  1. Roy is ancient, well 37 years ancient this November, as is Golly. Russell Duncan - Date of Birth: 15.09.80 makes him still 30 years old, just a loon. Rossco - Date of Birth: 08.03.79, he is just over 32, maturing nicely. Still plenty of life left in Russells legs and Rossco will fit in at Centre back, Roy is superfit, but Golly must be on his last legs surely.
  2. The Duncan enigma, one of lifes great unsolved mysteries I suppose. He certainly has the passion for the club that is missing in others and won't hide, regardless. It looks grim for him though, always the fall guy when Butcher changes things around, so no surprise if he were to be given his jotters. Shame really, as he would also be on my shortlist for the team.

  4. Inverness looking to keep Dons in check. Terry Butcher's lads will be doing their utmost to ensure Aberdeen remain below them in the SPL this season. The Dons have been on a mini revival since Craig Brown took over and he has eased them just out of harms way in the relegation battle. Inverness sprinted ahead of Aberdeen in the first half of the season but the long cold winter months slowed the process down and Aberdeen have closed the gap somewhat although they remain nine points behind the Highlanders. Inverness have a game in hand (Celtic), but going by the form book, that should be discounted. However, we tend to make life difficult for Celtic up here so it's possible that we could take advantage of the extra game and ensure the Dons are not going to catch us in the last four games. Wedneday 4th May for that one, 6:00pm. We enjoyed an ultimately comfortable win away from home on Easter Monday, thanks mainly to the profligate Perth strikers. Chances came early for the Saints but a combination of poor finishing, the woodwork and Ryan Esson (not necessarily in that order), saw Inverness take advantage and run out convincing winners. Three well taken goals from the soon to depart Chris Innes, Aaron Doran and the Duracell Bunny that is Richie Foran made life easy for Butchers boys and boosted the goal difference. Aberdeen have had a miserable season by their own high standards, culminating in the 9-0 humiliation at the hands of champions elect Celtic, followed a month later with Hearts going nap at Tynecastle. In stark contrast, they handed out a 5-0 drubbing of their own to one of the surprise packages of the season, Kilmarnock. The difference between the teams this season is highlighted by the goal difference stats. Inverness on +4, Aberdeen -20. So, difficult choices being made up and down the country this weekend. Bask in all the glory of the Royal wedding, or go and watch a game of footie. It's no easy. I know Aberdeen have not been setting the heather on fire recently, with no wins in six games, but pleeeeeeeease. If davie has not cycled off down to Westminster Abbey, you know what he's like, anything for a garden party, he will give us the low down on the last meeting between these sides this season. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Here we go, another meaningless end of season kick about with nothing at stake, this time in the granite city. Substitute fair for granite, and we said exactly the same about what turned out to be an entertaining and enterprising victory for ICT on Monday night in Perth. Both St. Johnstone and Aberdeen vie for contention as our nearest geographical rivals, but Aberdeen somehow have that greater claim being our former landlord and the “old glory” of north football. It took until this year to record the first of two victories against the Dons, the last being the 2-1 affair at Pittodrie that resulted in Mark McGhee collecting his coat after a tenure that was near grounds for suicide for Dons fans but such a lot of fun for the rest of us, especially given that 18 meetings have resulted in only 3 ICT wins. Since being taken over by granpa broon they have steadied, achieving the mediocrity this year that we all know them capable of. Their last point of any description was against Hamilton, arresting a run of 5 games without a win - nearly as bad as the much maligned McGhee. ICT on the other hand are hitting the form that graced pre-Christmas, with only 1 loss in our last 5 matches. Aberdeen are, according to their website, missing Paul Hartley, Rory McArdle and David McNamee, Andrew Considine being a mere doubt. It is difficult to see Jamie Langfield appearing either, after his being clobbered by Zander Diamond last week, and ending up looking like an extra in