from whistleblower site Alan Freeland Date of Birth: 22 January 1961 Height: 5' 10! Weight: 12 stones Profession: Accountant First ever match: Arbroath vs Queen of the South (referee in SFL – 7 Aug 1993) First international match: Sporting Lisbon (Portugal) v Kalmar FF (Sweden) in UEFA Cup as Linesman (Oct 1987) or Romania v Italy in U16 Championships as Referee (March 1997) Career highlights Appointment onto FIFA List of International Referees (twice) covering 51 appointments. Appointments to Cup Finals including UEFA Intertoto (2003), League Cup (1996), Qualifying Cup (1988 and 1998) and 7 other finals involving Highland League teams. Representing local referees association at all levels through to Presidency. What does being a football referee mean to you? Being part of the ‘beautiful’ game and hopefully making a meaningful contribution. Why did you become a referee? As a skinny 16 year old, I was getting bundled off the ball too easily and wanted to stay involved in the game. Would you have wished to become a full-time referee? At the right age, without obligations, I would probably have taken up the opportunity. Any pet hates in football? Players who cheat their fellow professionals and think it is OK – simulation, violence off the ball etc. What Law of the Game would you change? Dissent : a caution for dissent brings an automatic 10 or 15 minutes in a sin bin. The most difficult Law to apply? Players diving when running at speed. Your best memory in football? Too many to mention but; 1. As a 12 year old primary school kid, collecting the Primary Cup at Pittodrie as captain and 2. As a referee, leading a team of 4 Scottish officials into a European tie for the first time, made me very proud Other sports or hobbies? Golf and relaxing some where warm. Your main strength? Perseverance And main weaknesses? I don’t listen very well (especially when Mrs F is talking) What's in your car CD player? Bruce Springstein – Best Hits Compilation Beer or wine? Wine Favourite film? Shrek or Pulp Fiction Tastiest food? Mince, tatties and skirlie Favourite holiday destination? South of France; the weather, the food, the wine – oh la la Luck or judgement? Judgment – I am not lucky! Dress up or dress down? Dress up, always………then dress down. Whom would you most like to meet? Muhammad Ali Ambitions? Officiate at the Scottish Cup Final and to continue refereeing senior football for as long as possible. Any advice for young referees? The good times will always out weigh the bad times. Know the Laws of the Game, then trust yourself and be brave.

Glad you enjoyed it, sorry about the pubs closing early. What sort of team did you guys have starting on Friday? Was it your normal starting eleven or a mixture. We unfortunately played the next day as well which meant we could only play half the team on Friday and the other half on Saturday, with some squad players playing both days. You should do Ok in the Premiership, have a good one.

Not sure what Sandy is taking. Proc came on for last few minutes, maybe ten. He is a decent player though and had some good touches. :clapping04:

Time you had yer birthday. I shall enlarge on that statement car. I said he was busy, typically so from him, but like Rory, there was no end product and he missed a good opportunity drifting in at the back post. I said disappointing me, which means that I always look for something to happen when he has the ball, but nothing really came of it today. Therefore whilst he disappointed me, he still had an OK game. No failures really from our team and as you said, fairly one sided affair. Hastings will be worthy MoM material when his crossing improves, he gets in to fantastic positions then all too often balloons the ball over the crossbar. Today his crosses were a bit floated making it easy for the defenders and difficult for the strikers. I would go along with Morgan as the pick of them today, but he also drifted out of the game after a good start. Still, no complaints from me.

Comfortable stuffing of County. Caff slotting in the first after the ball played pinball in the County defence. Denzil made and scored the second................you know he's going to do it, the defendedr knows it, the tea lady knows it, the man on the moon know it, yet it still happens. He scooped the ball past the defender and scored with a neat right foot curler low past the keeper from a tight angle. Well done Denzil, that was more like it. We threatened to run away with it for a while and Morgan and McAllister should have added to the tally. Rory being thwarted by a combination of an incredible reflex save from the keeper and the crossbar. Hart swung a free kick into the box and everybody missed it, including the goalie for number three. Thus endeth the scoring but we should maybe have added one more before the end. Better game to pass judgement on our players, Denzil showed a bit more eagerness and took his goal well. Mike Fraser made one good save.............and one blooper, dropped one at the strikers feet Team that started was ---------------------------fraser------------------------- caff-----------dods---------------grantie---------hastings wilson-------black--------------keogh-----------morgan ---------------------rory-----denzil------------------------- Thought Morgan started well and Blackie did well to keep the heid after a couple of late tackles. Keogh was busy but a bit disappointing for me. Barry looked good in the second half and was starting to open up the defence. Rory again had no end product but Denzil scored neatly. We were too good for County and the difference in quality showed. Crowd was ????????one thousand maybe, maybe more. The downside of playing County is that the seats in the South stand will now have to be disinfected, with some maybe beyond help having to be burned :016: Big players for us this year in my humble opinion could be Morgan Grantie and Bazza, and today they looked in good nick. :003: Campbell...........nothing special, worked away, would need to see more from him.
-
Not sure about the crowd, but thought someone mentioned two and a half thousand.

