I will happily condemn this as both moronic and racist behaviour and will go further and challenge those around the person to "name and shame". I would also hope the club take a leaf out of Motherwell's book and take quick and decisive action as it seems there is a cut and dried case here where multiple people heard this comment quite clearly. Given that the club almost barred a lifelong supporter for merely 'suspecting' the use of a racial slur - an accusation that was later confirmed to be false by numerous parties unconnected to the supporter - then I would expect the offender to be identified and dealt with very quickly and very publicly. I thought comments like this had ended with the cancellation of tv programs like "Love Thy Neighbour" back in the 70s !!! There is no room for comments like this at our stadium or within our support and I look forward to seeing our club not bury its head in the sand over this issue

I read the story online and got the impression that it was paid back early to allow the council to consider giving Eden Court the money. Unfortunately, the money the council would be giving Eden Court wouldnt come from the same place (CGF) so nice gesture though it was, it didnt help the theatre. However, I am sure someone else will now benefit from the early repayment of this loan ...... very cynical CD - dont think the new head of HIAL needs to grease palms in that way as he tends to 'do the right thing' quite naturally and has shown this time and time again (sometimes without publicity). Although I am sure he will not object if people have a better opinion of him and therefore give him less grief in the planning department !!!!

a few games is ok - the idea is to get as many people involved as possible. when we get closer to the new season, the idea will be to put up a fixture list for reports - if you know your going to a particular game you just put your name down for the main match report ....... if someone else is already doing the main one, then you can also think of supplying an additional one

As you will see from the front page article on the site, Ian Broadfoot, the official club historian and match reporter for the last 13 years has decided to retire at the end of this season. Statistically Speaking, Its the end of an era .... This gives us a bit of a dilemma in that we obviously want to supply match reports for every game but it is not always possible for myself or CaleyD to write them. I can only do it based on radio commentary, when it is available - which is now only about 30% of the time - and tends to be pretty subjective in comparison to being there. In CaleyD's case he isnt at every game because of work commitments. What we are hoping for is a few users to submit match reports on a regular basis and if possible others to supply them on an occasional basis. I see it working something like this .... We get a fixture list when it is published and agree who will do the main 'site report' for each game in advance. The user would agree to submit it on the day of the game or the morning after and other users could also submit reports for the same game if they wished but not under the same time constraints. whether we get 1 report or 10 reports we will publish them all (subject to suitability). We will be making some layout changes to the site at the end of the season and one new feature is the ability to submit a story for publication so this seems to be the ideal time to promote it and get you thinking about it !!! The match reports can be written in whatever style you wish but should be reasonably factual. Ian himself has suggested that any users interested in trying this might want to submit some reports for the remaining games of the season (where his reports will still be the main ones) and he will give advice if required. As anyone who has ever written a report knows, there is a certain style about them that is not quite as easy as it appears. They must be as accurate as possible (thus concentrating hard on the match is essential), set the scene before the game, avoid a blame culture, be biased towards us (but not stupidly so), record the consequences of the match result and highlight anything else of interest about the match (e.g. supporters in fancy dress etc). You also have to remember that the referee or any of the players/managers/chairmen (home and away) could read it as well as SFA/SPL officials so 'defamation' is not a good idea !! ok, so thats the job .... so whats the pay and benefits I hear you ask. Well basically, as we dont make any money from this site other than using ads to help pay our hosting and running costs, there is no payment or benefits for doing this other than the plaudits of your peers and our thanks !!!! However, if we do manage to secure a 'proper' site sponsor then we would look at giving a portion of any profit to those who assist in the running of the site. If you have a website or business we would also be happy to include a site banner for you within our 'site friends' rotation (thats the ads you see that change from Focus to Northsport to Supporters Trust etc)

Couldnt agree more. I would love to see Dargo stay but lets not forget that its a short career and he has to see whats on offer for what will probably be his last 'big' contract. If Notts Forest do offer him something it will certainly be out of our league in more ways than one and we should wish him well. I would be more concerned if he turned up playing for Falkirk, St Mirren or other teams that are at the same sort of size and level as us as we should be competing with them both on and off the park..

