Under 20s
I see it's not at Dalbeattie Star's ground at all, it's actually at Newtongrange Star's New Victoria Park. My mistake, got my "Star's" mixed up!

The game he's referring to is an away match, which I think'll be played at Dalbeattie Star's ground.

Gordon Strachan (Scotland manager)
History seems to suggest he's rubbish without money. For that reason I won't be holding my breadth. He's a horrid little man as well. Apparently as well, Lagerback's expressed an interest in the job. Ridiculous not to look at him, his record at international level is pretty strong. Strachan's is non-existant.

Merger Talk
What was the deal with Clach and the merger? I'm sure they were involved in the negotiations at some stage and then pulled out (something to do with them having a bit of a resurgence in the early 90s). How close were we of seeing Inverness Clachnacuddin Caledonian Thistle?

Butcher to Barnsley? Terry stays put***
I read somewhere that Barnsley offered him £10,000 a week!

Merger Talk
Indeed County are also a merger, as can be seen in my signature. In addition to this, despite claims he no longer visits this site, Birdog has stolen my signature and using it on P&B!

Didn't Bobby Mann leave Formartine at the end of last season? He might still be assistant there mind.

Butcher to Barnsley? Terry stays put***
I wonder if Maurice Malpas was the real key here. Had the answer been an outright no, I feel that we would've known far sooner than we did. The footage of Butcher at the airport, seemed to suggest a man still unsure about what his future really would be. There's been rumours in the past that Malpas has stood in the way of Butcher attempting to get other jobs (Aberdeen was one I heard, though I have no idea on its authenticity). I believe that this may well have been the case here. Butcher's made it clear to Barnsley that he'd want to take Malpas with him, they've offered him the job and explain Malpas's terms, so Butcher's gone back to tell him. Malpas looks at is, and for whatever reason doesn't fancy it. I wouldn't at all surprise me if this is actually more Malpas's decision than Butcher's - and I'm glad he's made the right one. One other thing though has crossed my mind. Would things have been different had Doncaster and not Barnsley come in for him first? To be fair to Barnsley, they don't exactly have a lot going for them. They're stranded at the bottom of the league, have just lost one of their main players and the first candidate for the job turned them down despite being unemployed. While they may be a bigger team, with a bigger support, a bigger budget and in a better league, Butcher would have been a fool to take that job. Despite this, he admits himself that it was a different decision to make and had ICT not been on such a high, his decision may well have been a different one. Doncaster though like ICT, are on a high. Arguably, a promotion with them would look better than saving Barnsley from the drop and should he keep in the Championship the next season, Butcher could look back and say that leaving ICT was the right decision. It could be said as well that achieving success at Doncaster, despite being in the lower league, would be an easier task and done far more prominently than it would be at Barnsley. Who knows, they may still come in for him yet and we go through this whole process again. I just wonder though, had Doncaster come in first, then the outcome may well have been very different. Just over ten years ago, Steve Paterson turned down a lucrative deal with Dundee United to stay at ICT. He and Duncan Shearer then agreed a new deal that would keep them to club for the next five years and proclaimed that there was still a lot of work to be done. One month later they were gone. Terry Butcher has claimed that he will be here for at least the length of time left on his current contract. I hope he keeps to his word.

Butcher to Barnsley? Terry stays put***
What's the deal with that stupid site? Having to click different answers to see the replies? What a load of rubbish! Why yes. Yes it is. hearts are a much bigger club than barnsley, robbo was never going to turn them down aberdeen and pele too? I think the contract offered to him by Dundee United was a lot bigger, but I could be wrong.

Butcher to Barnsley? Terry stays put***
Cant agree with you , I'd have thought if he was staying put he would have politely told Barnsley to GTF by now . And we would know. Agreed. If it was a definite "no", then he would've told Barnsley at the time.

Butcher to Barnsley? Terry stays put***
Sounds to me like he's been offered the job and is keen but it's all his backroom team. Sounds like if Malpas says yes then they'll both go. I doubt Butcher will go without him, so it could well be all down to Malpas now.

Butcher to Barnsley? Terry stays put***
It's been shown time and again that ICT do better under managers that play the ball on the deck. Any long ball candidate (no matter how big a profile they have) are best avoided.

Butcher to Barnsley? Terry stays put***
Eh...no thanks. Was there not talk of that when the Aberdeen job last came up? Seem to recollect some rumours at the time that Butcher was keen but Malpas wanted to stay here.