fight club. ICT are, to our misfortune, will be missing Richie Foran. Simply brilliant on Monday night, he will be a big miss. On the other hand, we might not have to play four centre backs as Duff and Tokely return. Hayes, Proctor, Shinnie and Sanchez remain kidnapped by aliens, Gil Blumenshtein may well be one who has returned his world of origin - his invisibility is stunning. There are mutterings of a “ruthless” cull in the close season at TCS, so many of those on display tomorrow might be literally playing for their futures. For others, it might already be too late so if you like this vintage ICT side, get the next few games in - there might not be many more. So, after the spring sunshine wedding extravaganza, even Aberdeen has a sunny forecast for the morrow. Better wrap up though; it’s Aberdeen, it will be Baltic. Prediction: Aberdeen 1 ICT 2. That's what davie reckons. Other SPL News:- There is no noteworthy SPL news this weekend because all the reporters have been seconded to Royal Wedding duties, but................................................................... Walter Smith has said that the sectarian songs must stop.............hallelujah, (and that's not an easy word to spell). Tell that to the stewards and the SFA who do nothing about it week in week out. Mob rules methinks. In the wake of Rangers fans being banned from attending an away fixture in Europe, plus add ons and top up's, in fact, you would be better employing a Philadelphia lawyer to decipher the findings. Check it out on the Beeb website if you care enough. In the lesser leagues:- that's the ones below the SPL, where the top teams ply their trade, Ross County eventually secured three points from the Queens at a neutral venue at the third time of asking. Apparently they used an ancient Chinese ritual and the tannoy announcer had to ask everybody in the crowd to hold their hands up in the air. Strangely enough, it worked as many hands make light work. This saw them creep away from Cowdenbeath at the bottom end of the table. They surely will not drop down another division again, but with Calderwood in charge, there's still hope. ***Latest News*** The cull begins:- Russell Duncan has confirmed in the newspapers that he will be leaving Inverness at the end of the season. He is absolutely gutted at not being offered a new contract after 10 years at Inverness and over 350 appearances. Russell has often been made the scapegoat by the manager when results don't go our way and Butcher has been quick to bench him in favour of less passionate players. It's the month of bad news for some players as contract negotiations get thrashed out and this summer could see the dismantling of the class of 2000, the squad that shot to fame by dumping Celtic out of the cup in their own backyard. Only a handful of players remain, including Tokely, and Golabeck but time is running out for most of them. Thanks for the memories Russell. One young man who seems to be in the good books is Shane Sutherland who is impressing Butcher and looks likely to be given another contract. The lad from Wick has grasped his opportunity with both feet and scored a spectacular goal against Motherwell, his first for the club.

  7. Saints draw a blank once more as Jaggies cruise home. Inverness saw off a determined challenge from goal shy St Johnstone to eventually cruise to a comfortable 3-0 victory. Saints spurned great opportunities in the first half and Inverness profited from their deficiencies to steal a march on the Perth outfit. A fabulous header from the much maligned Chris Innes opened a gap that Saints were unable to close in the second half. Aaron Doran curled a delicious second from eighteen yards before Richie Foran clinched the points with a deserved third, wrong footing the defenders and keeper as he bore goalwards. You have to feel sorry for the lads from Perth as they could not buy a goal tonight, on another occasion they might have scored three or four, such is their luck just now. Esson saved smartly from a Jackson effort early on, (are you still watching Levein), and Maybury rattled the foot of the post with a brisk strike while Murray Davidson should have done better than skew a shot wide, but such is life, when it's not running for you, it's hard to break the mould. Biker Davie will give us the full details when he gets back to the land of the living after his cycle south, and here it is, home safe and report typed out for you, cheers wee man. Hands up anyone who saw that coming? A 3-0 