Taking The Scottish Cup For Granted
because we play these teams so many times over the course of a season the novelty factor has worn off. Add economy woes to that and despite the cheaper ticket prices, many will simply not go.

Hype / Hysteria
Heck, as much as I agree with you IHE, we need our heads in the clouds for a little while after the dross we have been subjected to. Anything from the Arabs will be a bonus as will any points from the top 6 or 7 teams. The appetite for a scrap will be shown by results against the other 4 teams towards the bottom of the table. Butcher is a motivator and we have already seen what the lads can produce when motivated ..... I think his signings have been decent (given the amount of time he had to make them) and along with possibly the best signing made by Brewster (Mihadjuks), and a motivated bunch of long serving players, I think we have the squad to pull this off. Its going to be a wild ride, but we will survive.

Updated: Scottish Cup Quarter Final Draw
I managed to view Cup Sportscene live by tuning into BBC Scotland using the Zattoo player ... but it only works if you can grab yourself a UK IP address. Online highlights are non-existent due to media rights issues for both UK and global users. Incidentally, ticketing details for the QF game are now posted here: http://community.caleythistleonline.com/in...showtopic=10963

Inverness Courier
Well, I am the opposite. I like Robbo. I dont know the man all that well having met him only two or three times, but each time I came across him he was fine. Because of the blocking of overseas broadcasts (live commentary part at least), I have had to listen to open all mics many times over the last couple of years and Robbo is nothing if not supportive of the Inverness area and ICT. So much so that in recent months it seems to be a bit of a slag-fest between him and Chic with the latter making the stereotypical comments about tractors, horses and carts etc to get a rise out of Robbo and Robbo being fiercely protective when derogatory or ignorant comments are made. He freely admitted on-air to being "gutted" at not getting the ICT job but I didnt notice any perceivable shift from him in terms of turning against ICT or the fans. I personally favoured him for the job, but I am not bitter about it, and I dont think he is. With hindsight, the appointment of Butcher (who was another on my personal "acceptable" list) looks to have been inspirational but only time will tell. not sure what any of this has to do with the Courier though !!!!

Ticket Refund?
- Inverness Courier
From our award winning Courier reporters never !!! http://www.inverness-courier.co.uk/news/fu...and_awards.html- Ticket Refund?
Fair play to the club(s) .... :thumb04: ICT have argued for refunds in the past for postponed games (Celtic / Killie) and won refunds for their fans, but as far as I can remember, this is the first time they (or any other club?) have voluntarily given out refunds for a match that actually took place. credit where credit is due.- Is It Time To Punt Mcguire?
I am happy to let Terry Butcher and Maurice Malpas make that decision ! Perhaps they can inspire PM in the same way as they seem to have inspired Lionel.- Updated: Scottish Cup Quarter Final Draw
I believe this is the case - remember this discussion coming up when we had our first Hampden semi. But the split is 5 ways I believe as Queens Park also get a cut. not sure if its a full share but they certainly get something- Barry Wilson Dvd

