  14. according to gaudrian http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2009/ja...tcher-inverness Inverness offer manager's job to Butcher ? Former England captain expected to accept post ? Scotland commitments likely to be unaffected Terry Butcher will formally be offered the managerial position at Inverness Caledonian Thistle after his appointment was accepted at a meeting of the club's board tonight . Butcher, the former England captain, had immediately emerged as the leading candidate to replace Craig Brewster, who was sacked a week ago, but Inverness officials were unclear if he was willing to sacrifice other commitments to accept the role. Butcher operates as a part-time assistant to the Scotland manager George Burley and also does punditry work for Setanta Sports. Such problems have been ironed out after Butcher travelled to the Highlands today and met the Inverness chairman, George Fraser, and director of football Graeme Bennett. It is likely he will be allowed to continue in his Scotland coaching role. Archie Knox, a former assistant manager of Rangers and Manchester United, and John Robertson had also been interviewed for the post at the Scottish Premier League's bottom club. While Knox is currently out of football, it is believed he would have had to sacrifice the remainder of a ?400,000-a-year contract from Blackburn Rovers ? the club he left a month ago ? if moving to Inverness and was unwilling to do so. Robertson, who has already managed Inverness, is the board's fall-back plan in the unlikely event that Butcher declines their offer. Butcher's appointment, initially to the end of this season, could be confirmed as early as tomorrow afternoon; his first match would be against the SPL champions and current leaders, Celtic, on Sunday. Maurice Malpas, who assisted Butcher during his tenure at Motherwell, would also join the Inverness coaching staff. Inverness remain only a point adrift of 11th-placed Falkirk despite losing eight league matches in succession, a run which has placed their top-flight status in serious jeopardy.
  15. Not Glasgow Joe. Lanark. Some 28 miles south of Glasgow. Would you say someone from Forres was an Invernessian? Whatever, thats not the point! No where near Inverness either of them
  16. A wee bit cringy for a player from Glasgow who has only been here for a year kissing the badge!
  17. :thumb04: love it! Machine!!
  18. cowdenbeath win @ 1.57
  19. Came on to 'put the record straight' Bit strange that he has had years to do it but picks a time when it looks like the current manager was close to losing his job!! More like touting himself and trying to drum up some support in his favour for a possible replacement!
  20. :thumb04: Just because a potential manager might have been skilfull as a player doesn't mean that you are going to see skilfull fancy free flowing football!! You need skilful players first to be able to achieve that! And also that is not what is required at the moment
  21. is the rfc email address just a coincidence then!
  22. Any better? hmm that might be even worse seeing an england captain in a scotland tracksuit!
  23. that could work as a disadvantage though as the players might feel they were in his team before so they dont have to prove themselfs to him again whereas they may work extra hard to impress a manager they have not had before. Duncan was saying in one of the papers someone linked here that everyone would fear for their place and have to impress a new boss, would they have to impress a boss they had previous to the same extent who played them before and knows what their about? also going back didnt work last time when the boss knew most of the squad etc etc
  24. Seeing him in that top puts me off him
  25. What would be the point in having him as manager then if he only came up a few days a week, no way, he would have to be 100% dedicated or forget him. We dont want someone who is taking the job as a nice little side earner who is more focused on other interests and would no doubt be off is he either got a better offer or got bored with ICT. He also was a bit of a disaster at his last 2 clubs and wasnt popular at all.
