have a responsibility here to commission research into various types of drugs and their long term effects and to offer sensible guidance to those who want to take them. They should also be responsible for checking the quality and purity of drugs so people don't end up taking too much by mistake or taking something totally unexpected! And then maybe the black market in drug dealing will cease and the government can make a fortune from VAT on drug sales (through chemists or off licenses, whatever). Also to free up space in prisons for violent offenders and those folk who really should be locked up. Far more people die from alcohol related causes than from illegal drug taking!!! As a society we need to drag ourselves into the 21st century here and stop criminalising whole generations of folk who just want to have a good time without harming anyone else. And with that in mind, would there really have been such a stushie if a player had been caught steaming drunk out on the town at the start of their summer hols? I think not. :017:
