  1. I dont have a lot of sympathy for Lennon in most situations but no-one deserves to be attacked like that. You could argue that he sometimes brings things on himself - especially on the pitch, as we have seen - but reading the BBC report, it sounds like he was enjoying a drink with friends, and when he left he was verbally abused first, then jumped from behind by two cowards, at least one of whom was a fairly big boy !!!! No-one deserves that, and whoever did it is cowardly scum.
  2. - Totally agree. I would far rather we got the likes of Black, Cowie and our youngsters like Duff and Vigurs on decent contracts well before any call-ups to the full or U21 squads. Similar thing happened over here with Maurice Edu !!! Good player, MLS Young Player (rookie) of the Year last season, and now settling in at Ibrox after clubs started to take notice of him when he was selected for both the USA full team and the USA Olympic team. The same will happen with Marvell Wynne, the hard as nails right back of TFC who has the speed of a whippet but tackles like a demon. He is not yet the finished article, but I predict that he will end up in Europe within the next 12-18 months.
  3. I for one am actually reasonably happy. I would rather sign no-one than someone who was a panic buy. It seems that we did have our sights on signing at least one out of two or even three different defenders we had targeted to add to the squad and unfortunately we got none of them for various reasons. That tells me that CB realises we need someone in central defence, but to his credit, he didnt panic and sign just anyone as the window was closing which could have been folly. Hopefully, this gives Duff a chance to grow in the role alongside Munro or McGuire (depending on injuries) and if there is still a need come the turn of the year, he will have used the intervening couple of months to scout and target another signing that he may actually get.
  4. Indeed, a shirt worth a few pounds at cost and signed in a spare 30 seconds by the player is the very least you should get for that amount of money. If they are scrimping on that, then I would have to say that this site's involvement in sponsoring Granty, or obtaining sponsors for him, would also have to be looked at.
  5. unfortunately, the boffins at the BBC are pretty good at the old geo-location stuff and identifying and blocking numerous different types of proxy and I have yet to figure out a reliable method of grabbing the highlights ....
  6. Would not have a problem with either player starting a decent amount of games this season .... just so long as those with the coaching skills and experience in bringing on young players, watch out for burnout.
  7. Fixed it ... and TBB's one too as I was at it .... yours should be resized Mantis, will need to look into why its not doing that ... probably some setting over-riding it in your moderator permissions.
  8. I would ... Next weekend, TFC will lose 8 players to various international squads yet will be expected to field a side against Chivas who will be lucky to lose one or two players to international duty. Not only that, TFC fans are faced with a dilemma of whether to head through to Montreal (a 5 hour journey) or go to the TFC game. If they choose to go to the TFC game, they will be rewarded with seeing a seriously understrength team on the park (league's fault not team owners fault).
  9. Dont think they watch him, the CSA doesnt have the resources to have a full time medical team, let alone scouts !! You should think yourself lucky .... next Saturday - the 6th, there are a number of International fixtures all over the globe and yet MLS carries on as normal (they dont take account of any FIFA dates) ..... Toronto FC is expected to be EIGHT (or more) players down next week, not to mention the hundreds if not thousands of TFC fans who will travel to Montreal for the game to support Canada, yet there is no rule in MLS to allow for postponements !
  10. if anyone wants to get personal, take it to personal messages. please keep the thread roughly on-topic.
  11. Think we deserve it. sounds like we have been the better team all day. Fair play to the players, and to Brewster for a.) having decent tactics, b.) keeping the ball on the deck and c.) making timely and effective substitutions
  12. I imagine they will be quite happy that we are playing the ball on the deck where we play it best.
  13. Hamilton 1-2 Hearts current score. Hamilton have used all subs, Hearts have one available.
  14. Wilson & Imrie on for Vigurs & McBain 1-2 ICT : Imrie smashes an unbelievable ball into top corner according to Leckie
  15. Former Player Watch St Mirren 0-1 Aberdeen : Wyness now on for St Mirren and resuming partnership with Dargo who is lucky to be on the park after kicking an opponent and just getting a yellow. no former player watch here ... but interesting to say the least. Alloa were 0-1 down to Stranraer 9 minutes ago .... and now lead 4-1 after scoring in 57, 62,63,65 !!! 1-1 Cowie, assist to Vigurs by sound of it
  16. Barrowman on for Wood (60) Mark Stewart makes it 1-0 for Falkirk (61)
  17. official attendance at Falkirk: 4730 HT reports ...... who is Stuart McCRAPfrey McCrapfrey.mp3
  18. Yeah, sounds like a good game. Hopefully our club might join others in offering subscription audio to fans before the next millenium ..... at least "open all mics" this is better than nothing, last year we got precisely that if you couldnt listen to your chosen game.
  19. Ross Tokely beating 6 or 7 players, playing keepie uppie and then passing to Cowie who puts it over .... Is there something in Leckie's coffee or is this true ? Problem is that with 8 shots on goal and none converted, it makes me feel very uneasy .... we are certainly trying (no complaints there), just wish one of them would hit the back of the net.
  20. see first post of thread. audio commentary not available outside uk as Fakirk have a subscription service they offer to their fans and block BBC ... However, there is a link there to 'open all mics' which is the studio discussion that goes on during games and has commentators butting in with reports. Former Player Watch Prunty gets his second of the day (6th of the season)
  21. Olejnik makes a "great" double save from first Rooney and then Wood according to "open all mics". no live match coverage for todays game for those of us outside UK. However, the bonus is that you hear the action from elsewhere too though ..... County 1 up at Firhill
  22. They mentioned earlier that there was a new 'wooden box' for commentary ..... and a few mins ago said they had moved out of it (?) Former Player Watch Prunty just scored again .......
  23. No Higdon today
  24. Think SKY should go back to just listing the team instead of trying to show the formation ...... Royster in central defence, Jamie Duff on left wing, Garry Wood in midfield and Iain Vigurs up front .... according to them anyway !!