I think the management style is more collaborative now whereas before it was autocratic. A manager who can succesfully use this style tends to be less insecure about his authority than an autocratic manager and is happy to devolve power or responsibility to others (his "mafia" as quoted in the media) and only be autocratic when the circumstance dictates. I think our players have, and will continue to respond to this style of management.- The Stripes
I have said it numerous times, but I agree 100% that our home strip should be based on stripes. I have no problem if we go with predominantly blue or red in differing designs in different years, but feel the base design should always be stripes. We can use the away strip to 'experiment' with other designs. Birdog - we also have a page with our old strips: http://caleythistleonline.com/shirts.html which we need to update. We were going to get all the strips in pictures and then do some nice 3D drawings of them but it never happened (yet)- 9 Years Ago Today
There was a thread raised a year or two ago - probably on the old software so not accessible - where there was talk of renaming ICT to Inverness or Inverness City (before another team took that name). I seem to remember that a lot of fans were against any rename as it was felt that we had already created our own identity and history as Inverness Caledonian Thistle. That is a viewpoint I tend to agree with. As Inverness Caledonian Thistle (ICT) we became one of the first two teams from the Highland League to be elevated to the Scottish senior leagues. As ICT, we have progressed from the third division to the Premier League in 10 seasons. As ICT we have pulled off some major giant-killing results along the way including that result which I would agree is perhaps over-used but regardless is an indelible part of our short history. As ICT we have forced change in the game during our short tenure in the senior leagues (forcing a rethink on refund policy after Celtic and Kilmarnock postponements, playing our part in the 10000 -> 6000 all-seater rule etc). As ICT we can be proud of what we have achieved in such a short space of time. The only thing that irks me about the Celtic result is that it overshadows other glorious cup days .... we did the same thing to Hearts at Tynecastle, but it caused barely a ripple as it was the conquerors of Celtic that achieved it, we reached two Hampden semi-finals, but again, little was made of it as we were now the team that took on the mantle of Cup Killers in the same way as Airdrie had possessed that title years earlier. I am proud of what we have achieved, and look forward to the next round of achievements .... perhaps cup success, qualification for Europe, a top six success. We have no divine right to these, but like all the other achievements or milestones in our short history, we can dream and hope to achieve them. As for the 'refuseniks' .... fair play to them, their numbers may be dwindling, but there is still a hardcore few who have stuck to their guns. Do I agree with them? No. Do I respect their right to have that view? Of course I do. I think they are missing out, but that is their decision. I actually thought about the parallels with the 'refuseniks' recently when Brewster made his ridiculous "20" comment. There were a damn site more than 20 people calling for 'refusenik' style actions in an effort to oust Brewster. They were doing it because they felt the club they love was going down the pan ..... just like Mr douglas and those of his ilk did in 1993/94. It was never going to work for the merger as there was such a groundswell in favour of that, but luckily, it did this time and we have already seen that Butcher has made a positive difference.- Missing Supporters
This thread is closed. It bears no resemblance to the question originally asked and has descended into a slagging match.- 9 Years Ago Today
Oh what a memory ...... organised a bus for the original game only to hear unconfirmed reports when traveling down London Road that it was off. Organised another for the replay and what a night ...... here's some nostalgia ...... Radio5Live Report http://caleythistleonline.com/audio/radio.wav Steve Paterson on Radio Scotland immediately after the game http://caleythistleonline.com/audio/pele.wav Charlie Christie on Radio Scotland immediately after the game http://caleythistleonline.com/audio/charlie.wav Some ICT fan called Scotty interviewed on Radio5 after the game when on the bus being escorted out of Glasgow (fantastic was the word that came out, but it was another F-word that was trying to make it out ) http://caleythistleonline.com/audio/scott.wav- Fernandez: Diver, Whinger Or Top Player?
agree with #1 - although a sliding tackle can go either way in the refs eyes disagree with #2 - at least he had the balls to change his mind when shown where the tackle was. agree with #3 Followed by Fernandez' attempt at a long jump record. Indeed .... cheating whingeing b****** ..... and as someone pointed out, not the first time- Ict -v- Kilmarnock : Matchday Thread
just watched the highlights (what there was of them) .... and have to say it doesnt look like a penalty to me ...... Pavels tackles him and he goes on for a couple of yards before doing the dying swan inside the box .... the ref changed his mind because he could see the marks in the snow where the tackle happened as well as the marks 5 yards further on where Fernandez landed. Both goals were nice. Pavels gets up high and scored a great header, and Rooney's was turned in nicely.- Ict -v- Kilmarnock : Matchday Thread
dont think the BBC have the rights to show highlights of the cup on the Internet, and if they do it is UK only I am afraid. Last round was not available anywhere online as far as I can tell. Edit: not available online (at BBC website) but available on VPN via Zattoo player- Pre Cup Final Party In Glasgow
lets not get above ourselves here. We have qualified for the quarter finals and must concentrate on that match first.- Ict -v- Kilmarnock : Matchday Thread
5 games actually .... but he does join Barrowman, Black, Morais, and Vigurs on two goals.- Djebi-zadi
yup, think a lot of us can eat humble pie after the last two games .... lets hope it continues........- Foran
- When Will We Get Our Own Identity?
How about Battlefield by Wolfstone ........ no need to change the lyrics as there are none and we could just hum the tune .... "de, dee,de,dee, da diddle dee" ...... etc - a bit like Billy Connolly's national anthem joke suggesting the Archers theme - just insert Caley Jags inside the humming somewhere- Djebi-zadi
