Who will be the 3 candidates?
Excellent article but quite literally the whole thing is no different to what a lot of us are saying or have said on various managerial threads

RORY MCALLISTER
In the last few years he has had Brewster, Dargo, Wyness, Bayne etc to work with ..... He just couldnt take his training ground / reserve form to the first team for whatever reason. I wish him well, and hope he starts banging them in wherever he goes, albeit at a lower level.

New manager thread (merged)
I would hope the club are looking beyond wages alone as their main criteria for choosing a manager. They have to choose the candidate they feel has the best chance of reversing our freefall, whoever that may be. Relegation to the first division has been quoted by some chairmen who have been in this position (or in the relegation zone at least) as costing a club about 2 MILLION pounds in lost revenue and the parachute payment doesnt come anywhere close to that ...... with a better Setanta deal coming into force next season and higher prize money, that number could be even higher. I happen to believe Robbo is one of 3 or 4 potential candidates that could keep us up, but the board have to choose wisely .... discard the fanciful names who have no managerial experience or who have a history of failure, discard those we truly can't afford or who see it as a short term commitment or another part-time job, and get down to the nitty gritty of choosing someone who will devote their time into rebuilding a decent bunch of lads into a cohesive team who fight for each other and the club on the park.

I would have absolutely no problem with Knox, and as I posted earlier, I reckon he would be the ideal man to take the likes of Charlie and/or Barry under his wing and groom them for the future.

Supporters Trust - PayPal
As I said, we were happy to work with the Supporters Trust to get this done. Not sure who made the suggestion initially, but I know we suggested it to a few folk some time ago and the ST have now created their own paypal account which we have linked to via LG's signature It is our hope that we will be able to put a permanent button somewhere within the site - similar to the "Donate to CTO" button at the bottom of this page, and that will allow LG to go back to having a normal signature !!! As i alluded to above - We would also welcome the opportunity to do the same for the centenary club and the supporters club if they get themselves setup with a similar paypal account to the Trust.

Supporters Trust - PayPal
Some of you may have noticed that LG's signature now contains a paypal button. We are happy to have worked with LG and the Trust to enable this feature so that those of us outside Inverness can join the Trust in an easier fashion ....... Happy to say I am now a member myself too Next step - get the centenary club to do the same thing !

Brian Irvine/Duncan Shearer
It means that in the paypal system, it is setup as a subscription, billed once per year for 5 years. However, as with any Paypal subscription, you can cancel this via the paypal website at any time.

Who will be the 3 candidates?
no, get it straight. you got locked - or more accurately banned from a thread - for breaking the site rules in regards to personal comments which happened to be about Robbo. Other threads which have been locked (not just yours) have been locked by a number of different moderators because we already have multiple threads about new managers. If you post within the rules, you will be fine ........

inspiration
I take cuttings of all the negative stuff that has been written in the papers, I also take what is probably some ludicrous bookies odds and I pin it all up on the whiteboard before we get down to discussing tactics (and the set pieces we have been practising all week) and tell the players to have a look. [worked for Pele Vs Celtic in that game] After that, I tell the players that I believe in them, that the fans believe in them, and that the journalists and bookies deserve to eat their words and today is the first course of what will be a very satisfying meal. I also make the point that it is a clean slate for everyone. What is past is past and the future is what they want to make it in terms of their role in the team/squad. Then (after the tactics discussion) I tell them to go out, do what they do best and play flowing football, on the deck, and to work hard not only for themselves, but for the team and the fans.

John Robertson (Robbo)
He didnt have much winning over to do ...... I think a lot of fans liked him before that, whether it was his bubbly personality last time round, or whether it was because he fiercely defends ICT and the Inverness area in general on the air when other reporters try to make stereotypical remarks. He was doing all that long before Brewster's jacket was on a shoogly peg. It was nice to see him on here, and if he were to get the job, I am sure we would attempt to get him back on here on the odd occasion but maybe in a more structured way via articles or chatroom or something like that as opposed to as a random poster .... Of course, Mr Sutherland never used the same tactics when he granted us exclusive interviews, or asked for get togethers to be arranged via the website did he? ....... [i know IHE - Double Voddie and Coke]. Its all a game, and most fans are happy to play that game if it means they feel their voices are being heard or that they are somehow acknowledged or involved.