win in a dead rubber end of season yawn fest that had 0-0 untidily scrawled all over it. The 0 for Saints was a near certainty, as they have been unable to score since Adam was a lad. What the score would be for ICT was anyone’s guess, the creative engine of Hayes literally putting his feet up. 25th April 2011 McDiarmid Park, Perth ST JOHNSTONE 0 - TEAM: Smith, Maybury, MacKay, Gartland, Grainger, Invincible (Reynolds 86), Millar, Davidson, Craig (Moon 75), Jackson, May (Robertson 46) SUBS: Clark, Novikovas, Taylor, Adams Booked: Gartland (26), Davidson (59) Sent Off: none I.C.T. 3 - Innes (36), Doran (57), Foran (70) TEAM: Esson, Munro, Hogg, Innes, Gillet, Cox, Ross, Sutherland, Doran, Foran (Odhiambo 90), Rooney (MacDonald 88) SUBS: Tuffey, Golabek, Duncan, Morrison Booked: none Sent Off: none Referee Bobby Madden Attendance 2395 ICT started with an interesting back four including Chris Innes, drafted in for the luckless Tokely and the makeshift look was reinforced in the first minute with Ryan Esson forced into a smart save from Jackson. Saints were the brighter starters on a pitch that had more bobbles than a tattie field and their crisper passing was causing problems. The hirsute May was making an impression in midfield, as was Davidson. Chances came and went, including a decent header from Foran but in 20 minutes Maybury exploded a left foot drive off Esson’s post from 25 yards that deserved a goal. ICT’s handling of corners was not the best at this point, Foran being required to clear off the line and it seemed Saints were picking up every second ball that came back out. Defending at corners was to be proved important shortly afterwards, when ICT were awarded a corner on the far side, which Shane Sutherland took. A mediocre effort, it was cleared back to him and he made amends with a peach of a delivery that was cannoned off INNES’ forehead into the pokey. 36 minutes gone, 1-0 up and yes that was the sound of St Johnstone deflating. Perhaps the most telling moment came in 38 minutes, when Davidson burst through ICT’s high line and was clean through on Esson. The ball went wide, Davidson claimed a corner and those in the stadium went nah, you’re joking. He wasn’t, and you can see it at 2:58 in the BBC highlights. In a season of superlative saves that was one of the best. Half Time: St Johnstone 0 Inverness CT 1 A tad lucky was the half time general opinion, but that was put to bed fairly quickly thereafter. Shane Sutherland was coming on to a real game, and Nick Ross was creating all sorts of passes and through balls, but ICT still had to weather an initial flurry of disobedience from Saints. It was eventually punished in 56 minutes by DORAN, who nicked the ball beautifully from a ponderous Maybury, shimmied a bit and then despatched a curling coup de grace into the top left corner – a strike worthy of winning any game. Saints and their fans gave up at this point, and their resistance to Inverness attacks became progressively weaker. By the time FORAN collected the ball, breenged past a couple of challenges and trundled the ball past Smith in 69 minutes, you could sense that Saints just wanted to be put out of their misery. They duly were, and it could have been more – Adam Rooney deserved a fourth when he shot over after collecting another cracking through ball from Ross and how Mr Madden missed a blatant penalty in the second half is beyond me. Full Time: St. Johnstone 0 Inverness CT 3 MOTM? The general consensus was Foran, who was dashed nearly best attacker and defender. Me? I’ll go for Ryan Esson for that sublime moment at 2:58. Scotland’s best uncapped goalie. (Hello Craig, knock knock, waves at Mr Levein) All in all a great display that made your correspondent and everyone else’s journey worthwhile. My own journey had started at 10.30 am when I set off on the bike. It’s a great day out, but you really do forget how tortuous the old A9 was and it’s linked by strips of rubble that pass for a cycle track. Not conducive to making great speed, neither was the “creative” off roading at Crubenmore or the journey into the darkest recesses of Perthshire (what happens in Logierait?) Thanks to those who tooted, the Saints lady that gave me 2 free pies and to Paul Chalk for the lift back up the road. I was heartened by the amount of you who thought I was a nutter, and I’m sorry that Alex had to sit beside me, clad in smelly lycra. Stadium to Stadium 134.4 miles and I felt every one of them! Aye davie, yer legs are getting shorter laddie.

