The Real SPL Website
Er, yes. More assiduously than you I suspect. Scotty is absolutely right that the original statement on the website was, shall we say, a tad hubristic! But since when has it been off limits for anyone to poke a stick at the OF? I think CaleyD is assuming those of us who support the general tone of this website are taking it 100% seriously as some kind of blueprint for the league. Not the case. If it succeeds in raising the profile of the other 10 clubs in however small a way then I support it. That's all. Probably time to draw a veil.....

The Real SPL Website
That's still excluding the OF. You call yourself "The Real SPL" yet your entire idea/site is based around pretending two teams just don't exist...is that meant to be some kind of irony and I'm somehow missing the punchline? The foundations upon which it is set will only serve to give the powers that be something else to use to undermine the word of the fans and anyone who tries to give it any kind of legitimacy will only serve to do more harm than good. By all means, have your fantasy league. On that basis I think it will draw interest in terms of curiosity or novel distraction, but it is certainly not an idea on which to base any kind of serious campaign. What Scottish football needs right now is for people to be putting their time and effort into campaigning for proper workable ideas and solutions to the problems being faced....a league without the OF is about as far removed from that as you can get right now. Oh dear this has struck a raw nerve for some reason. Don't think the people behind this website are under any illusions that it IS just a fantasy league. What's wrong with that? If it is a campaign it seems to me to be merely about trying to highlight the fact that the OF are not the be all and end all of Scottish football. Presumably you think it's ok that Rangers and Celtic have constantly agitated to leave the SPL for well over a decade now, and no doubt would have already gone if anybody had actually wanted them. Such actions have undermined the viability of the SPL far more than publicising a league table without them in it would do.

The Real SPL Website
The other 10 teams in the SPL, excluding the Edinburgh derby, get their biggest home crowds against the OF so they really do have a massive influence on the amount of people that watch and attend scottish football games. Without them every other SPL team would get less people through the door, hence less money - we do benefit from their inclusion in the SPL so don't really get what this site is all about? My point is that if teams have something tangible to play for then having the OF visit is not a prerequisite to attracting a large attendance. I think the SPL benefits from the OF because they attract TV money, but if they were to leave, teams such as Hearts, Dundee Utd, Motherwell etc would contest the title and many clubs attendances would increase overall IMO. Sadly not going to happen in the foreseeable!

The Real SPL Website
All for it! Anyhting that diverts attention away from the Old Firm is to be applauded. Incidentally over 11,000 at Dunfermline V Raith yesterday fans WILL turn out for competitive meaningful football whether the OF are involved or not.

Dubious Honour (sp)
Our record under Terry Butcher isn't too bad in that respect, although it doesn't come close to Pele's, what was it, three and a half seasons without a 0-0? We've only had one league 0-0 this season (against Motherwell), two last season (against County and Dunfermline) and one under Terry the season before (against Celtic, in his first game - which we can let him off with). Re the original post, though, I fully expect us to make an @rse of it against Hamilton - they're bound to win at least once before they take their leave, and given our record against them, we look like the most likely victims. Just for the record we also had a 0-0 at home to Ayr last season.

Fixtures after the split
Yes it's almost as if some fixtures and ko times have been arranged to ensure the sparsest possible attendance. The SPL could then turn round again and say only a ten team league can bring the fans back.

Inspirational Songs
Thought the Mark Knopfler tune worked well. Gets my vote.

ICT say "NO" to leagues of 10.
Good news. Not yet the wooden stake through the heart that this proposal deserves unfortunately. Why, after two cancelled votes, can the SPL not forget about it?

Kenny Gillet
Apologies if I'm raking over old ground here, but can anyone shed any light on what's wrong with him and why he hasn't been playing? Seems like an absolute age since we saw him in a Caley strip.

Neil Lennon celebrity look-alike
Has anyone else noticed the uncanny resemblance between Neil Lennon and Voldemort (he who shall not be named)?? Very scary for small chldren!

split: McBain Testimonial - booing
CaleyD - I think you'll find that I never mentioned anything about anyone being offended and I object to your comment about me throwing about claims without any proof. My ears work perfectly well and I heard comments made by those around me. Just because I pass remarks about a noticeable element of the night doesn't mean to say I'm a busybody and I can assure you I'm not a sensitive soul - in actual fact I've pretty well got a hide like a rhinoceros! It seems like I've irritated some of you "experts" by having an opinion of my own - I don't expect everyone to agree with me and I'm sure if you take a loooooong look at other posts for other topics, then the thread generally goes like that too. Perhaps having an opinion is just not tolerated by some - next thing I'll be getting a telling off for being a female????
-
EVENT: Inverness CT v Legends
Georgeios is very obviously the expert on who's having a bit of banter or not? As for telling the ones who were booing to button it, can you just imagine the response a female would get from them? Didn't realise I was "moaning" - making an observation just like many others do on this forum, which is the whole point of it, isn't it? Apologies for taking a WHOLE day to post my comments - didn't realise there was a time limit on these things? Not really too sure why my comments have peed some of you off so much - too near the mark I expect!
-
split: McBain Testimonial - booing
Ooooooooooooooo, pardon me for having an opinion. I think you'll have to read my comments again to see that I thought it was a great night too?? Surely there should have been NO negatives from last night? Certainly that's what I think, but maybe it's totally unacceptable for me to have such a foolish thought in my head?

