Fairly settled midfield and Barrowman drawing a blank is lso worrying. Caff was abysmal, he had a hand in both goals. First goal was a deep cross which Hart powered a header across goal slightly behind Winter, but he flicked it goalwards and Caff only succeeded in hoofing the spinning ball into the net from under the crossbar. Goal number two and up steps Caff again, this time letting a long clearance drop over his head in poor judgement error, and Higgins ran in behind him to slip the ball home. County almost paid for some slackness when Samuel scored from close in late on after Holmes won another header in the box but County held on when they really should have been on easy street. Pretty naff game with maybe 1500 fans attending, we will see how County do their arithmetic on this one. Golly and Hart played well for County and I was impressed with their number five again, the ginger fellow.

Different market places as well, the EPL paying grossly inflated prices for their products. ?400K for Marius in his last contracted year and given the way he played for us............probably a decent enough price if true.

The game took place at the Farum Park complex where the Danish Superliga play their home games. We had the better of the first half but went in 0-0 at the break and in the second half FC Nordsjaelland were the better side and took the lead from a corner into the box which we should have dealt with better. Adam Rooney came on with 35 minutes left for play and Garry Wood also entered the fray 15 minutes later. It was the latter that drew us level, a Don Cowie cross towards the back post was knocked back across goal for Garry Wood to volley home from close range. Two minutes later we thought we had taken the lead when Rooney netted but his strike was ruled out for offside. Away and get stuffed ya olde git. You were correcting someone only last week or so on the word know, or no..........tut tut. If I have to explain myself regarding the word definitely, Beastie will remember a conversation we had at Love Street, or maybe he won't as the cartons of coke were well laced with vodka. In fact, he started the spelling probe in this thread. I often start a sentence without a capital letter, especially if it is only a one liner. If I add more I usually go back and stick a capital on it. It's not a higher grade English examination. And another thing, my laptop keyboard is broken and the temporary keyboard I am using smetimes misses out letters or spaces. Poor excuse really, but the truth. No problem with the questions on tactics, probably the one thing that will see plenty of differing opinions absent. It was the thread title that I was scrutinising, sounded like another Brew bashing excercise. My opinion of him for what it's worth............He is the manager, for good or bad and we should get behind him and the team. I am ok with his appointment, somebody has to do the job and no matter who it is they will still be villified by some sections of the support. I do tend to defend him at times as people who get criticised on here are not usually present to defend themselves and a lot of the criticism is ill advised.

I am aware of everything you say and agree entirely. The title of the thread though is MANAGER UNDER SCRUTINY...........just another thread on the same topic. Don't also forget when he left to go to United, he ensured ICT were well compensated. He made an error going to United, he won't be so keen to do the same again. Whats the point of this thread. The heading says the manager is under scrutiny. From who? A bunch of guys on a football forum who always think they know better? This is just another opportunity for the anti-Brew brigade to stick the knife in further. What is wriong with everyone? The league has not started and it's all doom and gloom. Most managers are under scrutiny from some aspects of their support, but with us it is a constant lets blame Brew for everything. He may be far from perfect, but if we believe we are helping by constantly undermining his qualities/decisions then think again. The time to criticise is when something has gone wrong and is solely down to Mr Brewster and his management structure. Why moan for the sake of seeing your own typing. I agree with Alex........is the long ball a tactic?? I have seen Brew with a furrowed brow on occasions when another ball is hoofed up the park and comes straight back at us, is this his fault or the fault of the player? Has Brew got full control over who signs for the club? I don't know, therefore I won't offer criticism towards him for that. Jay7 has questioned some signings, fair enough it's an opinion, but Elliot was just a rumour, Barrowman seems ok if he can get the right service, he looks like a decent poacher, and Lionel could well prove to be the best signing, but only time will tell. Dorrans, as if. It does not appear easy to get quality players to come this far North, thats why we nick them from County, Mr Cowie seems to have done alright. Esson could do well if reqired but not any more than Zibi was doing last year. Tough position goalie, only one spot up for grabs. Blackie is a well known hothead, Denzil was badly underachieving and Barry maybe needed a little reminder. Deano never played because he looked as much use as a chocolate teapot. Watt was not any better, although given time to get match fit at Dingwall he may eventually prove to be a decent player, we could not afford the luxury of a 75% player in the heart of the defence. Parkie staying...........not a chance, it is just the usual guff when changes take place. Rankin also became a bit of a luxury player and needed to rethink his dedication to the cause. Niculae was maybe out of his hands, but he also had a role to play. I think we watch every season in the SPL with trepidation, it's how it is I'm afraid. Defence is a big worry, we need a big player, how much of that is down to Brew??? Who knows, maybe the director of football is looking in to it. However, lets just blame Brew for everything.

