  1. I have taken the last set of up to date stats i got from Ian Broadfoot and added our own figures from this year and come up with the following pieces of useless information ...... (i did it very quickly so may have made a mistake - let me know if you find one) most appearances ..... [attach=1] most goals ..... [attach=2] highest strike rate ..... [attach=3] most starts ..... [attach=4] most times as a sub ..... [attach=5] If my numbers are correct, the 6th goal scored on Saturday was the 1000th goal scored for ICT by an ICT player. As we know, Grant Munro scored ICT's 1000th competitive goal earlier in the season, but this also included own goals ...
  2. Priority 1 every season should be to avoid relegation. If we ever lose sight of that then we may just find ourselves in the mire. However, there is nothing wrong in aspiring to finish as high up as we can, or better still ... in the top six. We should also not be afraid to believe that we could also get into Europe via the cup.
  3. As footballer's wife would say .... K.I.S.S. ...... (keep it simple stupid) ..... format is good, easy to understand, and it should also be easy for whoever is administering it to keep the stats/scores. membership - should be restricted to whatever number competition admin decide is appropriate and priority given to those who took part the previous season(s). If - like me - you gave up part way through the season then maybe you should not get afforded any priority for taking part, but instead get some priority for your level of posts on the site. Once you reach the required number of participants, anyone else goes on the waiting list and those who drop out (by not predicting for 3 weeks in a row or perhaps 4/5 weeks in total) are replaced by someone on that list. If you are removed in this manner you get no priority the following season regardless of participation or posts ...... will do a little digging and see if we can do something that sets reminders on the new forum software. My biggest problem on a Saturday AM is that I am trying to do so many things for the game ahead that i always seem to forget this one ...

Barrowman is a risk ...... some risks pay off, some dont. Anyone who can score 29 goals in a season, even in Division 2 must have some natural goalscoring ability !!! Iain Stewart scored 29 times for us in Division 3 in 96/97 and a total of 73 times in three seasons spanning Divisions 3 and 2. Dennis Wyness is the only other player to come close with a total of 75 goals in three successive seasons in division 1. The risk we took with Rankin and Cowie was maybe less but both look to have paid off even if Rankin is now elsewhere. The risk of Imrie is still apparent but going from the early weeks where people were slating him to the last few weeks where he has now scored a couple of goals, contributed to a few more and generally played quite well, it seems most now regard him as having raw talent that can be nurtured ... Here is ICT's top scorers each season ..... 94/95 - Alan Hercher 7, Charlie Christie 6, Wilson Robertson 6 (DIV 3) 95/96 - Iain Stewart 24, Alan Hercher 12, Charlie Christie 12 (DIV 3) 96/97 - Iain Stewart 29, Brian Thomson 11, Scott McLean 9 (DIV 3) 97/98 - Iain Stewart 20, Brian Thomson 20, Barry Wilson 10 (DIV 2) 98/99 - Scott McLean 20, Barry Wilson 14, Duncan Shearer 13 (DIV 2) 99/00 - Paul Sheerin 17, Barry Wilson 16, Davide Xausa 10 (DIV 2) 00/01 - Dennis Wyness 26, Paul Sheerin 12, Davide Xausa 10 (DIV 1) 01/02 - Dennis Wyness 22, Paul Ritchie 20, Bobby Mann 7 (DIV 1) 02/03 - Dennis Wyness 27, Paul Ritchie 20, Barry Robson 13 (DIV 1) 03/04 - Paul Ritchie 23, David Bingham 17, Barry Wilson & Stevie Hislop 14 (DIV 1) 04/05 - Barry Wilson 10, Graham Bayne 7, Juanjo 6, Craig Brewster 5 (SPL) 05/06 - Craig Dargo 20, Dennis Wyness 11, Craig Brewster 6 (SPL) 06/07 - Craig Dargo 12, Graham Bayne 8, John Rankin 6 (SPL) 07/08 - Marius Niculae 10, Don Cowie 9, Dennis Wyness 7 (SPL)
  5. just for the record .... 2004/05 = 44pts 2005/06 = 58pts 2006/07 = 46pts 2007/08 = 48pts is the maximum available if we win our last 2 games !!! ... the things that happen when you let the club historian and statistician retire ;)

