We should be very afraid the next time Rangers come to town then ...... how many Tescos are in Inverness now :015: :015:

no apology necessary, I dont think you have anything to be sorry about !!! You have your opinion and everyone else has theirs - some will agree, some will not ... looking at your list again, I might say that I was being harsh on Jim Duffy too .... I am not a fan of Brown as I think he is boring (but has a decent record), Duffy would probably be ok as well and has been mentioned in the past, but Miller, Lambert and especially Alexander would scare me .... as far as I can see they have done nothing in management to warrant a position as manager of an SPL club. I remember going to Dumfries in the days when we played QOS on a regular basis and Alexander was boss there at the time. Most of the queens fans had nothing good to say about him and i doubt whether Gretna fans would say anything better .... Of the guys around at the moment I think that Yogi Hughes would be the best fit for our club. I doubt we would get him from Falkirk but if he was available and we were managerless then I think he would be worth a try. He has done a good job at Falkirk, a club that is of a similar size to us these days, and a club that also has similar cash constraints. He has a rapport with the fans (even opposition ones) because he gets a laugh and a joke with them but also wears his heart on his sleeve and talks straight in interviews, and he also has an eye for a decent player ... getting the likes of Stokes in on loan or realising that an old timer like Russell Latapy can still be effective if used sparingly. If Brewster is to stay, I would like to think he may try to be a bit more like Hughes. Pressley is an undoubted leader. He was a leader at Hearts and still exudes that aura since leaving them. I didnt realise he was involved in the coaching setup on the national team and that is what made me change my mind about him somewhat. He would be a risk as a manager as he has no club management experience but maybe his lack of experience could be offset by having an experienced assistant ...... At the end of the day though, Brewster is still in the job and I hope he will convert me (and many more of us) from undecided to a believer by proving he can build a team that can move forward rather than backward.

Roscoe, please dont take this thread off topic. opinions are fine and i dont give a toss whether they agree with my viewpoint or not. I am entitled to my own opinion and to ask a reasonable question of another poster to back up their statement. I have not abused the poster nor made any personal comments about them .... that would be abuse and it is such abuse that is not fine. You unfortunately seem to be unable to tell the difference. I find that somewhat surprising considering that you were complaining long and loud to admin when people were making comments about your occupation a few months ago and we (quite rightly) took your side. As for power - I couldnt care less about using it or not. I only do it when I feel I have to and most of the time I just leave it to the mods. now. back on topic. Mahonio - I think it is quite obvious from my postings in the last few months where I stand on Brewster ..... I was 100% anti-Brewster just a few months back, even moreso when I believed he treated a number of our players, especially Denzil, in a shoddy manner but yes I have softened my stance somewhat and am now firmly in the undecided category. I had the chance a few weeks ago on a trip back to Inverness to get some comments from a few trusted friends with excellent contacts and the stories they told me were somewhat different to what has been posted on here by other posters. I dont know who is right but these stories gave me a somewhat more rounded picture of what I believe to be the situation at the club. If they are true, then Brewster has been blamed for a lot of things that were not his fault or for changes he is trying to make that might be painful in the short term but may ultimately improve the club As I said, I dont know who is right, but think from now to Christmas will either make or break him. As for my choice to replace him were he to leave or be sacked then that would probably be John Hughes. I have also warmed to the idea of Steven Pressley based on earlier comments on this thread that rebutted my original idea about him.

and their list of achievements in management ??? With the possible exception of Craig Brown who was boring rather than crap, that list is extremely scary.
-
Roscoe23 - for someone who complained to admin about personal comments made about you a couple of months back, you seem to be contributing nothing to this thread other than personal abuse. You may think its banter, others dont see it that way. Please stop it or we will take steps to stop it for you via post moderation. If a particular poster bugs you you have the option of ignoring them ... far better for the rest of us than having to read through pages of playground bickering, pissing contests, and the inane drivel we see here more and more frequently from a small minority of posters !!!

on topic please - less personal insults.

I would have given him a year, but at Barry's age I guess a rolling six monthly deal is better for all concerned .... if he drops out of the team at some stage and doesnt figure in any plans then both he and the club can decide he can go elsewhere and there is no big fuss. By Barry's own admission he needed a "kick-start" to get back into the side and was sent to St Johnstone on loan, and the last time Brewster was here he had to lose weight to regain form so maybe Brewster is using the contract length to keep him motivated ...... However, I am glad he isnt going anywhere else as he still has plenty to offer the team (when motivated).