Who will be the 3 candidates?
believe the guy in the middle may have lost a lot of weight since that pic was taken ! although the Three Tenors is pretty much what the other two will be told their budget for new players is.

Who will be the 3 candidates?
Where do they get the names? ...... when any job in Scotland comes along you can be sure they will contain a tried and tested formula of names ..... In Caley Thistle's case that will always include Former managers - because we have done it before with Brewster. Out of work managers with a connection to the area - because of the "geography problem". Out of work managers who are Scottish - because we are in the SPL. Ageing or recently retired players looking to get into management - because we did it with CC & Brewster. Up and coming managers from lower leagues - because they are quoted for every job. People we were allegedly interested in last time round - because it requires no research. People who actually declare an interest - and if they dont get it they will be included in the list next time. Looking at the list, that takes care of about 90% of them - the rest come from a journo's imagination

Who will be the 3 candidates?
Huey, Dewey and Louie ... with Huey getting it for his red/black hat. Dewey was close but his blue hat was not the right shade.

I will be moving the Ossie Ardiles posts to the Ossie Ardiles thread ..... this thread started off discussing John Robertson's application and has drifted somewhat.

John Robertson (Robbo)
I have removed a number of posts from this thread and banned DRAGAN from the thread pending a moderator discussion about his/her status on the rest of the site. Stevico / Blackieforce / iloveeidurgudjohnsen - you guys also had posts removed. There was nothing wrong with your comments but they referenced, quoted or were in response to the offending comments so were also removed to clean up the thread. We made an announcement earlier this week about getting overly personal about Craig Brewster. May we just reiterate that this also applies to other club personnel including former managers. Personal comments, especially those which are scurrilous or abusive in nature will not be tolerated and we were not joking when we said we will hand out bans to persistent offenders.

I kind of know what you mean - I mentioned his record earlier ..... However, I believe that in contrast to Brewster, who started with a decent record in each stint with us and then declined as time went on, Robbo would have done it the other way and improved on his SPL start (which can be somewhat mitigated by several factors). Not that we want to go back there, but his SFL record in season 03/04 was the best full-season record in ICT history eclipsed only by Pele's 02/03 record which covered the 21 games before he headed off to the Dons. Robbo's record Brewster's record

just for clarification ..... DJS is David Sutherland from the Supporters Trust, a moderator and poster on here .... DFS is David Sutherland our major shareholder.

Radio Scotland have just announced
At the end of the day, Robbo would be the easy option - local, knows the players, always passionate about the club on the radio (even before the fan uprising) etc etc etc but I cant fault the club for at least taking a little time over it .... You never know who will come out of the woodwork when the job is available (Ardiles aside) and there is the possibility that a previously unconsidered candidate might come forward and be perfect for it. However, now that he has put in a formal application, I would hope the club do consider him as a strong candidate and if there are any personal issues clouding anyone's judgement on the matter they can put those aside and make a decision based purely on merit. Personally, I am on the fence here. I like Robbo's persona and manner and think he would do well in healing the dressing room as well as the fan/board split by bringing us all together again. However, his SPL stats weren't much better than Brewster's although you could argue mitigating circumstances in that we had just been promoted to the SPL and were finding our feet and had to do it playing at Pittodrie so were on a steep learning curve in an unusual place. He hasnt been a spectacular success elsewhere, but neither has he been a spectacular failure either, something which cannot be said of Brewster and DUFC. On balance, I would be happy with his appointment initially until the end of the season, and if he can keep us up, permanently. The fact that a respected (former) player has come out and backed him also puts an additional plus mark on the application for me. Of the other names mentioned, I do like the idea of Butcher as I always thought he was decent at Motherwell and can remember having discussions on here about how refreshing the likes of him and one or two other managers were in their honest comments after games. My big fear over TB is that he has a good number with his TV work and part-time Scotland gig so we would be nothing more than a third part-time job and this relegation dogfight needs the full attention of the manager. I very much doubt we could compensate him adequately if he were to give up either of his other P/T jobs so unless he is prepared to do the job F/T it has to be a no from me. The only other candidate who is resonating with me at the moment is Archie Knox and it is not clear whether he is just a name on the bookies list or a real candidate. If he is a real candidate then he might just eclipse Robbo in my mind. He has vast experience, is respected by some of the top names in the game (like Fergie) and might be the very man to take Barry and Charlie under his wing for a few seasons before inevitably moving on to a bigger club once again.