split: McBain Testimonial - booing
Oh how my opinion seems to have tweeked some tails!!! Lol! Not sure what section I was in, but it was behind the home dugout & I'm merely commenting on the fact that I watched Brewster as he left the pitch and he did not look up to the stand when he came off the grass. I was standing up, clapping for both teams and had a completely clear view of him - I didn't sneeze, cough or briefly fall asleep and miss anything! And I certainly wasn't inferring that you were having a go about my sex - just making an observation regarding myself. Okay, I agree we went down to the first division courtesy of Brewster, but what an exciting season that was for us, and look where we are now???? Some people just seem to dwell on the negatives of seasons gone by - life's too short and what a fabulous team we've got now, eh??
-
split: McBain Testimonial - booing
Thank you Dougal for agreeing with me - I may only be a daft wifie, but I felt the booing was totally out of order. It's not as if it was a mega-serious SPL match when booing is part of the whole 90 mins - I boo with the best of them when it's called for!!!! Georgieos - I'm fully aware that Roy was touched by the crowd's appreciation and support of him, and only as it should have been. And I did see Brewster clap to the crowd but he didn't look at them when he came off the pitch. Don't quite understand your comment "people complacent him for awarenenss"??? Do you mean compliment, because he certainly deserved praise for his good play! If this all sounds like I'm Brewster's biggest fan, then that's not the case, but credit where credit's due, and as I've already said ad infintum, it was Roy's night after all.
-
split: McBain Testimonial - booing
It may well have been banter, but didn't notice anyone else getting booed throughout the match?? Also I heard a few folk around me passing comment that they thought it was poor show and when I watched him coming off the pitch I thought it was very noticeable that he didn't look up to the crowd at all. Maybe he did smirk, but I bet he was pretty peed off with it by the end of the match. There was more effort put into booing him than there was cheering Roy throughout the match - not quite right somehow????
-
split: McBain Testimonial - booing
Was lucky enough to be at the match last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. Bazza totally impressed me - another legend! I'm also at a complete loss to understand why an element of the crowd was booing Brewster all the time - utterly disgraceful considering it was Roy's night and I thought the whole idea of a testimonial was to have a fun night to support a player who's been a true servant of the club. Surely these eejits need to remember this and put stupid grudges aside for one night??? Let's face it, he didn't need to turn up, but he did for Roy's special night and fair play to him for doing so. Some of us also had the misfortune of having missiles lobbed at us from the back of the stand - okay they were only a pencil and a pen, but from a distance these things can injure someone. Why not enjoy the game and keep the childish antics outside the ground???

Matchday Thread: ICT -V- Aberdeen
Fab match, sweet result (well worth the wait), a joy to watch - need I go on?? I had a tear in my eye listening to poor Mark McGhee on the radio afterwards - don't know how he managed to drag himself up here with so many injured players and so little talent to choose from. Poor soul! What a gurny wee sh.te he is - the poor interviewer probably had no idea what he was letting himself in for. An absolute plethora of excuses for his side getting humped by us - no mention of course of the fact that we had one or 2 injury problems ourselves??? Also the fact that we had some young boys in the squad who, I might add, played some stonkin football. Oh how his interview made me laugh - go back to sucking lemons all week you miserable git! Well done ICT boys - you did us proud yet again and sooooo deserved it.

Well done MAIN STAND
Don't think it lasted for very long tho - think they must have comes to their senses pretty smart and then sat down again to rustle sweety papers!

What was in the tupperware?
Take your pick - Duracell batteries? Ham sandwich? The "How to be an Efficient Steward" official handbook? Wee (coz he probably got caught short p.shing himself in all the excitement)? Toilet paper? Clean underwear? Gestapo armband? Oh, how I could go on ad infinitum .................

BBC Celtic
I think we're all fully aware of the bias towards the old firm in the Scottish media, but on the other hand I think ICT fans are fully justified in complaining about the lack of exposure our team gets, apart from in local press etc. On saying that, as me & the family were leaving Dundee after a truly stonking match, BBC Scotland actually said the word "fantastic" TWICE (yes, I said TWICE!!!) when commenting on how we played. High praise indeed!
-
BBC Celtic
Dunno if anyone was listening to the radio (BBC Scotland) while trying to get out of the carpark (god knows, that's traumatic enough without listening to the radio), but I was totally amazed to hear the comments made about Smellsick and what happened during the match. It appears they weren't playing another team at all - all of us ICT fans were just watching an imaginary local team!!! How deluded can we be? All the commentators banged on about was Smellsick and basically how wonderful they are (no change there then), but I really think it's about time they woke up and smelled the coffee - Scotland does have a lot of other teams apart from the old firm and not all of us have the glory hunter mentality to support them!

Pies and a ****
Organised chaos to put it mildly - the kids staffing the food bars didn't know if they were coming or going, and obviously had far too much to cope with. Surely some adult supervision/guidance/help wouldn't go amiss? Prices are completely OTT - if only all the fans were courageous enough to boycott the food bars until prices are brought down to a more reasonable level. I noticed that Macdougall & Hasties prices were far far better. My nephew got 2 delicious chicken curry pies at Morrisons for £1.20!!! Sensible boy! I do have to admit that I like to have a pie at the match (adds to the afternoon, there's no doubt), but come on ICT, bring some pressure to bear on those who set the prices.

So which result is bigger?
County's is the bigger result because it was a semi at Hampden but our result in 2000 definitely had more shock value and it was against a much better Celtic team. Celtic fans were calling yesterday the worst performance they'd ever seen and they weren't wrong. Enough already please with the "Support the Highlands" twaddle. I've only lived up here for 7 years so maybe I just have a different take on things but RCFC are our rivals. Congrats to them for a great performance but I no more want to support them in a final or any other game than fly in the air. Anybody who calls themselves an ICT supporter shouldn't be jumping on other peoples bandwagons. :P