  10. Bank Holiday night out for the Caley Jags Inverness return to the scene of the crime this Easter Monday to face St Johnstone. It was the Saint's that ended Inverness' proud undefeated away record just after New Year with a late Collin Samuel goal ending the year long statistic. Some revenge six weeks later saw Inverness triumph 2-0 in the Highlands. No pressure on either club coming into this one as both sides are safe with Hamilton Accies looking likely to be plying their trade in the fizzy pop league next season. That said, it may well open up the game as the shackles could be released allowing more free flowing football to be displayed by both clubs. Well done to the McDiarmid Park management who are offering tickets for this Easter Eggstavaganza at the knockdown price of just £10 & £5, you can't get much better than that. Remember, it's a 7:45pm kick off. This is the first game after the split and Terry Butcher is looking to maintain Inverness' position as the best of the rest. It has overall been a great season for the Caley Jags. A storming start to the season saw Inverness reach the dizzy heights of fourth in the league and looking like mounting a strong challenge for third spot and a European place. Unfortunately the wheels fell off when the winter months came along and the inevitable happened, we slipped slowly but surely out of the top six and into seventh place where we sit just now. Some may see that as a failure, but all things considered, we would have bitten your hand off if we were offered seventh place at the start of the season. No complaints from me, we have consolidated our place in the top flight after a hugely successful first division campaign and some outstanding displays were interspersed with some rather grim performances, notably stuffing Dundee United 0-4 and Hibs 4-2, however, the festive period undid a lot of the good work and three defeats in a week took the wind out of our sails. The Perth Saints have had a spectacularly unspectacular season. Plodding along merrily out of harms way but not threatening the top half, sort of slipping under the radar if you like. A couple of months without a win has seen them struggle recently and maybe the result of the winter problems at McDairmid Park with postponements coming faster than Queen of the South v Ross County abandoned games. But, they still had enough points on the board to keep their head above water and are only four points adrift of Inverness as we speak. Dumped out of the Scottish Cup unceremoniously by a rampant Motherwell, Derek McInness will be looking to revitalise his flagging teams fortunes. McInness is quite an appealing chap, in fact he is appealing against his four match ban received in the Tayside derby with United. He was none to pleased with United's opener in the 2-0 defeat and his remonstrations did not go unnoticed. Hibs failed to take advantage of us being idle this weekend and could only draw at Easter Road with second bottom St Mirren. That keeps the Hibees one point below us, although we have two games in hand starting with tonights game in Perth. At the top of the table, Rangers and Celtic played out a no scoring draw to share the points and Hearts threw away a three goal lead to draw with Motherwell. The Old Firm result gives Celtic the edge in the race for the title, but could Inverness yet have a say in that as Celtic will be up here on the 4th of May, weather permitting. Team News Inverness will be without the suspended pair of Ross Tokely and Stuart Duff. Tokely was sucked into a second yellow against Hearts and Duff is over the limit. Proctor and Sanchez are long term casualties along with Graeme Shinnie, and Jonny Hayes will join them as he has had his operation on his troublesome ankle. The early op will hopefully see Jonny ready for the new season, fingers crossed. St Johnstone defenders Michael Duberry and Steven Anderson are both suspended, naughty boys, and Saints captain and former Chelsea player Jody Morris looks likely to be rested for the remainder of the season with a recurring back problem. Medical specialist advice will determine whether Morris plays again this season or is rested for the new campaign. Graham Gartland (groin) and Collin Samuel (hip) are doubtful, however Peter Macdonald and Arvydas Novikovas should return. tm4tj Prediction Despite an end of season feeling creeping in to most supporters heads, I think with the pressure off both sides an entertaining encounter is on the cards. With players playing to keep contracts and win bonuses still to be collected this could turn out to be just what the doctor ordered. There will be changes due to suspensions in both camps and maybe some youngsters will be blooded. I am looking for Inverness to reverse the New Year result and sneak a 2-1 victory and maintain our seventh place in the league. Take advantage of the price reduction at the gates and if you can't make it along the road to Perth, then find a pub with ESPN showing the game live. Yes, we are on the telly, broadcasting from 7:30pm. That's it, short and sweet with Easter looming. Enjoy the game, and don't eat too many Easter Eggs, yum yum. ps; if you pass a wee manny on a bike that will be our very own davie, keen as hell to get down to Perth to do the match report. Well, the price of petrol is awful just now. He will update us all in the match report if his wee leggies get him there in time for kick off, but just in case, he has a list of all the pubs with ESPN showing the game and a pocket full of change. Bike on buddy.

