In 1980, Knox became assistant to Alex Ferguson at Aberdeen, helping the team to two Scottish Cups, the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup and subsequent European Super Cup in his three years with the Dons. In 1983, Knox returned to management with Dundee, where he would spend two-and-a-half years. A short spell back at Aberdeen followed, before following Ferguson to Manchester United in 1986, where he stayed until April 1991. Its there in black and white , thanks for that . as assistant! that's what he's best at.

Based in Aberdeen for a while I had the opportunity to see Richard Byrne first hand on many occasions. Although not a favourite with the Aberdeen fans, in my opinion, he is the kind of player every team could do with. Why? He always gives 100%- even when he misplaced a pass and was getting abuse from certain setions of the crowd he wouldn't hide on the pitch and gave his all. He has character by the bucketload and I for one think he's a good signing. Plus-and this is FACT -He is as hard as nails and makes even Tokely look like a jellyfish when it comes to 50/50 challenges. If he gain regain the consistency he displayed at Dunfermline he will be an asset. Could end up being a cult hero. All the best Richie!

John Beaton is a smashing chap, but he has a good pensionable job with the Council lighting. Do you really think he would give that up to be Director of Football with the most promising team in the top echelon of Scottish Football?

John was manager of Caledonian in the Highland League which to my mind is senior football. He has a vast knowledge of senior football and playing systems. He compiled dossiers on opposition teams in first division for Steve Patterson. Ask anyone in Inverness who they'd rather have as DOF - Grassa or JB.