  7. i sometimes have a problem with my wireless keyboard at home ... and not just on this site .... at other times its just my fingers :004:
  8. some things might - like relaxing rules on standing, allowing flags or banners in designated areas (real areas not tiny little segregated ones) not sure that others would though as much of TFC's atmosphere comes from the fact that there are 20,000 in the stadium and small chants started by about 50 people spread There might be a little of that but as someone who sat in a group of 4 that contained two ex-Caley fans and two ex-Thistle fans I must say that this never stopped all four of us from singing/chanting/clapping
  9. .... What fecker stole my codpiece when i wasnt looking [as the tune of "word-up" plays in the background]
  10. If that is the case then Mike Smith can complain to us using the options available. He also knows my home and work telephone numbers as well as my home, work and website email addresses so can contact me directly if he so wishes. please refrain from back-seat moderating. Also - I believe the subject was "Do you still support Craig Brewster, and believe he is the right man to take the club forward?" .... so perhaps we can all get back on-topic !!!
  11. for my example, I have to revert to Toronto FC (again) Sections 112 - 117 of the south stand have been designated as the "supporters section" and people purchasing tickets there are told that they are liable to be in the middle of a section where singing, chanting and standing are expected, where flags and banners will be waved and where there will generally be a lot of noise. They are advised that if they want a 'quieter' experience where they can sit comfortably in their seats and not have their views obstructed temporarily by flags etc then they should consider other parts of the ground !!! The club have pretty stringent rules on what is and is not allowed in the whole stadium, but have relaxed them slightly in the supporters end (after discussions with the half dozen or so major supporters groups). This works really well and the south end of BMO field is a place that a lot of teams in MLS now comment on and the atmosphere generated is generally a bigger story than a certain Mr Beckham !!! Obviously you do get those who overstep the mark or try to push various buttons to get a reaction (just like on here :004:) but for the most part it is very enjoyable and because there is dialogue between club and fans the adherence to policy and 'self-policing' of those who dont is pretty good. I was actually shocked at how flat the atmosphere was for the recent ICT V Killie game .... perhaps it is because I have had a season of mayhem at BMO and dont remember how quiet it was, but it certainly seemed a **** of a lot more subdued than I remember it.

    Ian Vigurs

I was under the impression he came to us as a youngster when Elgin closed down their youth program a couple of years ago ???
  13. this is not a dig at Denzil ..... but I dont recall anyone ever denying Grassa's assertion that the agent tried to get more money at the 11th hour ..... As I said in my earlier post, I was very anti-Brew over this action and still dont think it was handled at all well but there is a lot more going on behind the scenes than most of us know about or will ever hear about .... egos, cliques, resistance to training changes, players who (allegedly) get to borrow the (ex) Chairman's car or who get tickets to see Man Utd ........ [and no, i am not talking about Marius] Its a tough time for us as ICT fans are not used to failure or regression but my gut feeling is that if we take a chance on Brew for another season we may well be rewarded. Sometimes you do have to take one step back to take two forward ..... I just hope its not the other way round and we take two steps back and none forward !!!
  14. thanks Charles - Fiona posted the same earlier in the thread so i guess it is now the joint fastest goal in ICT history.
  15. no-one was more vociferous in their Brewster Out comments than me when he withdrew the contract offer from Denzil ..... I am still not convinced that he is the man for the job but after being in Inverness and listening to the opinions of others whom I respect, as well as hearing a bit of expanded background information on some of the hurdles he has had to try and overcome since coming back to the club, I am now in the undecided camp. He may prove to be a spectacular flop and we will regret it, but on the other hand, if what I have heard is true and he manages to change certain things about the culture of (and within) the squad then he may turn out to be very good indeed. People have been mentioning Imrie a lot in the last few weeks and one thing that I did notice on my trip back was that during the Killie game he was constantly encouraging the player and making sure he was in the right position or covering the right man .... I think a lot of us think that Imrie is a raw talent .... and despite my pre-conceived ideas, it looked like Brewster was spending a lot of time during that game trying to nurture that talent ..... if he is able to do this with him and other younger players then that is a fairly large positive in my book.

