  1. http://www.dumbartonfootballclub.com/playe...rhead270310.flv A great Ronaldinho-esque goal from Bavidge too.
  2. Surely it has to be Davie Irons? His record with Gretna must be absolutely stinking.
  3. Not one little bit! Going to miss Div. 1 next season, ;) I totally agree with Joe however, it is vital to the club that we do go up.
  4. The unfortunate thing about this is that they do have a captive market and to an extent, as a result of this, can get away with serving up a sub standard product at an inflated price. The only way to really make them sit up and take notice is if everyone ceased to use this service until such a time as they do address these issues properly, the fact is that as long as people are handing money over the counter they could not care less how happy we are. I like the idea of leasing out each individual catering space to the highest bidder, thus creating competition and forcing the companies involved to be competitive in their pricing and in quality. Imagine being able to walk round to the outlet in the terracing one week for a Harry Gow Pie and cream bun and the next week going to a van beside the main stand for a baked tattie or some home made soup.
  5. Couldn't agree more, Russell was brilliant yesterday. Duncan Esson Hayes

I will be the first to admit that i haven't always been a massive fan of Russell but this season and the end of last season i think has seen him play his best football for the club. He was our stand out player yesterday and gives 100% in every game where at times it seems that others aren't, his natural aggression and commitment are exactly the qualities we should be looking for in a captain. On the flip side Grant is having probably his worst season yet, he was terrible yesterday and i can't recall the last time i seen him have a decent game. It pains me a little saying this as i do like the the guy, he's a local lad, great servant and all the rest of it but all that doesn't help drive the team or win matches. Obviously changing the captain at this point would disrupt the team and possibly affect it adversly, i would however like to see Russell given the armband next season.

    Pathetic!
  8. Munro! Are you having a laugh?
  9. Hope they get humped.
  10. I'm not convinced Denmark and Portugal is any harder than Spain and the Czech. There was only a slim chance of us qualifying for this one being in Seed 3 and i think we needed someone like switzerland as 2nd and england as our top seed. Hopefully we can at least perform well to get the rankings up for the next World Cup I think that is an all round harder group though, Cyprus performed well in The World Cup Qualifiers and Iceland are by far the best team from their pot.
  11. Could have been a lot worse, just glad we never got pulled out the hat for Group H - now that is a hard group.
  12. Let's hope we get favourable draw for a change!
  13. Exactly, it is not better to at least have someone scoring against the "diddy teams" than against nobody at all?
  14. This one? Unless you can read something I can't. One poster made a topical joke and another enquired about the club being grateful enough to recompense volunteers with matchday tickets. So what? That's my point exactly, why shouldn't somebody be compensated for giving up their free time to help clear the stands/pitch rather than have somebody jump straight down their throat just for enquiring about it? I'm not reffering to just this post but it looks to me that on this forum that there's a lot of "one upmanship" running through it at times, it seems that sometimes it's almost impossible for people to comment on anything without risk of it being hastily followed by some sort of snide remark. I hope anyone who is good enough to turn up to help get the stadium ready for Saturday is rewarded with a free ticket, i know times are hard at the club right now but it would cost them a lot more if the game had to be posponed and replayed midweek.
  15. Folk can say what they like about him but his scoring record is nothing short of pheonominal. He would be the 1st name on the teamsheet for me.
  16. Are there ever any threads on this forum that don't descend into a total bitchfest/"i'm a bigger fan than you" type scenario?
  17. Can you explain what you mean by that? All seems fairly self explanatory to me.
  18. Wasn't at the game on Saturday but to hear things like this utterly sickens me. These sort of people who follow Caley Thistle nowadays are an utter disgrace and are nothing short of embarrassing. As far as i'm concerned Barry is by far the greatest player who has ever donned the red and blue of Caley Thistle and if the t*****s who were venting this sort of bile on Saturday can't see this or appreciate what he did while he was at the club then why don't they spend their Saturdays doing something more constructive like deciding which part of their acne ravaged faces are most deserving of a good splodge of clearasil. It's a long time since i was a regular attender of away games and the reason for that is the now underwhelming minority of moronic cretins who embarrass the club by behaving like this wherever they go. I'm sure these are the same sort of people who i am forced to sit amongst at home games whilst they whine and moan their way through 90 minutes, constantly berating anybody in the team who performes anywhere less than Lionel Messi on a good day.
  19. I cannot actually believe what i have just been reading on this thread. I am utterly dumbfounded that more than one person has taken time out of their day to pass comment on such a trivial, inane, non event of an incident. Why does this seem to bother some people so much? The fact of the matter is he was only there because he is an ex international footballer which fits in nicely and is relevant to the occasion of Champions League Football, not the fact that he is the manager of a team in the Scottish First Division.
  20. WELL SAID!!!! :029:

Unfortunately i will be missing tomorrows game as i'm away on holiday but i think Barry and Denzil will both get the warm reception that they both deserve. Just a pity Brewster hadn't fecked off a bit earlier and they would probably still be playing for us. Hope they both play excellent in a convincing home win. :029:
  22. Twice actually; Ross County 1-3 Partick Thistle 2-3 Both at home. We wont get promotd or anywhre near the top of the league unless our home form drastically improves. I agree that playing one upfront at home is stupid and has only worked once to my knowledge and that was against Celtic when we came from 2-0 down to win 3-2. Unbeaten when Golly has been in the team though. :(

Completely agree with ictchris, would also like to see McBain in there instead of Eagle but i too can't see it happening.
  24. He never gave one away yesterday, but was saved by the woodwork. If he continues passing the way it was yesterday, and the way the rest fo the defence is just now, he'll be at fault for a few goals this seasons. Is he the best left back ICT have? No sure about that. A reckon Shinnie is better, as is McBain for my liking. I must admit i've been very impressed by what i've seen of Shinnie so far although i think the experience Golly can add to the team far outweighs the potential that Shinnie has at this moment in time. Golly is still an excellent player and still has a lot to offer the team, he's only 34 for feck sake which these days isn't old for a player-especially in the 2nd tier of Scottish football, on top of that he looks far fitter now than when he left us for Dingwall. I haven't been to any away games yet this season but by all accounts he's done very well against Partick and Morton. I wish our 'fans' wouldn't be so quick to come down on players after one or two bad games and our manager a couple of months into a season with a shadow of last years squad where, lets remember-we've lost only one game so far this season.
  25. Oh no? He did that twice yesterday. Did you not see the game? Anyway, if you're convinced he is the best we've got, then we do have problems. But to be fair, he is not alone. There are two or three others who are not worth their place imo, Bulvitis, Sanchez and question marks over Cox, Eagles and Proctor. Like you said at the top of this thread you have only seen him play on 2 occassions this season, aren't you jumping the gun a bit????
