  2. or if your German..... The Year of Three Emperors (Dreikaiserjahr in German) refers to the year 1888. On March 9, 1888, Wilhelm I, the first German Emperor, died. He was succeeded by his son, Friedrich III (Frederick III). However, Friedrich was already terminally ill with cancer, and died after only 99 days of rule, on June 15. Friedrich's son, Wilhelm II, then succeeded to the throne. German schoolchildren learn the year in question with the mnemonic “drei Achten, drei Kaiser” ("three eights, three emperors"). My mate Wikipedia tells me all this.

  4. Seen a lot worse in most games. Players are getting soft nowadays.
  5. You're getting old if... It takes you all night to do what you used to do all night farthings and silver threepennies were in your pocket along with threepenny bits, half crowns and florins, ten bob notes for the rich kids.
  6. Theres an answer. Why don't we sign a couple of polish players :003: It is far too expensive for what is on offer, these prices are killing the game in this country, it is no longer something that ordinary people want to part with their hard earned cash.
  7. Always a problem rig. Remember the next home game after we beat Celtic 1-3 at Parkhead and about 1200 turned up to welcome their heroes at home. Bobby man mentioned this and then was slated by some of the fans for complaining about the support. I have to say that he was right, what more could the team do, yet general apathy rules. Slashing the prices to rock bottom may help this type of game and maybe offering freebies to schools/clubs/organisations etc. Four thousand fans missing sums up what the locals think of SPL football in Inverness at that prices. Noticed a sentence from you on other thread. "Yet again I think ICT underestimated the opposition and nearly got screwed over" Painful one for me, when I was walking over the Kessock bridge after the game on Sunday, I stood on a very rusty screw about 100m from the North end of the bridge. I had to go to casualty to have the screw removed. Been off work for four days and getting fed up limping around. I for one, was certainly screwed over! [attachment deleted by admin]

  9. Ceryainly not a vintage performance from ICT. Denzils goal was a bit ropey, poachers goal, Bayners worked very hard and deserved to get something and Rory flighted one into the roof of the net from maybe twenty five yards, decent finish. Sons goal was a neat finish, curled round Brown from fifteen yards after a neat reverse path let Dobbie in on goals from the left edge of the box, still, good goal. Just after that they could and should have scored at least one more goal. We were pretty uninspired, Barry wasting numerous chances to take on the defenders and losing the ball too easily. We did step up the pace a bit in the second half and deserved to win. We could have scored five or six, but that would have been rough on Dumbarton, who played some neat stuff and battled away. I also thought Hart was doing okish, and was surprised it was him that was subbed and not maybe Barry or Morgan or Duncan. Bayne MoM for effort if nothing else, but he did well and surely deserves a start at Tynecastle. Tokely also did ok, but Morgan went quiet in the middle of the game and Golly and Caff did nothing to promote their cause. Overall, deserved if uninspiring performance.
  10. oh right then, he plays records and people dance to them.
  11. Courier has Morgan in the frame with Bayne starting and four or five others getting a shot. Golly Hart Morgan and Duncan should all feature at some stage.

  15. Hey Don, you recorded me at half time.............pretty much how I witnessed and assessed the whole affair :015:
  16. Agree, we needed someone to hold the ball for a few seconds, Bazza gives us that if not the darting winger of old. All too often today the ball was cleared and came straight back at us, no one to hold and create and defending very deep. Still, settle for the deserved point. Great strike by Grantie ...........Stuart will be pleased......... :003:
  17. :006: sorry ken, I have seen him a number of times, including games for County, but for me, he has yet to start his ICT career. I know he is a decent player, but for me he has yet to sparkle for us.

    DENZIL

Agree kencar, he is just not getting the service he should be getting. He is a goal threat, but not the way we throw balls ten feet into the air in his direction. Bayne is more suited to this and showed his worth today. It's not entirely Denzils fault, but he could show more commitment, and the team should repay that by supplying him with the service he deserves.
  19. It was much easier watching the game at the stadium........piece of cake :003:
  20. Bigger is not always best. :017:
  21. Just back from A&E, walking over Kessock Bridge after game and stood on a rusty screw, entered foot about one inch. Anyway, we were well worth the draw, despite the posession Celtic had in the first half. Great strike from Grantie, the Innes bar sponsored player, and with a run of the ball, Bayne might just have got more contact on the ball and nicked a goal for us. I like Bayners style, get fing stuck into them, well done that man. Brown never really tested apart from shot creeping wide. Good defensive display again, well done Dodsy & co. Midfield looked lost in the first half, and dare I say it, I thought Rankin was again woeful. Denzil just does not mix it, not his type of game. Hart worth a shot and who has hidden Morgan? Overall, we deserved the point and almost won all three. Good gutsy performance especially second half, well done team. Yes we were totally outsung off the park, but hey, we still got the same points as them :003:

    DENZIL

Denzil is a good footballer, but the problem is we employ him as a striker, sombody to score goals. We have an abundance of midfielders, it is a pity he has to drop deeper to come from the midfield rather than getting the service he used to receive from Mann and Robson on the edge of the box...........scoop and double shuffle later, the ball was in the net. Thats what we want, not another midfielder. Personally, Bayne has as much right to get a start as Denzil.
  24. Well done 1more, I too have removed Hearts from my wardrobe as it became more and more difficult to put my hand on my heart and say they were the team I was supporting. When my sons grew a bit older they made their own decisions, one being to stop taking him to see Ross County playing, the second to buy him ICT tops instead of Hearts tops. You get a 'feel' for the club the longer you stand on the touchlines watching them plough their way through the divisions and put teams from the south to the sword, even in blizzards and howling gales. Yes it does take time to find your true identity, but once you do find it, there is only one team to focus on, and that is when over the years the fanbase will become stronger. Therefore, lets back the club and whoever is at the helm, they are doing the best with limited resources.
  25. would that be text page 536 on Grampian/STV whatever they call it now.
