  1. Not necessarily get relegated but we will defo struggle is wot im trying to say, and well yes we will just need to see because its not looking the best at the moment is it now?
  2. As the new season rapidly approaches us, does any really think TB is going to make anymore significant signings be4 we get going? IMHO i think if he doesnt we are destined for the drop or are atleast going to struggle :S
  3. I'm still honestly very worried about our defence and i think these pre-season friendlies prove it. We should be pummeling these teams into the ground although it is a completely differnt team this season so.. I think if we plan on staying up this season we ATLEAST need another 1 or 2 experienced CB's and a RB. Also another tall, goal scoring forward would be good but cant see anymore forwards being brought in. Also dont see the point in Stevenson as we have plenty of good midfielders dont we?? Just my honest opinion though.
  4. ross seems like the rooney replacement at the moment !! :O :D
  5. Of course no one is bigger than the club but letting Grant Munro leave was a huge risk. It will only be a positive if we manage to successfully reshape our defence and with two weeks to go until the start of the season that hasn't happened yet. Fingers crossed. . . .
  6. Think it's become pretty clear that the club have no intention of paying a fee for any player. My main concern is the defence. We need more cover and someone with experience. The decision to let Munro go looks - at the moment - less and less understandable.
  7. Getting mine through the finance company - does anyone know when they start taking the dosh out of your bank account?

    Adam Rooney

Didn't notice him on the training ground when STV had their football report on tonight. Time he was told to make his mind up - how long does he need??
  9. Could be a good signing as long as people don't think he's going to score 20 goals a season cos he won't. Almost guaranteed to become a cult figure!
  10. There's nothing wrong with the Local Hero tune for the team taking the field. Be honest how many people at TCS are going to start singing along to any song played before the start of a game?
  11. Seems we're not the only club to be doing this - quite a few shock departures from St Johnstone too, according to STV news earlier.
  12. Absolute classic - have you thought about doing the matchday programme?? You'd get my vote any day!
  13. I'm sure TB does know what he wants to do the question is whether it will work. Plugging all the gaps with loanees and frees from English lower league reserve sides is a high risk strategy for ICT and for Butcher.
  14. RD has started 7 out of our 10 league wins this season and 10 out of 14 wins in all competitions.
  15. Mistake. Butcher's worst decision since taking over, only time will tell how damaging it may be. TB must think combative and experienced midfielders grow on trees. Good luck to Russell for future.
  16. Er, yes. More assiduously than you I suspect. Scotty is absolutely right that the original statement on the website was, shall we say, a tad hubristic! But since when has it been off limits for anyone to poke a stick at the OF? I think CaleyD is assuming those of us who support the general tone of this website are taking it 100% seriously as some kind of blueprint for the league. Not the case. If it succeeds in raising the profile of the other 10 clubs in however small a way then I support it. That's all. Probably time to draw a veil.....
  17. That's still excluding the OF. You call yourself "The Real SPL" yet your entire idea/site is based around pretending two teams just don't exist...is that meant to be some kind of irony and I'm somehow missing the punchline? The foundations upon which it is set will only serve to give the powers that be something else to use to undermine the word of the fans and anyone who tries to give it any kind of legitimacy will only serve to do more harm than good. By all means, have your fantasy league. On that basis I think it will draw interest in terms of curiosity or novel distraction, but it is certainly not an idea on which to base any kind of serious campaign. What Scottish football needs right now is for people to be putting their time and effort into campaigning for proper workable ideas and solutions to the problems being faced....a league without the OF is about as far removed from that as you can get right now. Oh dear this has struck a raw nerve for some reason. Don't think the people behind this website are under any illusions that it IS just a fantasy league. What's wrong with that? If it is a campaign it seems to me to be merely about trying to highlight the fact that the OF are not the be all and end all of Scottish football. Presumably you think it's ok that Rangers and Celtic have constantly agitated to leave the SPL for well over a decade now, and no doubt would have already gone if anybody had actually wanted them. Such actions have undermined the viability of the SPL far more than publicising a league table without them in it would do.
  18. The other 10 teams in the SPL, excluding the Edinburgh derby, get their biggest home crowds against the OF so they really do have a massive influence on the amount of people that watch and attend scottish football games. Without them every other SPL team would get less people through the door, hence less money - we do benefit from their inclusion in the SPL so don't really get what this site is all about? My point is that if teams have something tangible to play for then having the OF visit is not a prerequisite to attracting a large attendance. I think the SPL benefits from the OF because they attract TV money, but if they were to leave, teams such as Hearts, Dundee Utd, Motherwell etc would contest the title and many clubs attendances would increase overall IMO. Sadly not going to happen in the foreseeable!
  19. All for it! Anyhting that diverts attention away from the Old Firm is to be applauded. Incidentally over 11,000 at Dunfermline V Raith yesterday fans WILL turn out for competitive meaningful football whether the OF are involved or not.
  20. Our record under Terry Butcher isn't too bad in that respect, although it doesn't come close to Pele's, what was it, three and a half seasons without a 0-0? We've only had one league 0-0 this season (against Motherwell), two last season (against County and Dunfermline) and one under Terry the season before (against Celtic, in his first game - which we can let him off with). Re the original post, though, I fully expect us to make an @rse of it against Hamilton - they're bound to win at least once before they take their leave, and given our record against them, we look like the most likely victims. Just for the record we also had a 0-0 at home to Ayr last season.
  21. Yes it's almost as if some fixtures and ko times have been arranged to ensure the sparsest possible attendance. The SPL could then turn round again and say only a ten team league can bring the fans back.
  22. Thought the Mark Knopfler tune worked well. Gets my vote.
  23. Good news. Not yet the wooden stake through the heart that this proposal deserves unfortunately. Why, after two cancelled votes, can the SPL not forget about it?
  24. Apologies if I'm raking over old ground here, but can anyone shed any light on what's wrong with him and why he hasn't been playing? Seems like an absolute age since we saw him in a Caley strip.