  17. No Broken Hearts. Inverness matched top flight Hearts in this entertaining encounter but had to settle for a share of the points as the Edinburgh side came from behind to level the game in the second half. Aaron Doran started the scoring with a beautifully guided volley in the sixth minute and the game developed into an evenly balanced contest with both sides spurning opportunities to score again. Inverness shaded the first half but Hearts showed why they are in contention for European football next season by coming back strongly in the second half. A Stephen Elliot goal levelled the match and the home side were left clinging on as Ross Tokely was sent off for a second bookable offence. In all honesty, Rossco was sucked into a tackle as two players in front of him missed their cues and Rossco ended up lunging in, yellow card and off. Great contributions from Richie Foran who worked himself to a standstill and Lee Cox who showed up well in midfield. Special mention to Kenny Gillet who showed why we want him here and he never shirked a tackle; some guy. Ryan Esson showed again why the national squad are worse off without him, shame on you Levein, are you wearing the same blinkered goggles that blight the SPL and SFA. Jonny Hayes gave glimpses of his precocious talents and has earned his season's break, unfortunately for him, it means an operation on his problem foot/ankle. All this means promising signs for Inverness but with contract negotiations looming, it is an unsettling time for managers and fans alike. This season has been a bonus, especially with our sprinters start, but nobody is getting carried away here, it's a long haul, and that's what we are here for. 16th April 2011 Tulloch Caledonian Stadium ICT 1 - Doran (6) TEAM: Esson, Gillet, Hogg, Tokely, Duff, Cox, Hayes (Sutherland 75), Ross, Foran, Doran (Munro 78), Rooney (MacDonald 72) SUBS: Tuffey, Duncan, Innes, Morrison Booked: Hogg (26), Tokely (44), Foran (79), Gillet (86) Sent Off: Tokely (78) HEARTS 1 - Elliot (53) TEAM: MacDonald, Webster, Bouzid, Thomson, Palazuelos, Santana, Black, Driver (Templeton 69), Stevenson, Skacel (McGowan 64), Elliot SUBS: Balogh, Glen, Zaliukas, Robinson, Mrowiec Booked: Bouzid (79), Black (89) Sent Off: none Referee Crawford Allan Attendance 4336 Our roving reporter young ginger jaggy will spill the beans..................... Yesterday the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium witnessed a thrilling spectacle which saw both teams looking to claim all 3 points. The first half was mainly dominated by Inverness with Aaron Doran putting us in front. Hearts had a decent spell either side of half time before levelling through Stephen Elliot. Both teams had chances to score a decisive winner but both defences did there job with each team having chances cleared off the line. To end the game Inverness found themselves down to ten men after a second booking to Ross Tokely. It didn't prove to be costly as both teams settled for a draw in what was a very entertaining game of football. It was Caley Thistle who threatened first with the imperious Foran getting a head on to a Hayes cross which brought out a comfortable save from Jamie Macdonald in the Jambo's goal. Foran was again in the thick of the action as he dispossessed one of the Hearts centre backs and put in a teasing cross which only needed the slightest of touches from Adam Rooney to put us ahead. The home fans though were not made to wait long for the breakthrough. Some brilliant quick attacking football saw Rooney gain some space on the right which allowed him to play a pinpoint cross onto the boot of Aaron Doran. He expertly volleyed past the despairing Macdonald to put us deservedly in front. Caley Thistle continued to press and could have had a couple more before the break. Rooney was involved in both. He first of all latched on to a Doran cross, diving in he forced a decent save from McDonald. Next up Rooney was sent through on goal but he wasn't himself and the keeper pounced on his hesitancy, Nick Ross followed up but his shot was blocked by a defender and Hearts survived. Inverness should have had a penalty when Foran was impeded by Ex Caley Jag Ian Black's elbow. Referee Crawford Allan waved away all the protests to the dismay of the home supporters. Tokely was booked for what was a trip even though it looked like the big defender had not meant it and so to see a yellow was very harsh indeed. Hearts as an attacking force were fairly limited in the first half. Suso Santana had a low drive comfortably collected by Esson, he was still to be really tested. This almost changed on half time when Stuart Duff made a brilliant goal line clearance to deny Rudi Skacel who had beaten the helpless Esson. Half Time 1-0 The second half started much the same as the first ended. Jefferies must have been shouting at his players at half time and they came out and pushed the home side back. It wasn't long before Hearts almost equalised. Elliot got a deflection to Lewis Stevenson's header only to see Rooney, helping back, knee the ball off the line and onto his own bar. Inverness escaped, only just, but it wasn't to last long. Hearts early pressure paid off with Elliot finishing Suso's cutback to give them a deserved equaliser. Controversy plagued the equaliser as the Inverness players and fans were furious about the thrown in. The question wasn't a matter of whether it was a Hearts throw but where the throw was taken as it looked like it was taken in the wrong place. Protests fell on deaf ears, even Terry Butcher who sat in the