Aye, exactly. Where were they all on Saturday afternoon ? :thumb04: Amazing how many will turn up when its ?15 for an adult or ?40 for 2 adults and 2 children :018: The fact that it was a testimonial for a respected player also helps ;)

Ian Black ;) :thumb04: I thought that was funny, in a quick-fire stylee. Is po-faced the new black? Dan looked good for the spell he was on last night, but Brew's reported comment doesn't sound promising. Thank **** we never ran up against a team managed by Snow White when Grey'ead was playing, he'd have gone right to pieces. Actually - for once, my comments were not directed at the Immortal one :018:

OK, enough already. I think "Mental Caley Fan" has explained exactly what the comparison was and has done it quite clearly. If you want to continue along this line, do it somewhere else.

Feck me ... either you or your parents must be loaded !!! Very commendable effort indeed.

This is what I dont understand - and maybe it is worth a thread of its own instead of hijacking this one - but since the club was formed we have ALWAYS been better when the ball was played on the deck. When we did this as a matter of routine - even in the lower leagues - we saw some excellent performances, some great wins, and even some championships. Many in the game complimented us on our passing play and made comments that we could actually PLAY football. Knowledgable ICT fans have known this forever, those with even a basic understanding of the game soon spot this to be the case, at heart, our players know this, so WHY WHY WHY WHY does our team management persist in playing this long ball hoofy crap .... our players have the ability to play football, we dont need to resort to this, nor are we suited in terms of the physique and height of our skilled players to do this. Lets get back to using the TCS pitch for the purpose it was designed for ... flowing football that is played on the deck, nice passes from the centre to the wings with the ball running down the camber which was designed for just this purpose (and for drainage). It is far more interesting to watch and without looking at stats, I would hazard a guess that when we do this our results are far better. Brew - you are slowly winning me over in terms of the signings you are at least trying to make and the fact that you will look wherever it takes to bring the right players to TCS ..... now lets work on tactics ..... starting with consigning this long ball **** to the dustbin !!!

Message to Brewster ..... Jimmy Johnstone (5'4"), Gordon Strachan (5'6"), George Best (5'8") ... just 3 who have done ok in scottish football over the years despite their vertical challenges !!!! and lets not even go there with Maradona, Messi, Best, Scholes, Saviola, Davids, Owen and others who have all been on the short side !!! If you are good enough, you are tall enough .... especially if ICT play it on the deck instead of hoofing high balls !!!

that's what I said anyhoo - I echo your sentiments. A lot of work has obviously gone on in the background to organise this and many many people deserve credit ... so to all of them, well done for making tonight a good one by all accounts.

Spelling Police:

Somewhat. One of the main reasons was that his wife could not transfer here and be assured of a posting in Inverness. She is/was a police officer and could have been posted to Shetland, Western Isles, Fort William etc and could have been worse off geographically than if she stayed in Dundee. There were other factors to do with the terms of the contract but geography was the main problem I believe.

I think Bobby is one of the few who is respected by the fans of a number of teams ... ICT, County, Dundee etc.
-
Indeed. Wish I could be there to pay homage to a true ICT legend, but hopefully I will make a game sometime this season and Barry will be on the park so I can applaud him.

Fraser Tokely Duff McGuire Hastings Cowie Black Duncan Imrie Rooney Barrowman Barry Wilson to come on for last 20 minutes or so, others would depend on how game was going, but if we are doing ok then perhaps Proctor, and maybe Vigurs.

Match losing error ? I guess you could ultimately call it that, but I wouldnt land all of it on one player's shoulders. It was a bad performance and the team lost the match. Duff made a mistake that cost a goal, our strikers couldnt finish - are their misses also match losing errors? - and the midfield couldnt give them much service ! blame all round. Having said that, I think your assesment of why he is getting a somewhat easier ride is fairly close to the mark. He is young, great things are expected of him based on what we have heard, and he was making both his first team and SPL debut. In the case of Zibi, some fans probably did go over the top but he is somewhat older and more experienced and also has a history of clangers that overshadows the good performances he can put in.
-
Its kind of inevitable as this was the main talking point of his performance. Other than the mistake, he seems to have acquitted himself no worse than anyone else on Saturday ... even if that is not saying much. I believe someone also mentioned that he got the sponsors MOM (can anyone confirm?) I think this is a fairly positive thread as most fans are agreeing that every player can make mistakes, no-one is crucifying him for it, and most agree he should retain his place. If the player himself were to read this then I am sure he would still be remorseful for his mistake but also encouraged that most fans will give him a little leeway this time as they are confident that he can add something to the team.
-
If Grant is out, then Duff has to start, end of story. He made a mistake on his debut and it cost us a goal. He is inexperienced, and **** like that happens in football. For the rest of the game he was as adequate as the rest of the team. Think back to our own debut in the SPL and there were 10 or 11 players who all made mistakes and one of our most experienced players cost us dearly .... Duff will improve and should not be dropped.

You seem to have a ton of vigils and visits, and more equipment than NASA, but the really spooky thing is that there never seems to be any photos or video from any of these events ..........

I am in two minds over this. IMHO, it is good to try and get some fringe players in for friendlies and see if they can do a job for you in the qualifiers, but every game, friendly or not is ranked by FIFA and if you put out an experimental team and lose, you slip down the rankings ......
-
subject to work permit - which he will get no problem. From my personal point of view, its a blow as he is an exciting young player and most Toronto fans were looking forward to seeing him develop at TFC before he inevitably moved to the Premiership (Aston Villa almost bought him last season after we played them in a friendly). He was excellent last year in a mediocre team and deservedly won the Young Player of the Year trophy (Rookie of the Year in MLS-speak). But this season he seems to have suffered what they call the "sophomore jinx" where a good debut season is followed by an average second season. quite a few TFC fans are saying its because his ego has exploded and he seems to spend more time on his website or facebook telling people how good he is but even an average Edu is still a decent player. More worrying is the fact that Mo Johnston, while not bringing in anyone to strengthen a struggling team before the transfer window closed last weekend, has, in the last two weeks overseen the departure of a couple of capable players in Jeff Cunningham (99 MLS goals) and now Edu. In the case of Edu, he seems to have actively recommended him to Walter Smith in a move that will strengthen Rangers but weaken his current team and that may well be the straw that breaks the camel's back for Johnston.

Frank Be thankful you can actually get something each week .... I would be !!!

attitudes like that are why we lost to Hamilton !!! We get rightfully pissed off when someone has that attitude about us, and have given teams a doing on the basis that we would show them we werent there just to make up the numbers .... Hamilton have already shown they are no Gretna and in fact are a decent hardworking and well put together team so what divine right do we have to win. We may have been rank rotten today, and despite my praise for them, Hamilton were not that much better. The only goal was the result of a mistake and unfortunately, thats just football. We do need to improve and I think Bronson is correct - consistency is one of our big problems (other than tactics that dictate a 4-5-1 at home) and initially I would like to see us do one simple thing, and one thing only, to help with that consistency ..... play the ball on the feckin deck !!!!! We ALWAYS play so much better when the ball is on the deck ... every supporter can see that, why can no-one else.

According to radio commentary, Duncan was carrying a slight hamstring injury before the game and by the end of the first half was struggling, hence the substitution. Do people read threads ?

Sportsound MOM is more accurate i think (normally) ... the stadium MOM is usually a home player and picked by a person or group who are well oiled from hospitality.