:010: Wow, look at this negative quoty quoty from one of our fans regarding the Deveronvale game. "Glass missed some glorious chances and Rory was poor again unfortunately"
-
:015: I must be missing something. You never gave me a chance to answer............yes I do remember him giving the ball away, and I also remember him passing up two decent shooting opportunities because the ball was on his right foot. He will come good once they all get to know each other a bit better. I also think we are now officially a team of midget midfielders, Morgan aside. We maybe need to offload some of these guys. CC will have a task ahead to sort out his middle men, but maybe it will be horses for courses. Wilson, Proctor, Duncan, Hart, Black Rankin, McBain, Fox, Morgan, Keogh, Soane, Sutherland. Rankin didn't shine bright for me, but then again he wasn't out of place. Say it as you see it. I am sure he will shine once he settles in.

Anyone following the golf this week? Engrossing stuff. :walking02:

Re the half time entertainment, Billy Urquhart can still stick them away...............Denzil, watch yer contract. :015:biggest cheer of the night had to be when Grassa disposessed Brewster in the first tackle of the fives :clapping04: Don't know if it has been mentioned, but Blades had about the same amount of fans as Motherwell & Killie, maybe around 100. I don't like being critical of players in these type of games, with the opposition probably being about as good as we will face all year and half our team not playing.............but, we need to start scoring against the better teams. Bayne did miss a sitter, as did Barry (penalty), Rossco slightly more difficult first timer from a Robson corner, we also hit the bar at the far end, and Bayne seemed to miss a heading opportunity as well at the far end. However, don't kid yourselves and think we could have drawn or beaten them.............we were well beaten as they sliced us open time and time again and remember, they also altered their side. But, it was a testimonial, (keep saying to yourself), and lets get down to the real stuff, the sooner the better.
-
I agree with everything..............apart from the Rankin bitty...............he was no better than ok..... but then again he was no worse than what we we have................therefore for 65 grand, was it worth buying him? I think he can deliver.............but tonight he was anonymous, like Wyness and a couple of others..........then again, it was only a kick about............
-
No not at this time of night.....................well...........none I can share with you :010:
-
Ok then kencar, i'll cut to the quick.............Rankin was pish.............but I know he can produce better. .it is difficult to judge performances based on a few pre-season friendlies, but the ones I have witnessed, Denzil is the biggest sinner, followed by ..................no one...............Denzil take note, your displays have been dire, and that is a great pity because I believe you have the talent to do well in this league.......so. whatever is restricting you, get fekkin stuck in.......or ta ta
-
hmmmmnnnn, with regards to Rankin, he should pull his finger out as should Denzil. Poor performance by both and unless Denzil is doing something special in training, he will not be starting with Dargo. In our favour, we did not have Dods Hastings Black Dargo playing tonight, and Toklers is not fully fit. CC has a job to sort out his first choice midfield, he may have to compare notes with granty24 to find out his starting selection. :010:
-
Yes I did thanks gringers :003: We started with something like ----------------------broonie------------------------ tokely-------caff--------------grantie---------golly hart----------mcbain------rankin----------duncan not sure why they bothered to turn up, but bayne and wyness were vthe strikers
-
0-3 for united, i posted on another thread :003:
-
Not sure what all the fuss is about.........Zogg bought his tonight, large........perfect fit, no problem.
-
3-0 to United Outclassed us at times, although we missed a couple of decent chances, especially Bayne sclaffing a shot when clean through and Bazza missing a penalty late on.............however, only a testimonial, it was about Rossco tonight and he even missed a decent chance from a Robson corner. Almost came back on to take the penalty, but he was having none of it. Tomorrow might be more of a game.
-
ok ok ok, I'll get off ma sick bed and turn up. :019:
-
enjoy your night big boy, well deserved and how about a scissors kick to win the match........well, maybe not :003:
-
"Blacks tackles back " Is that a tongue twister?...........like the pheasant plucker's son, who's only plucking pheasants till the pheasant plucker comes................it's not easy to type, never mind say. :017:

Cold sores.............I fekkin hate them :019:

Season tickets arrived today and accompanying letter quotes prices for these games at £10 for adults and £5 for concessions. So pick the bones out of that. Call the club if in doubt 01463 222880. Sheffield game quoted as 07:45 pm County game quoted as 03:00 pm Also quoting that the new strip from Errea 'should' arrive and be on sale both days. one more quote "yours in sport, Mike Smith" :010:
-
Not really the correct thread for this either, but to answer the question on what sort of teams CC will put out. He expects Tokely to play for an hour against United, as he is back in full training. Campbell should play against County. Oh yes it is ya old git, you are off the pace.
-
Think CC has already stated that Rankin will make home debut against Sheffield United, but due to some 'arrangement' with County, he will not play against them on the Saturday.
