Was in P&J the other day that contracts expire end of May and players will need to sign extensions.

Not sure how that will work with loans.

If that really is the case then its incredibly tin-pot & amateur as we have had these discussions year on year regarding play-off dates etc. However the P&J as a source has little credibility and doubtful any access to the legal T&C's of player contracts or the caveats in place.

Hypothetically though, if I was a player and my contract expires then I may not be able to extend due to having signed & committed to another club (PCA) or through my agent will be looking for a hefty additional sum to extend a few days knowing the club are ****** for a cup final with half a team missing!!!

I think the same thing happened even more recent than that to Rangers. No one interested in friendlies.

All the clubs finished the season will have released players for summer holidays and are rebuilding for next, all others still have competitive games ongoing (this extends both north & south of the border). Best hope might be a few bounce games against PL reserve or youth teams, otherwise can you expect any club (even a HL or Elgin) to say 'Aye, no bother we will call our lads up just to come play a friendly against Caley and they will start cancelling their AI hols to Magaluf'.

  3. Its expected that the contract wording would be until XX date or after final season game whichever is latest in calender to cover these eventualities as the club will know the play-off date risks wrt to contract end dates. SC & league games (including play-off) are part of the regular game season.

  4. Hate Friday night options. Never please everyone I guess, but it's crap for away fans, home fans that aren't in the local area and anyone who works in most jobs til 5 or 6pm. I know wknd fixtures affect some too but the extent is less IMO.

Will await ST renewal prices and direction of the club first but I agree that with inflation and living costs the prospect of spending on something that feels a chore makes hard decisions for many.

Add the lack of club engagement with fans and general apathy shown there is a danger of significant reduction in uptake and club income.

  5. Performed well before at this level so his ability is not in question and would be harsh to say he has peaked. Either comes down to attitude and motivation or the coaching and how he is asked or trained to play. Hope he's not one of these youngsters who thinks because he had a bigger club move and gets a bit more cash that he's already made it and too good for loans and diddy leagues.

  6. Needed him on last night for the 2nd half. No idea if he's injured or otherwise but only real creative player we have, surround him with the other guys and let him get some space to at least pass or try turn a man.

Sad end if he is away that a club servant of this duration never even got a run out in the last game and not accepting he couldn't have been on instead of Woods.

Probably see him at Elgin or HL next year.

  7. The yoyo on this thread based on the last month is hilarious. Dodds is a fraud, his tactics for 2 seasons are basic, we are tepid and negative with a long ball to short guys in desperation. Successive mid season collapses with excuses every time and dressing room issues.

Injuries has been this years get out, but the line ups changed yet we never changed tactics or shape to compensate.

Over the next few wks I expect apathy to reduce and fans reflect with the golden egg of a cup final being enough to appease so this lame duck gets another season or more.

  8. Tepid, slow, negative especially in the first half. Sums up our season, followed by desperation of hoof (Dodds) ball.

The irony hooking Devine to continue playing high balls into a box with Billy & Samuels when we could have at least trued Danny up there for target.

Few guy around me getting proper worked up about Harper never pushing on and playing back.......can't blame the guy for playing the strategy put in place by the manager.

  9. Hardly knee jerk or sacking. It would he non contract renewal based on 2 seasons or inconsistent and at times rudderless performances. If giving someone the full duration of a 2 year contract before parting ways is seen as reactionary then how long and on what metric do you let managers continue?

Also, the last published accounts show nearly £2 Million of debt.  Even if our cup run does net us £1 Million, then the manager is likely to see very little of it.

Least that's half the debt gone and when we win the SC with our fine manager at the helm, that £3m minimum from our Euro tour plus the battery farm project spearheaded by our high integrity board, we will almost overnight become the 'ballers' of Scottish football.

3 games? Our form in 2023 is superb. We are in a final, on the brink of a play-off spot.

Great short sighted viewing, what about the form in our other 32 games, including successive mid season collapses?

. Tactically I don't think Dodds is any worse than many other managers in our league and certainly no worse than McGlynn as we saw on Saturday.

Point of note, McGlynn isn't in this league for good reason but its a pretty low bar to use as a standard given he has a career of being mediocre and achieving nothing noteworthy with any team.

Apart from the standard resolutions, there was probably as much said about the current, positive football situation as about finances. The manager, among many other things, revealed that, in the light of last season’s glut of May games and this season’s injuries, he has already taken steps to lighten training in anticipation of what might potentially be an even bigger concentration this year.

Surprised the amount of spin didnt make everyone dizzy

With regard to the Concert fiasco, Scot Gardiner was at pains to separate the Club from the Concert Company.  He reported that the Concert Company had paid the Club an unspecified 6 figure sum for the hire of the stadium to include the use of the Club's staff in performing relevant functions.  He stated that making such payments up front was standard procedure in the entertainments business.  He then went on to say that as the ticketing agency for the Concert Company, the Club collected a booking fee for every ticket sold and that this amounted to another 6 figure sum.  In other words, the Club made a profit of at least £200,000 whilst local business were left out of pocket and people who had a dreadful concert experience received no compensation.

Not illegal, but morally & ethically questionable. I'm assuming the general lack of response to this by fans suggests so long as the club extracted the cash before the company went tits up, its all good and **** everyone else. Really wonder if these are the sort of people I consider as being the heart of a community club and whether they actually care about the community at all. Hardly behaviour that will have fans flocking through the doors when they have links to local companies screwed over by this, not sure who is in charge of club PR but this isnt a good look.

Lucky they set up a separate company (still involving some of those directly associated with the club), managed to accrue some profits and find a legal way to extract it back to the club, which can therefore indirectly pay for business costs such as salaries/invoices (potentially) associated with those who may have been involved in the separate company. Win-win. Nice.

I suppose the Dodds Out movement are worried about success !!

Maybe for some, but I strongly disagree. While I have no desire for Dodds to continue beyond his current contract, that does not mean I don't consider and expect us to win. While it will be a tough game and maybe being favourites is an unusual position during this cup run, lets not forget that we are in good form and that Falkirk are a division below for a reason and have players at that level. Dodds needs to get his tactics right and line-up to our strengths based on availability, however motivation should be easy as for many of these players this might be their only chance of getting to a national cup final.

This is our final IMO, when we get there its just a free hit and hope we dont get embarrassed on the day, but first its tie to show why Falkirk are a division below us.

It pretty well sums up the rollercoaster ride of the 22/23 season - and it aint feckin over yet !!

Agreed, but while its much more positive now and good feelings are out there, it shouldn't detract from the fact this season has been a failure and a shambles both on and off park. Even if we get successful outcomes in the remaining games, there still requires serious questions regarding both financial stability/management and how the club has presided over a manager who on successive seasons has perpetuated horrific mid-season collapses which ultimately have cost us winning the title.

Clever timing, couple of days before a big cup semi & Hampden visit. Anyone would think they will be trying to big up the positives in that to blindside fans regarding the matters around the finances and running of the club. Surprised they never left it til the Friday night hoping fans will already be in transit.

Least its scheduled, lets hope someone will now ask the tough questions and challenge the undoubted spin that will come out.

Timing is looking even more inspired and should see the board given an easier time unfortunately.

  17. Wonder if this poll was started now, or even end of next wk whether the outcome would be the same.

Personally, I've not changed my position but I feel there will probably be much closer vote as some fans will see the upturn and good feeling around as being enough justification to wipe the soul-less mid-season from memory.