    The Long Ball

K4rlo - I noticed this too when i visited a few weeks ago. Football is supposed to be about entertainment, about unwinding after a long week at a work role thats usually full of rules, about having a few beers with your friends and singing and chanting your head off ..... Its inevitable that you will get a few ******** who will try to spoil it or overstep the mark, but you weed them out instead of making everyone suffer. The authorities - whether they be police, politicians or clubs themselves are in danger of taking all the enjoyment out of the game and when thats gone you can forget about it .......
  17. The incident definitely happened at Love Street and unless Tokely has nailed Kerr twice, I think i got the right game ...... It is (was) unusual for a local referee to do a match involving a team from their own hometown and tended not to happen unless the match was a midweek cup game with lots of travel involved or the original ref called off at short notice for some reason. Cant see Kevin reffing an ICT game anywhere other than the TCS for one of the reasons mentioned above, and even then it would have been rare He is an EX referee. He was a "grade 1" ref so equivalent to the likes of Hugh Dallas, Kenny Clark etc and personally i think he was far far better than some of the clowns we have now. It also has to be noted that despite his grade 1 status you would often find Kevin at the bught or at culloden pitches refereeing amateur league games for the local association. A really nice guy and well wothy of having the enclosure named after him. I believe that he is the only referee (in Scotland at least) to have received a testimonial game.
  18. sounded to me as if it was Jud ? - whoever it was, he was doing Jim Spence's nut in as he was so loud ..... makes a change to actually be able to hear the announcer these days though as that was always one complaint levelled before !
  19. Kevin didnt ref that game - at least not according to Ian Broadfoot's records !!!! although to be fair, we did play them 3 times in 11 days and Kevin refereed one of the games up here so its easy to be confused. Colin Hardie reffed that game and gave Rossco a straight red. TUE 10th AUGUST 1999 CALEDONIAN STADIUM BELLS CHALLENGE CUP RD 1 INVERNESS CALEDONIAN THISTLE 1 (Teasdale 88) Fridge, Tokely, Golabek, Hastings, Mann, McCulloch, Teasdale, Stewart (Glancy 69), McLean, Christie, Sheerin (Robson 69) Sub - Shearer ST MIRREN 0 Roy, Nicolson, Kerr, Turner, Baltacha, McLaughlin, Murray, Drew (Mendes 64), McGarry (Lavety 55), Brown, Yardley Sub - Ross REFEREE ? G Mitchell ATTENDANCE ? 1374 A rather dull match with very few clear chances. Paul Sheerin netted the ball in 6 minutes but there had been a foul on the goalkeeper. Just when extra time seemed inevitable Christie weaved on the left then sent over a cross to the back post ? Teasdale was in the right place to head home the winner for Caley Thistle. Not a classic game but a satisfying win for the home side and a second round tie away against Hamilton. TUE 17th AUGUST 1999 CALEDONIAN STADIUM CIS INSURANCE CUP ROUND 2 INVERNESS CALEDONIAN THISTLE 2 (Sheerin pen 104, Byers 119) Fridge, Tokely (Byers 59), Golabek, Hastings, Mann, McCulloch, Teasdale (Robson 76), Bavidge, McLean (Stewart 101), Christie, Sheerin ST MIRREN 0 Roy, Nicolson, Kerr, Turner (Baltacha 117), McLaughlan, Walker, Murray (McGarry 108), Ross, Lavety, Mendes (Brown 108), Yardley REFEREE ? K Bissett ATTENDANCE ? 1238 MAN OF THE MATCH ? Stuart Golabek (ICT) For the second week in a row Caley Thistle beat St Mirren in a cup match. For 90 minutes the sides were well matched but in extra time the home side created good chances and deservedly won 2-0. In 104 minutes Charlie Christie was brought down in the box by Ross - Sheerin made no mistake with the penalty. St Mirren offered little after that and the game was sealed a minute from time when debutant Kevin Byers capped a fine display with a 12 yard strike into the net. Another long drive down the A9 for St Mirren with nothing to show for their efforts. SAT 21st AUGUST 1999 LOVE STREET, PAISLEY LEAGUE DIVISION 1 ST MIRREN 3 (Yardley 34, Walker 37, McGarry 40) Roy, Nicolson, Kerr (Brown 24), Turner, McLaughlin, Walker, Murray, Ross, Lavety (McGarry 18), Mendes, Yardley Sub - Baltacha INVERNESS CALEDONIAN THISTLE 2 (Sheerin 29 pen, Teasdale 86) Fridge, Tokely, Golabek, Hastings, Mann, McCulloch, Teasdale, Bavidge (McLean 75), Robson (Byers 75), Christie, Sheerin Sub - Glancy REFEREE ? C Hardie ATTENDANCE ? 3022 MAN OF THE MATCH ? Tommy Turner (St Mirren) SENT OFF ? Ross Tokely (ICT) For the third time in 11 days Caley Thistle faced St Mirren but they could not repeat their earlier victories. The Saints gained revenge with a 3-2 victory leaving the visitors pointless at the foot of the table. The match flared up in 21 minutes when a clumsy Tokely challenge on Chris Kerr led to tension amongst the players and a red card for the Caley Thistle player. A Paul Sheerin penalty gave the home side the lead in 29 minutes but Saints scored three before half time. Mike Teasdale made it 3-2 four minutes from time but the home side could not grab a point.

    Pizza!

The specialty ones in Tesco are pretty good .... whats the brand "Finer" or something like that ?? ..... but if you want real pizza, you cannot beat a chicago style pizza in chicago ... it has got to have the very best pizzas in the world.
  21. Mark McGhee looks like he just farted and is trying not to be blamed. either that or he is trying to pluck up the courage to ask the guy behind him if he is really Marti Pellow from WetWetWet and if so can he have his autograph.
  22. commentators seemed to think he was perhaps struggling with an injury just before being taken off ......
  23. mmmm - BBC and other sites listing at 37 seconds, official site listing it at 31 ........ wonder if it is joint fastest goal or second top ?