main stand rushed down to confront the fourth official. Instead of Hearts taking the momentum from their equaliser it was Caley Thistle who looked most likely to score. Hayes and Doran were causing trouble down the Inverness flanks and it was Hayes with a tempting ball to the back post which only needed a touch but ran agonisingly wide of the far post. Hearts then looked like they had taken the lead when Suso easily out muscled Kenny Gillet to run towards the Caley Thistle goal, cutting it back to Lewis Stevenson but he saw his shot brilliantly tipped past the post by a fully stretched Esson. Next it was the home side claiming the ball crossed the line from a goal line clearance. Richie Foran found space at the back post with his header flying past the stranded Macdonald only to see a fantastic clearance by Andy Webster. The clearance was made better by the fact that it looked like Rooney would bundle it in. The replays have proved inconclusive but at the time the majority of the stadium believed it was over the line. Hearts then had a second cleared away when it looked certain to end in the back of the net. Lewis Stevenson again beat Esson but found Tokely covering behind him to clear it away comfortably from the six yard box. The game then took a dramatic turn as Ross Tokely was given his marching orders for a second bookable offence. This tackle did deserve a yellow, but because the first was harsh he found himself having to go for an early bath. It was a shame for him as he had had a decent game in the centre of defence. The surprising thing though was it was 10 man Inverness that looked like getting the winner as Hearts huffed and puffed against a deep home side. On the break Caley Thistle looked dangerous but it turned out that both goalkeepers were not to be tested again as the game ended all square. Full Time 1-1 Terry Butcher would have been the happier of the two managers with his players putting in a great performance with the issue of contracts now to be resolved. Jefferies wasn't particularly happy with his players but this result shouldn't make any real effect on their grip to retain third spot in the league. As for the players every one of them had a brilliant game apart from Adam Rooney who has looked a shadow of the player that we saw earlier on in the season. Aaron Doran won man of the match with one of his best performances to date since joining on loan in January. But if I was to single out one player, it would be club Captain Richie Foran who deserved the MOM award for his outstanding display of quality and commitment. A pleasing outcome which could have been better as we now enter the split fixtures. Next week we will be off to McDiairmid park on easter Monday in a 7:45 ko against the Perth Saints.

  19. Capital Visitors to Highlands The top-six fairy tail has endeth, but the games keep coming and Hearts will be looking to consolidate third place in the SPL with the hosts looking to finish with a flourish after running out of steam in the winter months. The best of the rest is Butcher's aim now that Motherwell secured the points to keep them ahead of Inverness in the race for that last top-six spot. Motherwell held their nerve as Inverness blew hot and cold in that last couple of months so it's congratulations to them and commiserations to the Caley Jags. Ginger Jaggy has been checking the pros and cons of this one, and his preview is ready for your eyes. It has been a dramatic season with major highs and major lows, now we have made it to the final fixture before the split (Celtic game still to be confirmed). This small run that we faced to gain a top six place was always going to be hard but with the Celtic postponement it allowed us to delay the inevitable that has been coming for a while since Christmas. Last week at Killie a creditable draw was not good enough and so we now face the likes of Hamilton and St Mirren instead of the Old Firm. It has been disappointing to let slip such a wonderful position at Christmas but lets reflect - it has been a wonderful season. Let's remember us as a newly promoted team that went to Parkhead, Ibrox and Tynecastle and remained undefeated. Some supporters see the bottom six now as a boring end to the season that won't bring much excitement but there is no pressure on any of the teams which may produce some exciting games – we can only hope. Let's first of all concentrate on high-flying Hearts who we entertain on Saturday. Info on the opposition Hearts have had a very fine season and look like finishing as 'best of the rest' behind the old firm. They started the season a little bit erratically but an amazing run of 1 defeat in 11 matches before and just after Christmas got the Edinburgh club up the top of the table and challenging the old firm. A 1-0 win at home to Rangers gave hopes that this would be a 3 horse race but it didn't last long with a 4-0 thumping at Parkhead. Since then Hearts have dropped points and have fallen back from the Old Firm but have a comfortable gap to the rest of the top six teams. Recently my best friend at university took me to Easter Road to see the derby. It was a brilliant occasion apart from being crushed by some very excited jambos. The game was brilliant for a neutral to watch and showed what a good footballing side Hearts have been this season. Even without the physical presence of Kevin Kyle they have remained on target to achieve third spot and that coveted Europa League spot. Past Encounters This season we have faced Hearts twice and so this will be the last fixture between the clubs