  1. I am prepared to wait and see what is actually said by the board and by Butcher before condemning either them or him. The Scotland gig is for a few games a year on weekends where SPL games are not scheduled, the Setanta one is for the Sunday game when our players will normally have a day off so it is possible to combine the jobs and still give 100%. ....... If we are playing on a Sunday and he pops up on Setanta, then we have a problem, until then, give the guy a chance. I have also heard a whisper that the Setanta post may be relinquished - not sure of the validity of that whisper though.
  2. If its down to two - Butcher or Robertson - I will be happy with either.
  3. it was going in anyway and McBain just tried to stop it ... he had no chance at that angle though
  4. As part of Barry's testimonial year, a full length DVD was made up of the evening which includes the following Full 90 minutes of the Liverpool game. Legends match at half time. Interviews and speeches etc. Pre match build up etc. These DVD's are a limited edition (only 20 have been produced) and Barry and his committee have offered us two to auction on the site. The winner of the first DVD will be the user with the highest serious bid. The winner of the second copy will be one of the other bidders drawn at random who will then pay their bid amount for that copy. Barry will sign and present the DVDs to the winners and the cash raised will go to the ICT Youth and Community dept. Unfortunately, we do have to have some rules to this auction but they are short and sweet. Bids should be serious and should be made on this thread only. Bids posted on other threads will be ignored. This is not a discussion thread ... Posts that have no bids will be deleted - We will start with a reserve price of ?10 and bids should increment by at least ?1 per bid. - The auction is open to "regular site users" only. In the event of a dispute, the moderators and site admin will determine the interpretation of this rule, but basically, the rule of thumb is that you should have been registered and made some posts prior to the initial posting date of this message. - Any bids made which we feel are frivolous or are designed to disrupt the auction will be removed and the poster will be banned from the thread instantly and permanently. - Should you make the winning bid and fail to pay up, you will be banned from this site permanently. In the event that this happens, the second highest bid will be offered the DVD at their bid price. - The auction is now open and will run for the next 14 days (closing date 9th February. 9PM) HAPPY BIDDING
  5. I dont actually think Brewster's signings were that big a problem ...... it was his tactics and lack of man management that were his downfall. He brought in 4 players this window - Mihadjuks, Morais, Gatheussi, and Byrne. The jury will be out on Byrne and Gattheussi until they have a decent amount of playing time but Mihadjuks certainly looks decent and Morais had a stunning debut. If you add another Brewster signing - Imrie - to the mix then I will say again that quite a few of his signings were not that bad ..... I know we could use Zadi and others to point the other direction but lets not forget, he was only able (allowed?) to give any of his signings a contract to the end of the season so these guys have a little over 4 months to prove to the new guy that they are worth keeping or he can punt them.
  6. Forgive me for being dense ..... but what does he actually do on Setanta ? Is it the Sunday SPL games or does it involve midweek games ? If its just the Sunday games, then dont see a problem with it as most weeks the players and coaches will have Sunday off. If it means committments throughout the week then that will be a problem as I agree that the job has to be a bit more than a part time hobbyjob. the Scotland job is not a huge concern as SPL games are usually cancelled for Scotland games and there is a chance we could benefit, either by getting the odd player into the squad or by him identifying good up and coming players who might come to ICT .......
  7. Dont think he isnt interested - but he is not a player that should be sitting on the bench and we all know that. Play him or let him go. end of story.
  8. At the end of the day he is either in serious contention for the team or he is not. I agree with IHE who said that when Gatheussi went off, Rossco should have gone to RB and we could have slotted Black into the midfield rather than bring Proctor on. Black's own comments in the papers made it quite plain that he was determined to show what he could do if he actually got on the pitch so leaving him festering on the bench was a mistake IMHO. If we are going to play him, then lets do that. If we are not, and he is going to warm the bench then sort something out with Hearts and let him go. He is of no use to us kicking his heels on the bench ..... and his contribution to the team is evident by the fact that he is so far ahead in the POY rankings that we could almost declare him as the POY already !!!!!
  9. The thing is Don, it IS an issue, whether we like it or not. It perhaps shouldn't be an issue, and it doesnt help that it is trotted out all the time, but it is for some. You must know yourself from your days on the buses that the roadscape changes the minute you go north of Perth. Gone are the nice wide roads, the dual carraigeways or motorways that mean you can get to where you are going in the central belt reasonably quickly, and before you is 100 miles (and more if you go north of Sneck) of road which is a hotchpotch of different arrangenets of single lane or dual lane roads in either direction. Driving south of Perth whilst not a joy feels modern, safer, and barring traffic snarl-ups, quick. Driving north of Perth feels like you are at the front door of a new adventure .... will there be caravans? will there be some ***hole overtaking on the other side and heading straight for me? how many Tesco lorries will I get stuck behind? ..... until that route is sorted out and made comparable with other major roads in Scotland, it will always feel like you are entering a time warp. I never noticed or paid much attention to it when I lived in Inverness, but travelling over in April, landing in Glasgow, and then driving up the A9 after being used to wide highways over here it was an eye-opener that made me realise why most of the time I fly to London then Dalcross. However, as much as the club cant do anything about the A9 or A96 other than support those calling for modernisation of the routes, they could think out of the box a little. I have suggested it before, but we have a perfectly good airport nearby and looking at their website, you can fly to many more locations in the UK than ever before .... lets make use of that and the fact that one of the main airlines flying from Inverness is our sponsor and maybe offer incentives to players from the south so they can fly back to see relatives every so often. Once they realise we are a little over an hour from London, Birmingham, East Midlands, Manchester, or less than an hour from Edinburgh perhaps we will not seem so remote.
  10. Thats not squirrel - he writes for another paper and has a different name
  11. Yup - got to agree with that. HOWEVER - I also see where JB is coming from. The same linesman didn't see anything wrong with Obua steam-rollering Esson in the first half and allowing the goal to stand, yet saw fit to agree something a lot less physical was a penalty, and then when it was saved decided to call over the ref and have McBain sent off. We dont know what McBain said - that much is true - but I also doubt whether the linesman knows what was said either as there was a collective groan going round the ground and McBain was a fair distance away. Bottom line is that he probably saw pretty much what we did on TV and that appeared to be a reasonably tame gesture. It doesnt excuse Royster, but it backs up the comment someone else made about the linesman having a "history" with ICT.
  12. Until the A9 (and A96) are proper motorway's or at the very least dual carriageways from start to finish the geography "issue" will always be that .... an issue. For some it may be an excuse, for others with friends and family in the central belt, it may be a legitimate complaint. We will get some players/managers who will mention it as a bad point, yet we will have others such as Robbo, Marius, Juanjo etc who see the tranquility and beauty of the highlands as a positive. The captain mentioned people in Canada travelling those sort of distances daily .... and that can be true. I know some people who drive more than 100km in each direction daily. I myself travel 60Km each way to work/home on a daily basis which is a round trip of about 75 miles. However, with the exception of my own residential street, every other road has a minimum of two lanes in each direction and when I get to the highway it at least 4 lanes in each direction and as many as 8 lanes in each direction at some points.
  13. Thats 9 points between us & them FFS and we have to play them 2 more times so could claim 6 of those points back .... all is no lost if we play like we did yesterday. I think it was actually Brewster who said it when he took over last season, and it was one of the few things I agreed with coming out of his mouth, but we need to focus on the team immediately above us, get ahead of them and then focus on the team ahead of us at that point ..... repeat as many times as we can to climb up the table.