Poor game really. Apart from scoring two goals in the first half we were inept. Perth played some neat footie but most of it petered out before it got near Esson. He looked slow to clear from foot, and on numerous occasions today he was almost shut down by the Perth strikers. He did make one tremendous save from a stinging twenty five yarder, but he threw himself high to his right to tip the ball over and from the resultant corner he showed a safe pair of hands to collect the dangerous cross. Other than the dodgy kicking, he played pretty well. McGuire looked poor and Duncan matched him. Hastings did get forward and delivered a deep ball which found it's way to Cowie who rifled the ball home first time for the opener. Black appeared to react quickest to a loose ball to poke home number two from close range. Suspect defending by Saints for both goals as the first cross looked as though it bounced across the box before Don Cowie smacked it home. Well, they did have Caff in the middle of their defence. Second half we started poorly and got worse when McGuire let a high ball bounce and put the defence under pressure for Milne to stab home. At this point Saints looked likely to catch up and maybe take control of the game. The North Stand hardly saw the ball in the opening stages of the second half as Saints held the upper hand. The introduction of Wilson changed our fortunes and he set the ball rolling for number three, with Imrie eventually setting Barrowman up for a tap in from three yards, even yer granny would have scored that one. Credit to Perth for opening us up again with ease as Milne took a through ball early and lifted the ball over a stranded Esson, Andy Murray take note, well executed finish. Rory came on for the last few minutes and did better. He cruised through a couple of tackles in the box but would have been better advised to cut the ball across the box, however the keeper smothered his shot from an acute angle. Wilson was now stretching the Perth defence and we scored a good goal right at the death, with Bazza again instrumental in the build up. He released Zander who looked up then played a slide rule ball into the box where the arriving Rory tucked the ball behind the keeper. Excellent goal all round. Overall, a lack lustre display with many fans preferring to watch paint dry or even worse contemplate some retail therapy. Denmark next, maybe that was on their minds, but we will need to sort out the defending and play more ball to the feet of Barrowman. Still his confidence will have had a wee boost with another goal, albeit a tap in. I thought Black was once again the shining light for us before being subbed. Maybe a flattering scoreline, but nevertheless, still a scoreline in our favour

Barrowman was gash. Imrie and Cowie did ok, the rest were already on their holidays.

'Batting' the ball back into play seems to be a fairly modern trend. In years gone by the keepers invariably held the ball or tipped it over. It appears to be fairly common for them to fist the ball back from whence it came from nowadays. The German chappie at Rangers was great for that style of play. It seems to me that the European style has filtered through to Scotland. I beleve the newer balls are responsible in part for this type of defending as they are lighter and move a lot more in the air thus deceiving the keeper and making it easier to bat the ball back than try to catch it. I don't think he is much of a slouch either. He does have a fairly cool approach to his gait, maybe that gives the impression he is slow. Mike received plenty of praise from BBC radio commentators last season, something like "he seems to get better and better everytime we see him play" and "he can fairly kick the ball" spring to mind. Mike will only get better and with the right coaching, could go very far in this game. He has alreay displayed his aerobatics and I look forward to seeing him keep Esson on the bench, but good choice back up keeper to push him all the way. Goalkeeper can be a pretty lonely position, you are on your own there, one mistake and game up. Nobody can help you save the ball although the defenders can assist by defending further forward and keeping opportunities to a minimum. But once the striker is through, only one person can prevent the inevitable, and that person for us at the moment is Mike Fraser. Defenders have the luxury of someone else to help out, midfield the same and strkers also get help, someone else will score if he does not, but keepers are flying solo. Very few keepers are brilliant at coming for crosses, and Mike falls into that category at the moment. He does ok but that is an area that can be improved. Mark Brown was abysmal at crosses but we all thought he was special because he was such a good shot stopper.......don't mention the penalties. Remember Broonie also had a better defence in front of him, despite repeated lack of communication with some of them costing us dear. I think your criticism of him is unjustified and unfair. We all cringe when the ball comes into our box, it's the nature of the game, but Mike has done OK and will be better every season. Also just an opinion, but one shared by people better placed to judge him than me.

Me.............bottom line is he could offer no more than what we already have.

Well, I'll say it if no one else will. Well done Rory for scoring goals, no matter the opposition, you still have to stick them away. Maybe, just maybe the confidence boost you need............but you still have to get stuck in loon. Did Brewster help you out?