this season. Our first game was a live ESPN game at 12 in the highlands. Unfortunately for the four and half thousand souls it wasn't to be a happy day as the jambos headed back down south with all 3 points. It had started so well with Eric Odhiambo putting the Caley Jags ahead. But with what has been a common feature this season we failed to hold a lead to half time. Hearts won a free kick and a wicked delivery ended up flicking Chris Innes's head and finding the corner for an own goal. The second half saw Caley Thistle bring out two magnificent saves from Marion Kello which effectively won the game. At the other end Hearts quick attacking football was too much for the Inverness backline as Hearts scored another 2 to seal the win. Tynecastle was more one sided than that game as Hearts bombarded our goal for the majority of the game. As with the first game we took an early lead thanks to Grant Munro with his'predatory skills' from a free Kick. The equaliser was pretty swift with Kevin Kyle converting a penalty after Ryan Esson tumbled Stephen Elliot in the box. Hearts peppered our goal, how it stayed at 1-1 was beyond me even though we had a great chance on the break in stoppage time to sneak 3 points but Russell Duncan choose to shoot straight at Kello when he had options either side. It wasn't to be but a draw still made sure we remained unbeaten away for a whole calendar year, what a year that was. Form Guide The form guide for this match isn't great if you are of an Inverness persuasion. We managed to pick up 27 points before Christmas which gave us a great platform to mount a challenge for a top six place but since then we have only managed to accumulate a meagre 11 points which has seen us miss out on the top six. In our last five matches we have managed to pick up 4 points with the excellent 3-0 home win over Motherwell and the solid 1-1 draw at rugby park last time out. But in between that we have had below par results and performances against Dundee Utd twice and Hibs. Hearts though haven't faired much better in their last five. They have only picked up 1 more point than us with a win over St Mirren and two draws which was the derby and Motherwell last week. They have also suffered from Dundee United's rise to form losing 2-0 at Tannadice while also being beaten 2-0 at home by bogey side Kilmarnock. When it comes to this fixture though, Hearts have the upper hand winning 10 of the 18 encounters while Caley Thistle can only claim 3 victories with 5 ending up all square. Gingerjaggies thoughts We are looking for a strong end to the year after an indifferent 2011 so far. The top six is over for another season and now is the time to try and finish as high as possible, with players now playing for contracts. The season is now all but over and so every game is now meaningless in a sense, although there is still money up for grabs for every place you climb in the league. But Hearts I hope will be a decent game and it is a great chance for players to now show some commitment with no pressure on the result. I think it will be an entertaining game and I feel we can sneak a win 2-1. ***Latest Team News*** Proctor and Sanchez are the long term crocks, but news that Graeme Shinnie is back training after a long illness will be welcomed by the Caley Jags fans. Jonny Hayes could play his last game this season on Saturday before going under the knife. He needs a clean up operation on his troublesome ankle/foot that will see him needing plenty recovery time for the start of next season, so sooner rather than later for Jonny. Hearts are without our nemesis, Kevin Kyle after the big lad undedrwent a hip op. That's not a new music genre, but surgery on his hip to clean out the joint. This will keep him out until next season. Marius Zaliukas is available in between bans, which could ease Jim Jeffries' problems as the Jambos have doubt's over a number of players Marian Kello, Rudi Skacel, Suso Santana, Eggert Jonsson and Darren Barr. Lee Wallace and Calum Elliot are not in the frame to appear due to injuries, which can only be good news for the home defence as Elliot scored here earlier in the season, and has made a bit of a habit of it. Other SPL News Rangers troubles have now doubled as they are facing fresh allegations of sectarian singing against their fans and there is the possibility of being forced into playing games behind closed doors next season. Not content with challenging Rangers about alleged sectarian chanting in Eindhoven, the return leg has also been scrutinised and Uefa are set to act on these allegations. It makes you wonder what the hierarchy in the Scottish game have been doing all these years; burying their heads in the sand when it comes to the Old Firm, but dare any of the lesser clubs step out of line, then look out. Bullies if you ask me. Congratulations to our dear friends from across the bridge, they have managed to take our cup back North and can look after it for the next year. I hope they keep it clean, plenty Brasso and elbow grease should do the trick. But, the relegation battle continues for them as Cowdenbeath draw level on points with the gudgies.

    The Masters

McIlroy has collapsed completely, unable to sink a putt from more than two feet, unbelievable, four putted the twelfth (wow, that looks like a weird word). He has completely exploded now and just needs to get off the course, the pressure has obviously got to him, very disturbing to see. Everyone else is peppering the pins and Rory is playing like a beginner. Yer money is safe with the bookies DC.
