How many times is Butcher going to trot out that line? Why do paid professionals need punishing like this in the hope of producing a professional display? If motivation is an issue, then it's simple, don't pick those who can't be arsed or won't play to their potential. Tansey for me looked the worst offender in this department yesterday. Ultimately the question has to be asked, why are they not motivated?

Glad you enjoyed yourself yesterday. Perhaps if someone at the club reads my post they might not bother in future. They certainly didn't bother their arse doing any good against Rangers. By all means continue the Ostrich approach though.

I must have missed him trying. As a matter of fact, can anyone confirm he was playing today?

Not posted in a long time because I very rarely attend the stadium these days partly due to financial constraints. This season I have attended Motherwell, Dundee Utd and now the Rangers game. Pish, every last one of them. There's really no other way to put it, either for the sake of being nice because one of the players might look at this thread or because it might upset a poster. As has been touched on by a couple of folk, the other part of me staying away is the grade A pish being served up to the punters. I paid damn good money last season to be entertained. Yes I may have had a nice discount for having endured our time in the First, but was that nice discount really worth having to feel like it was a chore to attend to watch us be gubbed by some two-bit SPL welterweight? During last season, I regularly pointed out that our defence was no where near good enough for this level. A remark which, whenever I brought it up, was equally as regularly told that I was being too harsh and I expected too much of the team. Fast forward to now, and we've got rid of two of the players I regularly gave heat. In losing Munro and Duncan we got rid of the two players who most regularly gave possession away. Now I honestly couldn't tell you who our first choice defensive lineup is. All I know is it regularly contains the words Tokely and Proctor and therein layeth a problem for me. Proctor is just plain crap. There's no other way to dress it up. He needs to go and has needed to go since our season in the First where he was even shown up at that level. He is not an SPL player. Tokely is just past it. He might have the occasional flash of defensive brilliance but is that really enough to justify including him in a lineup to face some very good, fast paced attacking lineups that the SPL contains? It worries me and it should worry everyone else that we have not one, but two former international level defenders in charge of this team, and it seems neither one of them can see the problems that I for one can. I will take the time to say that from what I have seen this season, our wide and attacking positions are adequately covered for this level, same for goalkeeper. However the attack only works well when the centre of midfield play well which leads me nicely to my next point. What the hell?... Can anyone explain to me what's going on in our centre of midfield? I noticed today that Foran didn't seem to be his usual whinging, "blameless" self but was that just today? He's lost his ability to jump completely or at least time his jumps well enough to win a header. He did display some nice touches and some accurate passing, usually to Tansey who invariably gave the ball away, fell over, or ran (very slowly) in the wrong direction. What exactly does Tansey take to the team? I guess I hope more than anything that a Foran/Tudor-Jones pairing will work. I also guess Butcher is really sweating, hoping that this will work as well. As for everyone giving it the "that was one of the Old Firm" argument, sorry that's not washing with me. What we just saw was by far the worst Rangers side we have seen for a generation at least tear us apart almost at will. If that doesn't make you pissed then I worry for our support. As things stand, it's going to be a very long, long time before I ever pay to get back into that stadium again. I imagine I'm not alone in this.

Not posted in a long time but feel this is merited. Really just looking to see what other folks opinions on him are? As far as I can see it, he must have compromising photo's of Terry or someone higher up. To be able to retain a place in the match day squad, let alone the starting lineup with his performances lately is nothing short of baffling. I recall last season folk said that he was carrying an injury for the majority of the season... Is this still the case? If so and it's affecting his performance thusly, he should be on the treatment table, not on the field.

Remember John Rankin had Man Utd on his CV too...
-
I'm 99% certain that I know who is other aliases are/have been on here and on P&B.

I trust we're talking about the same "ultimatum" here? I think it's possible that this ultimatum might have created waves with other members of the old guard, who in turn could start grumbling himself and creating unrest. Like I said, just playing devils advocate, I don't know if that's what is or isn't happening.
-
Just to play devils advocate for a second... The whole "Has he lost the dressing room" thing is entirely plausible if the Inverness rumour mill is to be believed. Well some of the existing dressing room from last season anyway...
-
Not a subscriber to the "too early to panic/talk about relegation" merchants. We are nothing short of absolute horsesh*t and something needs done. Calling for Butchers head is stupid - I think the answer could be as simple as a tactics change. Oh and some players that aren't crocked/prone to being crocked and are actually footballers please.
-
I don't know. I don't mind contracts being awarded like that for players that produce the goods. All Tokely produces is conceded goals and penalties.
-
That's a bit of an oxymoron isn't it? By playing Proctor we absolutely do deserve to be 2-0 down. If this new signing is any good that only leaves a good, physical, commanding centre back we'll need to replace Tokely. If Munro was told he wasn't wanted, then I guess I can only assume Tokely has compromising photo's of Tel, Mo, or the BoD because he sure ain't being paid because he's a good defender!
-
It's funny you mention that there's a difference. I'm of the opinion that the absolute worst type of Old Firm fan are the local one's. All of them absolutely love to gloat about their multi-million pound team beating our shoe-string run budget team and these same folk can't take it when we beat them. It's proper toys out the pram, actual car crash material to hear the way they go on after we beat them. Perhaps a bit of a sweeping generalisation this as well, but I'm firmly of the opinion that the local Old Firm persuaded population are the one's most likely to burst into sectarian songs when they're playing us! The funniest thing is, absolutely none of them can hold their own in a conversation on football either. Scientific fact right there.

Because Golabek is slower than a week in jail. At the moment until Gillet's back, Shinnie is the best we've got at left back.
-
He has to start against Yinited. He'll turn Sean Dillon inside out!
-
I recall an incident at Pittodrie this season where Munro fell over in the box while waiting for the delivery of a Hayes free kick. In all honesty I'd quite happilly see us continue doing that. If it's good enough for everyone else to do then **** them, they can have their own medicine.
-
If the decision was correct to send him off, then why is it not in the (extremely edited) highlights?
-
Seriously pal, what's your game here? There was no swinging arm or fist. Nothing but handbags and Maguire fell like a sack of tatties to get Munro sent off. It really is as simple as that.
-
I'm absolutely gobsmacked at that game. So many controversial talking points. All IMVHO... 1. We were playing against 13 men tonight. The referee and main stand side linesman had it in for us big time. 2. Never a sending off for Granty. Macguire is a cheating basa and should be cited in retrospect for that. 3. Clear red card for the tackle on Shinnie (?). The fact that the ref didn't issue a red makes a mockery of the SFA. 4. Whoever it was that scored the first goal should have been booked for his celebration. Absolutely no need for that and the ref bottled it. Again. I could go on a rant about specific players but to be honest I can't be arsed and it'd be a waste of time and effort.

What program's on at the moment? Edit: that's not what I'd ask Doncaster by the way. On second thoughts perhaps I would. It'd be a good test to see how much of a grip he has on reality.
-
The answer to that should be fairly obvious. Like Graham Bennet, Henry McLeish used to play footie at a low level, therefore it's only natural to give them both a football related job, right? I mean, they played football, so they know absolutely everything about Scottish football inside and out.
-
My only question for him would be "Neil, with every fan in the country disagreeing with you, will you do the right thing and resign?"
-
Sutherland isn't fit to speak Terry's name IMO. The sooner we're rid of him, the better.
-
So he can keep beating Doncaster about the bonce with it?
