If people are suggesting that he has to adapt his game to the SPL while playing in the centre, it is no different for if he plays out wide. In the St Mirren game when he started out wide it seemed that Golly was trying to get forward whenever possible, which gave Rankin no chance but to drift inside but when he did get into the final 3rd out wide he always looked capable of putting in a cross, or as he showed, setting up a goal. He would have more freedom on the left wing and it would be better for him to play there and get his confidence, we have more than enough cover in the centre of the park but at the moment (infact, since Robson left) nothing seems to be coming from the wide left. Centre mid might be his preferred position but at the moment I don't think we have a better option
  4. couldn't get tickets no happy :008: :008:
  5. Looking forward to it! +2/3

When did we sign Ferguson Harry? :015: :015: :015: Wilson!! I obviously have the up coming Scotland game in my head

He has played on the left for 1 GAME!!!

You got all this from 1 game?? He could drift inside for 88 minutes in match as long as he makes 1 of those killer passes that he made for Dargo. You can't really expect a player making his debut for a club to strike up a partnership with any player on the pitch. IMO he is one of the most technical players we have next to Barry Ferguson Wilson and although his crossing is sometimes hot & cold he is more likely to deliver a decent ball than McBain and seems to have more pace and skill than Morgan. I think one of the major reasons the team hasn't gelled in midfield this season is that CC has McBain & Rankin's positions the wrong way round. That will come with confidence, when he gets one goal the rest will follow

"It was thought the arrival of Rankin in July would solve the problematic position on the left-hand side of midfield given the 23-year-old had played their various times during his three-year stint with local rivals Ross County." "He can play on the left-hand side, but if you put him out there then you lose his natural energy in the middle of the park where it is best utilised. Players like John and Roy McBain offer us a bit of flexibility in that they can play out left, plus we also have Alan Morgan, who I'm now really looking at to take the next step and stake his claim for a place in the team." from the Courier article I know what you are saying RIG but the one game that Rankin did play out wide he showed how effective he can be by setting up a goal for Dargo, surely he has got to be our best option out left at the moment!!

What sounds like a good idea? Playing Rankin on the wing?? - I have to agree, for his crossing if not anything else!!
  11. Definately could do a job for us, hopefully Parkie might come in useful and tempt him up North. Would be a perfect signing for the fact he can cover left wing aswell as play upfront get him signed!!
  12. I started a thread about the same thing on PnB but with Quashie missing the game at the weekend because of injury he is one of the few players in the sqaud with any real experience. I'd expect a 5-3-2 with: Gordon Daily Caldwell Pressley Weir Alexander Fletcher Ferguson Hartley McFadden O'Connor/Boyd
  13. always 1!! yeh someone else pointed it out on PnB. I pasted it from the SFA site so blame them
  14. It is not as though you are no longer permitted into the stadium for the game. Really the situation is, they have given you 5 weeks notice that a game will be played on a Monday instead of a Saturday (no different from when a game is usually postponed due to a European fixture) and just in-case you can't make the match you have the chance to watch the game live on television... they should be wearing ski-masks!! Can't really disagree with any of that. As I've said already it's not at all ideal at the moment but as much as I hate to say it Sky Sports and the EPL have showed that it does work. It is down to the SFA to produce a product that a company like Sky (who seem to care about the leagues they invest in) will invest serious money into and that's simply not going to happen when there are only 12 teams in our Premier league. :008: :008: :008: :008: I don't appreciate you trying to twist my words, if Gringo thought I was insulting him or trying to rub it in his face (which I wasn't) I'm sure he is more than capable of telling me that himself. I was just explaining the simple fact that the club or any business infact caters for the majority - that's just the way things work I'm afraid. I am in no way trying to suggest he is any less of a fan, infact with the amount of work he puts in on this website each week with his prediction league I'm sure he puts in more effort than most.

    Christie's reply
  16. Much like myself, you are one of the worst for complaining that behind the scenes the club isn't up to a decent standard, so it's not just on the pitch that the club needs the extra revenue for. If we are going to atract new fans, what better way to do it than by broadcasting an occasional match here and there??? It is the way things are and it's not going to go back... so the only way to move forward is to work with the current situation. Gringo I understand it must be a major hassle for you having to book flights etc. but the club has to first and foremost work in favour of the majority who live around and about Inverness.
  17. Did anyone else feel that Dods' celebration was a wee bit excessive considering he has been tipped to leave the team?? I thought he was going to rip down the net!! It's good to see him showing so much passion, just shows he does care about the club!! The highlights showed us having plenty of chances and Rankin's miss wasn't half as bad as people are making out. Bayne looked like a menace and linked well with McCallister it seemed....
  18. To be fair, it's not as though you have not been given plenty of notice about the change in date for you to change your plans. If I was in Inverness or stayed around the area I wouldn't be too bothered but living in Stirling at least now I have the oppertunity to watch the match on TV and put some cash aside for another match. The club gets TV revenue to make up for any missing fans, fans can save money and go to the next match, yes there might be less people at the stadium but lets face it I think our players are used to playing infront of a lack luster support these days!!
  19. Get rid of tv coverage and you loose sponsership money, tv revenue & players that want their performances broadcasted to the world!! You have to balance these things but fundimentaly I think it still comes down to us needing a 16 team league. If the league is extended then we're more likely to get a good tv deal, leading to teams being able to afford class players that people will make an effort to come to matches.... as sad as it is the reason Scottish football is in such a dire state is because there isn't enough money floating about the divisions and until something is done about our league no one is going to invest anything into any other team but the OF. so yeh I agree with Bonzo aswell :010: :029:

    Agree with the last 3 posts!! :clapping04: :clapping04: :clapping04:
  21. we're also 3 points of 4th The difference is that Christie hasn't gone round saying how he expected the team to be competing with the top 2, I mean fair enough high expectations show ambition but try and be slightly realistic

Rory had to come on for someone and if Dargo wasn't producing the goods then maybe he was right to hook him. I've always been under the impression that if you aren't getting the service then you work harder and Dargo seems to be doing the opposite. I missed the game yesterday but against Killie in particular he looked lethargic and could have easily bagged a couple more goals if linked onto one of Bayne's head flicks, I'll agree that our midfield are not producing the goods at the moment but Dargo isn't blameless
  23. Harry Chibber replied to a post in a topic in Caley Thistle
Dargo has been on poor form for a while and that is no one elses fault but his own. Last season when he scored a lot of goals you would see him chasing lost causes and hassling defenders to create oppertunities, this season unless the ball is delivered on the exact spot that he wants it he wont bother his erse. We need all 11 players on the park giving their all and just because Dargo has a good record from last season doesn't mean he has the right to be in the team. How you can criticise Charlies subs anyway is baffling considering that McCallister and Zander came on created oppertunities and Rossco scored - is that not a stroke of genius??
  24. Harry Chibber replied to a post in a topic in Caley Thistle
Yeh the same age but Rory has already had a couple of seasons on the bench and a taste of first team football, while Zander is still young in terms of exposure to the main squad
  25. Absolutely Priceless!!!