Towards the end of the game, I can remember the commentators talking about various things and as they were slowly building up to a corner we had just won, they jumped right back into commentary mode a second later as we had taken a very quick one and tried to catch Hearts out ... so it seems we must have done some set piece work either this past week, or have been allowed to implement stuff worked on before. Thats a big positive for me as realistically, if we want to take much from Celtic we have to try and make the set pieces count.
  15. cant remember which thread mentioned that there was no interview with the "manager" after yesterdays game, but on the BBC there is now an interview with John Doc. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/puffbox/hy...and/7849341.stm

His first goal for the club (V Kilmarnock in April) was also a free kick and it too was a beauty. I was present for that one !!! The commentators were raving about today's goal - said it was probably the best goal scored at Tynie since one in a European competition donkeys years ago. Cant wait to watch it on the sportscene highlights [ ]
  17. Cant speak with authority as I obviously wasn't at the game and didn't have the benefit of seeing BBC Alba but from my normal vantage point of listening to the game via Internet Radio Scotland whilst trying to get the updates ready, I have to say it was thoroughly entertaining - especially the second half. Pavels sounded a decent goal and the commentator might have needed a wee tissue to mop things up after describing how good he thought Dougie's goal was. Its a shame they went straight back up the park and got a winner, but such is life ..... and football. To all those who think the ICT fanbase - especially the naughty 20 - are nothing more than whingers, I would say to you to read this thread ...... we are disappointed at getting nothing from the game that's for sure, but virtually everyone is making positive comments that despite this defeat, the players are to be applauded for the effort they put into it and the fight they showed (a little too much from you though Roy !) ...... Well done lads, more of the same please. With that effort and a few breaks we WILL climb the table.
  18. alternatively - you could go to the stats section http://stats.caleythistleonline.com/matchdetails.php?id=298
  19. nope. second. Barrowman sent off in league cup V Arbroath. It is however our first red card in the league this season
  20. sending off apparently for foul and abusive language. As I said in the introduction to the match report: A defeat it might be, but this was a defeat that felt like the players were battling hard and giving everything they could .... in contrast to the last seven games.
  21. McBain ordered off - straight red as well, not a second yellow.
  22. McBain booked, Imrie lucky not to be booked for kicking the ball away ..... get a grip lads, you are doing well. Esson saves
  23. McBain gives away a penalty
  24. Pavels :thumb04:

Why would we? It's a TV station, not radio. because BBC and ITV now broadcast many of their programs live on the net via things like the BBC iPlayer, their websites and services like Zattoo ....... BBC Alba is definitely available on BBC iPlayer - although I am not sure if the game is getting shown online. If it is, then you would need to be in the UK or at least have a UK based connection via long distance dialup or VPN or something like that.
