According to the Courier, we weren't accepted for a Colt side because of tight fixture scheduling, and we can give it a shot if there's still a gap in the table next season...

That completely contradicts the same persons quotes in the press and journal who said that due to rule and legal issues regarding our youth team potentially being promoted if they won the league that there was no appetite or mechanism in place for our colt side to be permitted into the league. The same person then went on to say that banks of dee showed a lack of ambition by rejecting an invite to join the league.

  2. Chairman of the highland league threw his teddy outbofbthe cot with his comments after banks of dee declined robbo on the league. It doesn't exactly make teams want to jump at the chance to join a patients thinks it's above the junior game.

A meaningless fixture against a highland league team will not do anyone any good,  clearly.

The HL team will not want to get any injuries to players in what is basically a kick about  so there will be no real intensity - and this level of competition is no use for our youngsters, it would barely be enough for rehabbing injured players.

I doubt they would be that happy to pay players for these games either as it's not really going to draw much of a crowd either is it?

Aye because the highland league gets huge crowds. It's about fitness and development. Any game is better than no game and both sets of players would want to prove their worth.

Was this helped by cheating at the TCS and the fact they had a goalkeeper? :tongueincheek:

It was also helped by some very dodgy officiating, where similar incidents in their game last night were dealt with conpletley differently.

Care for a wager my man St Mirren will beat them they were on a decent run of form and Utd have a tendency to bottle big games

They didn't bottle the big games against us last week

The amount of negativity on this board towards OFW is unnecessary. The guy has done nothing wrong other than honour the contractual terms he was given and mutually agreed with the board at the time.

Really. Apart from feining injury Every time he isn't out on loan to an American team.or for playing for Wales.

Can they not take Fôn Williams instead. He's a financial burden on our part, and they're looking for a goalie. It's a win win situation...

He's out of contract with us now so no longer on our wage bill.

Feeder club ? Bigger clubs and those with bigger budgets sign players all the time. The fact that clubs are looking at this level for talent locally should be no surprise. Perhaps we need to be looking too at HL, SPFL lower leagues as well as wider.

The perception of Inverness in the mainstream media does little to help attract new players given the portrayal as some frozen wilderness beyond the central belt where folks still take a horse and cart to work and await the invent of colour, couple that with our minimal fan base and apathy shown by most of the city its a hard sell. Bearing in mind travel and accessibility is poor (main road links are outdated), property and living costs are not cheap - so given the wages we can offer anyone but young players with little ties and willing to take the plunge to prove themselves are unlikely to be affordable or want to move - so its inevitable if these players do well they will be hunted by bigger prey.

Given the title I was hoping this was going to look at options to tie in better with the local community, youth groups and even HL to use them as feed clubs for ICT to capture better and more young talent.

Inverness will soon have the new a9 dual carriageway connection to the central belt and cost of living is far smaller in inverness than on the east coast.

If we don't currently have any targets for LB then I may be inclined to offer McHattie a year's extension.

I'm not sure Robbo and the club will be rushing to offer many of the 2020 players contracts right now and possibly waiting to see what Donaldson and Walsh decide to do but it would be good to see McCart the next player offer an extension.

I suspect they'll wait and see who we manage to bring in before making any decisions.

You wouldn't want to sign Doran on a longer contract?

  10. He scored one good goal. That sums ups his contribution during his time with us. Other than that he was inconsistent, slow and regularly mid placed passes. Easily replaced.

Steady on he's big boots 2 fill in pollys the man was playing like 12th tier football for Morpeth! Don't get these wildcard gambles of signings there's plenty tried and tested players at this level with in our budget would much rather have seen Telfer or Higginbotham come up look at Cove going in for Fyvie that's the kinda players get u promoted

Cove have also got significant financial backing from Balmoral group. Who like Brora did in the highland league a few years ago can offer well paid careers outside of football as well as good footballing wages. Something we can't.

Robbo will be in trouble for his radio interview.  Called the 4th official a liar and said he was no longer going to stand for the the attitude and incompetence of officials.  Earlier on the commentators were saying he was a class act by the way that despite the disappointment, he took the time to congratulate all the Utd players and applauded their supporters.  Well done Robbo!  Needs to be said.

Refs are over protected their needs to be some form of transparent assessment of match officials in their performance. It doesn't help that no one gets to criticise them when they have so much influence over such important games. Robbo is bang on calling them out.