I left this thread open for a bit longer than I might as I felt that there were a few people who would want to contribute and for the most part they have. I think it is now time to close it and as suggested by a few 'draw a line under it'. However, before closing the thread, I want to just say a few things ... I am happy in the way the latter stages of this thread developed as I believe it is cathartic to have differences of opinion discussed out in the open in a rational manner. an open wound, although more painful, heals faster. I accept that many of our users will have diametrically opposed viewpoints and I frequently find myself agreeing with either end of the spectrum depending on the actual issue in hand -- i.e. praise where its due, criticism if its warranted and not constant praise or constant criticism. I accept that someone whose glass is always half-full (constant praise) and someone whose glass is always half-empty (constant criticism) will never agree but each of them are entitled to their viewpoint, and to post that viewpoint. Some will agree with them, some will disagree but both have an equal right to post. I cannot accept the current situation where an increasing number of threads seem to be degenerating very quickly into personal abuse. Agree with someone, disagree with someone thats fine, ask them to prove their comments or give examples if they make what you consider to be rash statements but please dont go over the line and start namecalling, telling them they have no life, are pathetic or all sorts of other things I found when I made a point of going through some recent threads last night to investigate. Its a fine line between 'assertive disagreement' and abuse and we (admin/mods) may have been guilty of not noticing a few people crossing that line with increasing regularity. We do our best to be as invisible as possible in our administration of each thread but from now on will have no problem in deleting, closing or moving threads or ultimately in imposing sanctions against those we feel have crossed the line. We would prefer the site and its users to be largely 'self-policing' with minimal interference from admin/mods but if that is not possible then we will take whatever actions we feel is best for the site as a whole. Users need to accept some responsibility too !!! If you post something bashing the club, team or manager be prepared for the backlash that will follow as we are all ICT supporters here (or most of us are) and many will disagree with you. Equally, if you have your head in the sand and can never accept that the club, team or manager makes mistakes then you too will get a backlash from some although it will probably come from less people as we all want you to be right even if we realise that you arent. However, irrespective of which 'camp' you fit into, unless you yourself are being abusive then you have a right to air your views without being subjected to abusive responses. If you feel that someone has overstepped the mark in any particular thread you have a number of things you can do. 1. You can politely comment in the thread that you feel they have crossed the line and hope they apologise or 'calm down'. 2. You can email or message one of the admins/mods and we will review the thread or comments 3. If you find a particular poster is doing your head in every time they say something then you can put them on ignore !!! Anyway ... A bit of a dilemma perhaps, but personally I would choose country every time !! I am proud to be Scottish and would crawl over broken glass in a pair of speedos to represent my country at any sport if I was good enough. However, I can also see the other side of the coin .... Although it is an honour to play for your country it doesnt pay the bills whereas playing for your club week-in and week-out does pay the bills. Its a shame that this debate even exists but I can understand clubs who are reticent to release players for some of the more 'meaningless' games as it is them who are left to pick up the pieces and keep paying the wages if a player is injured as the insurance the national bodies take out will seldom cover all the expenses associated with injuries/rehabilitation for the very top players if something were to happen.

Silence is indeed golden if you live outside the UK when it comes to audio coverage of about 70% of SPL matches. There is no legal way to listen to many games and unfortunately, I havent come across any other ways either !! Apart from a couple of comments, I havent really said anything about the Rangers game because I couldnt see it, couldnt hear it and to be honest although happy with the result turned off Radio Scotland (where I had listened to Falkirk's game) soon after the roundups because I just couldnt be arsed - no coverage = no atmosphere = no interest.

I also voted no. As Libero said - both parties have had a good deal. Dods got his career back on track and we got a good quality centre-half who was also a leader. Hopefully he will leave ICT with no-one thinking badly of him as he gave us as much as we gave him. If Caff is in the plans for next season then there is no time like the present for him to be given a regular starting slot. If he plays well, like he did at the weekend, then we know we have options for next season, if he doesnt cut it then we know we need to look around. The same may also be true for the likes of Richie Hart who also had a good game. Some have suggested that he might be on his way out, but as with Caff, if he can prove he is not ready for the scrapyard yet then he also gives us options. The only place I would stick with it is up front. Dargo has to play whether he is staying or going. With Wyness still injured and McSwegan and McAllister not setting the heather on fire then it will be Dargs or possibly Bayne who score the goals that hopefully get us up as high as seventh and the extra money that brings.

what ever side you are on .... and that is the crux of the problem. :017: At the end of the day, I think we are all on the same side, or we should be as ICT supporters. However sometimes those who hold beliefs at either end of this spectrum clash and rather than having a reasoned debate it degenerates into slaggings and both 'sides' are as guilty as each other. We as administrators/moderators are caught in the middle. We dont want to 'censor' reasoned debate because we were accused of this on an almost daily basis when the site was official but by the same token we dont want people to feel they cant post without being taken to task for their opinions (regardless of what end of the spectrum they come from). so what are we to do ....... I think myself and CaleyD maybe need to have a look at the 'posting rules' and see if there is a need to clarify some of them. We also need to ensure that they are applied fairly so that a 'positive poster' abusing a 'negative poster' is dealt with in the same way as the reverse scenario. It might hurt a few people, and we might lose some if the rules are tightened up but in the long run it may make for a better forum where verbal abuse is the exception rather than the norm.