After seeing the pictures and footage, and reading the various articles about the trouble, I am now delighted that Rangers lost and hope it is at least another 36 years before they reach another final. Forget about them being Scottish, putting Scotland back on the map or lifting the co-efficient that is all now soiled. That performance by their so-called fans was utterly disgraceful and I would rather we had no teams in Europe than have those neanderthal thugs representing Scotland or Scottish football in any way shape or form. Utterly disgraceful. All they need now to complete their week is to come up with a few Tommy Burns jokes - as I am sure they will - that will just put a cap on a very bad week for Scottish football and show them up for the tosspots that they are. That looks pretty serious, the guy went spark out and by the end of the video he is still lying motionless with a lot of people around him. I wouldnt describe it as a "cracking" punch in the sense of "good" ... maybe in the sense of cracking the guys skull. Hope they can figure out who threw the punch and do him for serious assault/ GBH or whatever the charge would be in Englandshire.

would love to see your source the part I bolded in the above quote comes from the link I posted .... International Herald Tribune (which got it from a worldwide syndicated AP article) ..... Interesting to note in another article that Marica got injured yesterday and his participation is in doubt !! [SOURCE]

The "title" was bestowed upon her by fans who appreciated her efforts over the years in organising the buses to away games.

not sure about McCall ..... he did a decent job at Falkirk but couldnt hack it at Tannadice. a) He's heading towards the end of his career and has publicly stated he wants to go into coaching and management this summer b) He's already in the Scotland set up and I like George Burley as a manager. From what I read, he also held Hearts together during a difficult time. Needless to say, he has the leadership quality on the park (which would be useful as it is) and could possibly provide that off the park. fair response.

Again, to be fair to the club, these tickets are technically free .... and the U-8s will get first refusal on the OF ticket for their seat .... for me the only thing that really seems incongruous is the concession price with U8 ticket being 30 quid more than a concession ticket with a normal child one in the family enclosure ..... if the club change that so it makes sense then I think they will have presented an excellent offer, and one which most of us can't ***** about as we have been saying for years that kids are the club's future and they have finally done something to address that.
-
I really dont care ..... but I would prefer Rangers to win more than than Zenit .... mainly because they are a Scottish team (regardless of the loyalist/English arguments that can be raised), they will be putting Scotland back on the football map, and a win would also help other Scottish teams through the co-efficient.
-
There was no price increase last year so ?10 in 2 years isnt too bad The only thing I found a little strange was that .... An adult can get a season ticket with his/her U-8 child for a total of ?210 (1 x ?210 ticket & 1 x ?FREE ticket) However, a student or OAP concession (ie. perhaps an older sibling or a grandparent) would have to pay the same to get this deal but if they were savvy enough could instead opt to save themselves ?30 by buying the equivalent tickets in the family section for ?180 (1 x ?110, 1 x ?70) and also be eligible for old firm games !!! nice try ICT, very commendable effort, one that is to be applauded .... and applauded more loudly if you fix up the one minor wrinkle !!!

I would probably agree with Gringo and say Mann, Calder & Christie but would also agree with TM4TJ in saying its hard to pick 3 from the long list of players who have had an impact at the club. ..... maybe it should be McCulloch and Xausa as they were the other 2/3 of the trio that went to Livi with Barry :004:

Thought someone might have picked up on this by now, but the club released season ticket prices at 10AM this morning Copy of press release on front page: http://www.caleythistleonline.com/

Really? Had a quick look on the ICT Official site - nothing. No mention of a KO time in any of the "releases" on here. The man himself has the answer ...... [attach=1] picture courtesy of and copyrighted to Trevor Martin Photography BARRY_WILSON_TESTIMONIAL.jpg_thumb

I know we have a multi-page thread discussing Barry's testimonial but this is going in as a separate thread at the request of the club and the testimonial committee as they want as many of the "priority" groups to be able to get tickets before the deadline. A press release was issued today MAKE A BRIEF STOP FOR YOUR BRIEFS Tickets for Barry Wilson's Testimonial match against a Liverpool XI on August 18th went on sale yesterday to priority categories (season ticket holders, shareholders and members of the Supporters' Trust, the Supporters' Club and the Centenary Club) and sold extremely rapidly all day. Barry's Testimonial Committee are particularly concerned that people in these categories do not lose out on this opportunity to purchase tickets and are now urging them to claim their tickets as soon as possible. "People in priority categories are entitled to tickets over and above for their own use and during the day their has been a large uptake for extra tickets," said Testimonial Committee member Les Kidger. "I'm most definitely not being complacent and saying that this game is going to sell out, but if season ticket holders and priority groups, are looking for extra tickets we are definitely suggesting that they get down to the Caledonian Stadium or call the ticket office, as soon as possible to purchase them, especially if they want a number of seats together." Single tickets for season ticket holders are guaranteed until close of business on Saturday and all remaining tickets will then go on sale to the general public on Monday 19th. The match organisers have been overwhelmed by interest in the fixture ever since it was launched last Wednesday. "We are especially grateful to the staff at the Stadium who have been been of huge assistance to us in connection with this game which is clearly going to be a major occasion for football in Inverness ," said Les. Tickets are priced at ?15, ?7 for children and ?40 for a group of two adults and two children.
